  1. I thought of the Come-Along thing, but I'm too lazy for that. I figured I would buy an electric Winch and use it to hoist it up. craigr
  2. As posted in a different thread, I just picked up my BushTec Trailer yesterday. As for Storage, I thought I would hang it from the wall of my Garage - to keep it safe when not in use. Do any of you do this? Would hanging it from the eyelet in the Tongue be okay or better from the frame? Craigr
  3. Well, I went ahead and bought the Bushtec Roadstar. - Even though I believe the price is waaay too high. Most people I talked to on the net & in person, all said it is the 'Cadillac', etc... So I had to go for it. I pulled it approx 80ish miles home, (empty of course), and it pulled wonderful - couldn't tell it was back there. I plan to load it up with 150lbs and see what it is like. The one thing I don't like is that I can't see the trailer in my mirrors. In my truck, I keep a watch on my boat trailer from both side mirrors. I miss that on the bike. Do any of you have extra mirrors for this or do you just not worry about it? craigr
  4. A few years ago, I tossed my old Tach & Dwell Meter. I thought 'what would I ever use it for now days'. So now I want to sync my carbs and need it for the Tach. I stopped by the local Harbor Frieght this morning to pick one up and they didn't have one. So, I figured before I start browsing the web for one, do any of you have a favorite? I don't see that I need anything 'fancy'. All I need is the engine RPM, so I don't want to pay much for just that. craigr
  5. I pick up my new Bushteck trailer on Monday, so for this coming trip to the West Coast, I will have LOTS of room to carry tools, tire kit, etc... I am soooo afraid of getting a flat out of town. Though the only flats I have gotten were all 3 relativeliy close to home. craigr
  6. I Really like the Red, White, Blue pic! Can I get that in a full size? I'd like to put it as a background on my workstation at the office. craigr
  7. I am replacing my stock tires with Avons this coming Monday - YEA!! I read some of the MANY posts on tires on this board and took some of the advice to get the Avons. I am looking forward to the better handleing mentioned in those threads. As far as flat tires, I remember seeing a video somewhere of some company that coats the inside of your new tires with some kind of goo that prevents flats. It shows a crotch rocket with the goo in the tires, running over a board full of nails - and doesn't get a flat!! I wonder where one would get something like that. What I will probably do is order one of those kits for bikes that come with plugs & little CO2 cartridges to carry in the bike on long trips - just to get me home or too a dealer. craigr
  8. If you are coming thu Omaha, NE and want company for dinner or lunch, let me know and I will join you. Might even ride aways with you if you like. craigr
  9. I've said it before and I'll say it again... I came from a 99 Vulcan 1500 Classic that I thought was smooth & powerful. I planned to take a trip from Omaha, NE to the East coast & back and thought a full tourer and new is what I needed. Since Ma Kaw didn't have a tourer, I looked at the Goldwing, (just didn't feel old enough for one), and the Venture. My wife fell in love with the looks and the seat of a 2007 Venture. I took it for a 15 minute test ride in town & on a highway. We ended up buying it. On the way home, I discovered that the riding position bothered a bad disc in my back and things started going numb. Once I was on the bike for very long, I HAD to stop. Also, I wasn't happy with the power. My Vulcan would eat it up. I started reading this and the Delphi forums and was really griping about this 'pig' & how I made a HUGE mistake in buying it. Everyone started suggesting things to make it more comfortable for me. After a set of handlebar risers and a backrest, I was comfortable as sitting in my recliner at home. - THEN they told me that as for the power, I must be riding it wrong. They told me that you can't ride it like a V-Twin, and to REVVVVV the bike. So, I took it to an on ramp and layed into it like a 17 year old and the bike was like a rocket. There is NOOOOO way my old 1500 could keep up with this bike. Get her over 80 or so, and she feels like a race horse that I'm trying to hold back!! My brother in law bought a 105 Anniverary Road King and teased me about my bike only being a 1300 and his being a 1600 - until we hit the Interstate & about 80ish. I walked away from him and even 'played' about it!! I haven't ridden with a Goldwing yet but I hear they have awesome power also. AND, being a Honda, I'm sure the craftsmanship and quality is tops. I'm still in my mid 40s and just don't feel old enough for one yet. Maybe when I hit 60 or so craigr
  10. I just got a set this week. I tried putting them on, but they seemed a little loose. I called them and asked about this and they said it is normal & won't feel loose when in use. He also said that a piece of rubber would make them feel more solid. What do you use or do you just leave them loose? craigr
  11. I guess if I HAD to get a nail, I'm glad it waited until I am just about done with the tire anyway. Thanks for the replies
  12. I hit a nail with my rear tire this past weekend, and had to nurse the bike home, stopping for air every 30 miles or so. I have new tires on order and won't be in for a couple of weeks. I am thinking about plugging the tire so I can ride until the tires come in. Do any of you plug? I did it all the time on my cages when I was younger, but never on a bike. craigr
  13. 45 MPH maximum towing speed
  14. I am sooo jealous of you folks for understanding this stuff. Like a fool, I dropped out of electronics class in High School, then again from Electronic Engineering in College. - I just never could grasp the technology. I love to read the mags, but only grasp bits & pieces. Some of you electronics folks talk the language like it is your first language. As I said above, I'm jealous. craigr
  15. I bought a Carbtune, but am intimidated to use it. Does anyone in the Omaha, NE area need their carbs balanced but doesnt have one and would like to help me learn this thing? We could experiment on both bikes. craigr
  16. With BushTec, can I bargain with the dealer or are the prices 'manufacturer set'? Thanks
  17. I need to replace my tires and have read a lot of the posts on tires on this board. The one thing I didn't find is any negative effects of going with a narrower front tire. I like the idea of better low speed handling, but don't know what I might be giving up. Anyone have any ideas on this? craigr (edit) - BTW, you folks have sold me on Avons. All I need to do is figure out the sizes.
  18. What keeps knocking in the back of my mind is.... If it were this simple AND it doesn't hurt the bike, why wouldn't MamaYama have it this way in the first place? craigr
  19. I DO have the money to spend on it, but I am having trouble with the price anyway. I could buy another 'older' bike for that!! I wish I could try pulling a 'cheaper' one, just to show myself that there isn't any difference. If I am going to spend a bunch of money on one, I would rather spend the extra dollars to get 'the BEST' - NOT just he most expensive. Is there really a difference pulling the Bushtec and other trailers? We are taking a 10k ish trip this year and I don't want to be unhappy with our choice. (I know.... I am trying to talk myself into the Bushtec). craigr
  20. Wow! That is quite a list! Here is a link to the one I am trying to talk myself out of - http://www.bushtec.com/roadstar-07.html craigr
  21. The raffle would work great IF I win and IF it was sooner. I leave for the West coast in Late July.
  22. I went to a dealer in the next town, just to look at trikes and while I was there I spotted the Bushtec Roadstar. They almost had me sold on it. It looks wonderful and just what we need for our West Coast trip this summer. - I just can't get over the 4k price!! I read a few of the other posts on here about Bushtec and most have the same reaction - the price!! I like the idea that the quality / design is tops. I would hate to spend a few dollars less and not be happy with it. I wish there were other dealers locally that had different brands to compare with. I've got a month to find one, so if any of you have other suggestions, please speak up. craigr
  23. Well after putting it off for quite a while I also just ordered them. I hope my wifey will like them. craigr
  24. I'm sure this is a dumb question, but.... What do they do? Do they give you MORE air to your legs or block the air? craigr
  25. Duh.... I didn't think of that. But someone would be even dumber to gas up with the bike running. craigr
