  1. Alright, it worked once, lets try it again. I double dog dare anyone to outbid me on #7. If someone does, odds are it will be a 1st genner. :337: Gary
  2. I double dog dare anyone to outbid me on #8. If someone does, odds are it will be a 1st genner. :337: Gary
  3. I have learned since I put one of these breathers on that it is not the best thing for motor performance. The slight vacuum applied by the standard hookup to the air box helps seal the rings into the bores and gives a slight increase in power. Mine cartridge filter is coming off. Gary
  4. I agree with you about the 'kind of poor copy' Try the one attached below. Gary
  5. Next time, farp up #2 carb body, I have a spare one of those. 35mm anyways. Gary
  6. What is the tan car with fender skirts setting on right side of bike? Gary
  7. For comparison, here are the two lower rail SN plates. 1st is the Blue 83/84 (it was # 46, not 45) 2nd is the 83 Venture/Max. Titles both show 83 year. Gary
  8. Here is picture of choke. Other pictures of some of the interesting chrome. 1st is chrome inserts inside face of handlebar risers - good shape 2nd is chrome reservoir covers - some pitting 3rd is Royale style cluster - not chrome 4th is chrome gas lid surround - good shape 5th is 2 piece side vent covers - good shape 6th is chrome headlight ring - good shape 7th is chrome rear peg mounts - some pitting 8th is unusual side radiator covers - good shape 9th is chrome radiator grill - some tarnish 10th is chrome guard in front of forks - good shape Gary http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/IMG_1325.jpg
  9. It's rather tedious sanding all the curves and recess in the body panels. The pinstripe decals were a challenge to get off. Used a heat gun initially to soften & scrape then off. Next I used a 3M general purpose adhesive cleaner (contains xylene, which seemed to be the key ingredient). I tried several other things and this seemed to work the best without damaging the ABS, I had a spare fender to experiment with. I softened adhesive with this cleaner, then took a very thin putty knife and scraped adhesive residue off. Razor blades didn't work as they tended to dig into parts. The removal of the decal then left a recess in surrounding paint which had to be sanded down with 220 grit, then 320 grit to smooth out. I have been using fiberglass resin & cloth to repair body panels & strengthen in some weak areas. I have used an electric palm sander to do the areas it will reach, but I have to be careful as it will overheat ABS if I work in one area to long. Gary
  10. The one I am trying to get from Canada is for my cousin. He has a 105th Anv. Dyna Glide, and it is no fun on long rides. I have talked to owner of the 84 in Canada today, and if getting it into US is doable within reason, that bike is coming to Ohio. Gary
  11. Picked up a blue 83 Venture today. Going to be known as Papa Smurf. Looks better in pictures than it does close up, but he is 29 years old. Serial # shows it is the 45th one built in this series. Its not a Royale, but the serial number is a different prefix than my standard 83 Venture. But it does have a Royale instrument cluster on it. Lots of aftermarket chrome on this one. Has a 2nd gear problem, but I think I have a short block 1300 motor lined up to fix that. Don't know what I am going to do to this wonderful machine, can't see letting it languish in this state though. One of the first things to go is going to be the drivers floor boards. I can't see liking that heel toe shifter. Probably won't due much with it for a while. Speedy (soon to be renamed Tweety Bird) is getting prepared for a new paint job, going to be bright yellow soon. Gary
  12. I used my harness, then I put his harness on. They both worked fine. We still haven't got it going yet. Gary
  13. That took 3 weeks. They were sent on March 5th. Gary
  14. I do not have any more at this time. Ignitech site is below. http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm If I had enough interest, I might do another round. Gary
  15. Somewhere on this site is a thread on a brake mod for the RSV's to help reduce the likelihood of a rear brake lockup. It involves installing a flow control valve in rear line. I think Rick Butler did the write up. Found them, links below. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2940 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13098 Gary
  16. Bike in first picture had strict department regulations prohibiting any involvement with high speed chases !!! Rationale was to not embarrass the department. Gary
  17. The weight of the oil will primarily affect the rebound rate. My 83 with my 270# on it compresses very little. I used 3/4" spacer on top. I would be somewhat wary of not putting any spacer in. I wouldn't want the forks to be able to extend without any spring tension against them. 1/2" would probably be minimum suggestion I would offer. You still won't get much compression from it, this is what progressives are good at. A speed bump is not going to do much at low speeds. You don't have to have exactly 5 1/2" of oil in them either. That is the MAXIMUM recommended by spring manufacturer. The oil level must be equal in both forks. You will get a smoother ride if oil is at a lower level, even as far as 7 1/2" down. This allows a larger air pocket above the oil level. The larger this air pocket, the slower the rise in PSI is as the springs start to collapse. The oil is used in the rebound damping valves at the bottom of the tubes. Gary
  18. What does it take/require to transfer a bike from Canada to US?? Ohio will be state titled in. $1200 value. Gary
  19. Go hug her, and calm down. Lynching has been illegal for quite a while. Gary
  20. I now own the unique radiator side covers in 2nd post, they weren't cheap. Came with a loaded 83 though. Speedy has company. Serial number shows it is the 46th one ever built. It has had some upgrades in its life. Needs some surgery though, 2nd gear is gone. Gary
  21. Don passed away a couple of years ago. His equipment was sold and not avalible. Gary
  22. I think this would be an excellent opportunity for our newest moderator to see if he has the ability to delete a post !!!!! Marcarl, we need you !!!!! Gary http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/wtf-monkeysmall.jpg
  23. How much gas did it take to fill it? Gary
  24. I am outside my comfort zone on with RSV trouble shooting. I would think any arcing at the main fuse with everything powered down is not good. Only thing running should be clock. I would still suspect the start switch or solenoid though. Hopefully people more familiar with your bike will be along to help. Gary
  25. Attached is a PDF of the RSV starting circuits. Shown 3 times in different states. My guess is a stuck in start switch or a bad start solenoid. Does it do it with side stand down? Gary
