  1. I used to have a 99 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500 and join a Vulcan Riders group. Now that I have a Venture, I would like to get together & ride with some Venture Riders. Are any of you in the Omaha, NE area and would like to ride together sometime? craigr
  2. Illinois, east bound I-74 mile markers 154, 155. About 2:35 P.M. dark blue 1st Gen MK II. We were in the cage, on our way home from Omaha to Indy. Had to drive the car because of a tight schelule, could not afford weather delays, etc. The fog for about 100 miles leaving Omaha was terrible, was actually glad to be in the car. If this mystery rider is a member here, let us know.
  3. Howdy all, I have a friend with an 87 Venture. He loves his bike. I am hoping to find a salvage yard or some place to get a few things for him. He is missing some relay that is located on the upper right hand of his dash. He has to put a paperclip in the socket for it or his turn signals won't work - but if he leaves it in his battery will go dead. He is also having problems with his ignition switch - it will start but the headlight will not come back on after cranking. I would like to purchase these items for him and help him install them so we can ride together without worry of him breaking down. Anyone know of a Yamaha graveyard or something where I can acquire these parts? I have tried the local Yamaha dealer here in Omaha and they are no help. I rode to Cripple Creek, CO for the veterans rally and a vet who served in Viet-Nam with my father that rides a Venture told me about this forum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and keep em' on 2 wheels, Dustin Fanning spunner@spunner.com
  4. Are any of you going to the Baseball College World Series in Omaha this year? craigr
  5. We have finally decided to head to the Northeast states this summer. We have already hit the western states and most of the Southeast states. We need to pick up the states North of D.C.. We are doing a benefit bike ride in July in Indianapolis, and decided that since we are going to be that far east (from Omaha), we might as well continue on from there. We are going to have to get Pass Cards so we can swing by Niagra Falls. Is there much reason to ride around there on the Canada side or is it better to take the U.S. Side to Maine? We figured to ride to Maine then take the eastern seaboard down to D.C., then head west towards home. I know that I want to stop somewhere to see an old sailing ship, one I can go onto and explore. I have always been fascinated by them. My wife thinks we can do this trip in 2 weeks easily. I just can't see it. Again, we are leaving Omaha, NE stopping in Indianapolis for a day then east to Maine, down to D.C. The westward to home. I say 3 weeks would be tight. What do you think?
  6. We took a ride today from Omaha, NE to Sac & Fox Casino just south of Sabetha, KS and back to Omaha. It was a great day for a ride! Although I could have just as well thrown my money on the floor as soon as we arrived at the casino. On our way down there we spotted an 02 Black Venture at a Gas station in Nebraska City. I got a chance to talk with him a short while. He said he has been on this board, but not if he is a regular. Was it any of you? The next one was on hwy 370 in Bellevue, NE around 630p heading west. How about it. were either of these two from this board? Craigr
  7. This is my week to work in Omaha. So I was out getting parts to repair a machine and spotted a white Venture at the junction of N. 30th and Sorensen Pkwy at 11:45 am. Not good with years, but it was a 1st gen. Nice day out in the 50's already. Hope you enjoyed the ride. Bryan
  8. Well this is getting interesting. Last year we had a rider tagged at 155 MPH on a Honda out on West Dodge. Yesterday we broke his record. The name has been changed to protect the moron. At 188 MPH, Motorcyclist Can't Elude Police "Idiot Delight" Arrested In Omaha KETV.com August 6, 2009 OMAHA, Neb. -- Police said a motorcyclist, "Idiot Delight" who fled from them Wednesday at almost 200 mph not only put himself in danger but also drivers in cars. "You can check your rear view mirror and not see anyone, and then have someone coming by you at 188 mph," said Iowa State patrol Lt. Mike Miller. "It's a frightening thing for the public." Miller said a driver being passed can react in unpredictable ways and endanger everyone else on the road. The motorcyclist, 36-year-old , "Idiot Delight" accelerated after troopers spotted him on Interstate 29 near Missouri Valley. He sped into Council Bluffs, where he got on Interstate 480 at Broadway Avenue, Miller said. Within minutes, he was speeding west on Interstate 80 in Omaha. He exited at 60th Street and stopped his sports bike at a house near 59th and Fay streets, where he was caught. "Idiot Delight" faces several felony and misdemeanor charges. This was partly in the Interstate through Omaha itself. Heavy traffice most the time. I see enough of these morons almost every day. A group of rocket riders will block off a couple of lanes on the Interstated by slowing down traffic then do their 75 MPH wheelies in the gaps. Seen some pretty close calls by cagers jumping into the open lanes and not seeing what was going on behind them. It's a freak show out there these days. Mike
  9. I bought a Carbtune, but am intimidated to use it. Does anyone in the Omaha, NE area need their carbs balanced but doesnt have one and would like to help me learn this thing? We could experiment on both bikes. craigr
  10. We head out this morning for several days of camping..... original plan was to go to asheville.....but withgas prices etc we decided after the MD trip and the $$$ we spent we'd stay closer to home this week. We are heading up to Omaha area to camp and hit the zoo and childrens museum, water park and several other things. Wish us luck as we taking a friend of haylies along...2 six yr olds will pretty much wear us out fast !! And as hot as its been here....there is a excess heat warning out for the next several days///dont it figure............looks like we will just melt away . the heat and humidity combined are horrific right now......105 heat index theyre calling for from today thru monday.... hopefully the ac in the camper comes thru for us...... its an older camper we picked up and we put a new window ac in it last week. dont know f anyone lives near that area from here......but we will be at the two rivers sra west of omaha til the 7th.
