  1. VERY NICE!! Since we live in the same city, I would like a chance to see it in person sometime. Maybe we could arrange a meet & eat sometime. craigr
  2. I'm sure times have changed, but.... back in the late 70s I bought a 71 Kaw without a title that I was assured was legal and not stollen. I went thru the proper channels and it took several months for them to trace the bikes title down. I would NEVER buy another bike without a title - unless I had no intention of ever licensing it, and even then it would have to be one HECK of a deal. - WHY isn't there a title? IF the bike is legal, it should be very simple for the actual owner to get the title, compare to the hoops someone else has to jump thru to get one. But as I said at the first, my experience is from the late 70s. craigr
  3. I would LOVE to have a different cap. - Why on earth do I need a key lock cap on my 07 Venture - I can't believe anyone would steal my gas craigr
  4. I finally got a chrome luggage rack for my 07 Venture. Before I start drilling holes I figure I should ask for any tips. Is there a trick to figuring out where to position it? In the future, I thought I may get the lighted spoiler that Yamaha sells. I have seen somewhere on this site that you can have both if wanted. I don't want to position the rack in the wrong place as to rule out the spoiler in the future. Do any of you have any tips? I plan to start drilling the holes tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance, craigr
  5. For our first time, we went to a local restraunt 'Quaker Steak & Lube' for a weekly 'Bike Night'. WOW!!! There were MANY bikes there, much more than I expected. There had to be over 1000 bikes there!. After we ate, we walked around the 'bikes only' parking lot to check out the bikes. I have an 07 Venture, and was surprised that mine was the only Venture there - Unless one showed up after we left. It was probably 75% HDs with the rest being a mix of Crotch Rockets & everything else. It was quite an experience for us and we really enjoyed all of the people watching. My wife ran into a guy that she grew up with and hasn't seen in years. We plan to do it again sometime. craigr
  6. Looks good!! I was anxious to see how you did it so I could go buy another 2 to add to my 07 Venture, but I see my passenger floorboards would be in the way. I will have to look around my bike to find a place for another 2 air horns. craigr
  7. TWO of em??!! Where are those pics? I'd like to see how you mounted them. I bought ONE to replace the stock horn, but couldn't figure where to put any more. I would go another 2 if they look good and are easy to mount. (I like attention) craigr
  8. I've paid my dues. You can't beat all of the info and friendship on this site. I can't believe that someone would think the price is too high. craigr
  9. My wife and I, on one bike, did 10 days last summer from Omaha, down to the Dragon, to N. Carolina, up to D.C. across to Chicago, up into Wisconsin, then back thru Iowa to Omaha, 5000 miles in all. We took 2 sets of clothes in the luggage and the one set on our backs. We stayed in hotels that had washers. We 'rolled packed' our clothes - why not? It worked well for us. We are going west this summer, from Omaha, up thru Wyoming, Montana, Washington, down the coast thru Calif, to San Diego, to Vegas, then 66 east to Oklahoma City, then back up to Omaha. I just bought the Venturedad hitch and plan to buy one of those racks that fit in the hitch to allow me to carry another days worth of clothing, or our leathers. craigr
  10. Per all of the suggestions, I bought mine from Venturedad. Instead of a trailer, I want to put one of the square racks on the back so I can carry an extra piece of luggage - another days worth of clothes. Do you folks have a suggestion where to start looking? How much weight can I put back there safetly? This is all new to me. craigr
  11. Don't knock the Ventrue for weight & cornering. I rode the Venture with my 200 lb wife on back last year and I had to pull over to let a timid crotch rocket get far enough ahead to let me play. Admittedly, I tend to be a bit more aggessive than some on a bike, but I had NO close calls and paid attention to what I was doing and still had loads of fun. I had the bike leaning WAYYYY over and it was almost a workout flipping back and forth. I was impressed on how well this Cow of a bike handled. Both my wife and I want to go back and stay at the cabins so we can ride it several times - on our Venture. Admittedly, I would really like to ride it on a crotch rocket though. While we were there, someone told us that a Wing had gone off a cliff the day before, killing driver & his wife. So, I agree with all that it can be dangerous. But then lots of roads can be. craigr
  12. This August, my wife and I are heading from Omaha to Washington State, down the California coast highway to San Diego, to Vegas for a night and as of yesterday, we are now planning to stop by the Grand Canyon. I will have to show her your picks. Hopefully we will get some of our own to post. craigr
  13. Check J&P cycles. I was browsing a catalog at work this morning and was surprised how many different LEDs they sell. craigr
  14. THAT looks pretty cool!! I could even fabricate something like that - now that I have a model. craigr
  15. I am also considering a trike kit, due to health reasons. But, since they don't lean like a bike does, wouldn't an old CJ7 with the top and doors off give me the same feeling? Also, MUCH cheaper. Honestly, I am NOT trying to be a smart A$$! I just wonder if I would like the trike since it doesn't lean. craigr
  16. Well, I Finally got to see one in person!! The bike is even cooler than in pics!! They have one on display at a local dealer & it looks VERY mean. I think my beard grew a little extra just standing by it!! I would love to take one out and see what it could do. - I'm glad they didn't make any like this one back in the late 70s, I doubt I would be here today. craigr
  17. Welcome to the site. I ride an 07 Blue/Black Venture & live in Omaha, by Eppley Airfield. I ride almost exclusively 2-up. (My wife is obsessed with being on the bike). We LOVE to ride the Bluffs and typically go as far north as Soldier, IA or down I-29 to Rockport for Lunch, (they have a GREAT steak dinner). We would be glad to meet up with you or others sometime. craigr
  18. Okay, I'll admit it, I am dumb on this. What is a 'leading link'? Pics? craigr
  19. I have a set of these on my 2007 Venture and they helped 'some' with the riding position, but I am thinking about making the $500 plunge and getting the Flanders handlebars. With the risers, I feel like I am still leaning forward some. I'm 5'13" and my arms still aren't long enough! The money is more the issue than anything else. I was surprised to see it sooo high. craigr
  20. Not meaning to highjack the thread, but there are no mentions of Whitewalls. I stopped at the dealer this last Saturday and the only Whitewalls he could find were the Dunlops. - I'm not sure I want Dunlops. I emailed Avon and they said they couldn't help me. What brand Whitewalls do any of you run? craigr
  21. This is what I did. I put both under the engine. They look kinda funny and gather lots of road metal, but I am not convinced they do any good. craigr
  22. Your response sounds like you are saying 'As long as me and my passenger are safe' You are being sarcastic, right? craigr
  23. Wow, I admire your initiative! In my younger days, I would have loved a challenge such as yours. Sadly, now that I have the money to buy new, I would never take the time or effort to do this. My hat is off to you. Craigr
  24. As far as the trike kit goes, for the money I could get an old jeep and take the doors and top off. I really wonder if it would be much different. The trike shop said to come back when it is better weather and they would let me test drive one. craigr
  25. They look good from what I can see in the picks. I used to polish anything I could on my bikes. I even pulled the front forks and polished the Aluminum to a mirror finish on my 72 Kaw 500. They looked great. craigr
