  1. I dunno, but my 85 has about 36k miles and it hasnt had the valve lash adjusted yet and It runs great. I am sure one of the gurus will check in shortly and have the right answer, but my personal opinion that if everything runs good dont mess with it. I try to do regular maintenance but shims can be a major job from what I read, and most guys that have done it find very little adjustment, if any at all, needed. Just be sure to change your plugs and fuel filter regularly. Brian
  2. My 85 will lift the front tire almost any time I like, without dropping the clutch in hard, scared the crap outta me the first time, tho. I think as long as these bikes are in good tune and shape most can do that. If you only have 16k miles on that you shouldnt really need valves done yet, at least that what I have read in here from some of the experts. Brian
  3. Yeah that!!!!
  4. yeah, I am ok with that too,,,,lol Brian
  5. I have an 85 G1 and while its not a G2 llike yours I think if youre like me youll notice a huge difference with speed. At about 130 kmh I am getting around 35mpg , if I do twisties thru the mountains or keep it around 80 kmh I get close to 50 mpg . And of course the winds out here in Western Canada might make a big difference as well. Brian
  6. Isnt everything Rocket's fault? :stickpoke: Brian:rotf:
  7. If it works, someone is welcome to change with mine:rotfl:......My 85 whines really loud on hot summer days between 55-65 mph, so it doesnt appear to be just a G2 issue. Brian
  8. How does he do that?....he knows when I am "otherwise occupied" :whistling:as well.....lol! Does he have spies everywhere? Brian
  9. Well, if your regret is that you want to meet us then make sure youre at Kruisn the Kootenays in Nelson BC in July. Also, you may to drop a message to Rocket if you want to take a ride out to Wainwright, he is a fountain of knowledge on 1st gens and I would think some of that knowledge would translate to the 2nd gens also. Scotty in Camrose is another guy that has helped me out when my 85 was in Rockets hospital for sick 1st gens....lol. I think Rocket andScotty are both coming down to Nelson on the july long weekend so if youre looking for someone to ride with drop them a line. Looking forward to meeting you Brian
  10. Yeah , that:sign yeah that: Brian
  11. It sounds like somehow your shraders have been threaded in too far, if I am reading you right. Have you checked to see if somehow you got the wrong shrader in there? I dont even know if there are different sizes/lengths. Brian
  12. Some guys in the Local chapter of the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers that I ride with from time to time were out riding around yesterday and today. It was getting close to 40f and sun was shining bright, I woulda been out too, if my bike was back from the dealer. Brian
  13. Only when the hiways are too icy to ride on..... Brian
  14. Ive been told by the Motorcycle Safety instructors that I ride with that the life cycle of a helmet is 5 years (no more than that) or until it gets dropped just once from 2 1/2 feet high. I guess over time the plastic deteriorates from sunshine, plus the interior shell breaks down from sweat and heat and just wont protect you any more. brian
  15. To be honest I dont notice too much difference if I am riding alone or 2 up in the twisties. :whistling:although with that said I do hafta qualify that by telling you all that here in saskatchewan my tires do have an issue with wearing in the middle beacause of all the straight roads. Brian
  16. Jack youre not cheap, it would be called fiscally responsible.......thats something that Ive never been accused of....lol Brian

    9000!

Ok, but those of us that are in here with in invisble mode so the other guys at work dont know I am in here dont get included in that count. lol Brian
  18. I was kinda llooking at finding one for my 85 also, but gave up when i couldnt find one that wouldnt require changes to the bike. I was thinking about the handlebar mount J&M instead though, it looked easier to install and its newer technology so I think you might get better respsonse out of it. Brian
  19. My 85 does that too, and I was concerned about it too, but Ive listend to a few other G1 machines and it seems to be common place with these bikes. Brian
  20. the Ants or Sunrayman(boy)? Brian
  21. I am looking at that trip too, but I am just going straight south mostly from here and its about the same distance as Nelson BC ...roughly. Brian
  22. So, now that youve got it figured out, Are you gonna set up shop at Nelson and do all of our trunks with that leftover felt your have? Brian
  23. Yammer , ya gotta remember your bike is female and calling her UGLY is making her mad and stubborn. I know Ive said this before, but its true, ya gotta change her name from UGLY as she doesnt like it...:stirthepot: Mine is just called Brownie and she treats me right....I think giga has his named Brownie as well ...........I rest my case......and promise not to mention this to you anymore,,,maybe....lol:rotf: Brian
  24. I hope youre talking about the bike trunk, Not Rick cause Rick is full of wrinkles....lol!
  25. Youre not alone,,,,, i almost did the same thing on my Brownie, but Rocket clued me in and gave me a silverstar. It makes a big difference to the visibility. but it still doesnt compare to the brightness installing lower driving lights gives you. Brian
