  1. I love the look of those Vstar 1300's, good choice! Brian
  2. Maybe your coolant is overfull? Brian
  3. ive never ever felt the need to ride or even walk with a weapon, But I do think it might get to be a pain carrying it in the waistband or in a shoulder holster esp on a hot day. Brian
  4. I use my bike for work and fun. I usually wear my full face helmet but sometimes the half. But am usually in a mesh or jean jacket with armour and try to wear my kevlar jeans most of the time. Gloves are usually a must, except in really hot weather. Brian
  5. I just had a new gear indicator switch put in my 85. you can get at it behind the middle gear cover by your left foot, but you need a long screwdriver to do it. My indicator switch had cracks in it, was sweating a bit of oil, and when it got hot decided not to show me the gear I was in. Brian
  6. Please Charlie, dont paint us all with your brush........:stickpoke: Brian:rotfl:
  7. thanks for giving us the birds eye view on everything!! thanks for the pics and your time for doing this for the rest of us. Brian
  8. Anyone looking for a toy hauler and RV trailer? I thought this would be nice to be able to have the bike inside the trailer when I get somewhere and then just back it out. I stumbled on this repoed one in Kingman AZ on CrankyApe.com. I would like something like this but its too far. http://www.crankyape.com/default.asp?pg=DispSingleItem&ItemNumber=18440 Brian
  9. I cant flat foot mine either, even with no air in the back shocks and I have a 30 inch inseam. But I do have a Saddlens seat on mine that looks like its about an inch or so taller than stock. I would like to have my OEM seat recovered as I think its a more confoprtable seat, but would miss the removable backrest. Brian
  10. that is one nice looking bike! I do like the idea of the center stand. Brian
  11. Looking great!
  12. Everyone I know that has drilled holes in the air box has seen performance degrade significantly and lots of pops and backfiring as it leans the engine out. brian
  13. I dropped mine while stopped in the driveway within a day of having mine too, but I got used to it after awhile. It helps to have the class system down in the rear at low speed, but, the biggest help I got was from buying and watching Ride like a Pro DVD. The tricks of using your rear brake and friction zone in the clutch to hold you up while moving at slow speed really do work well! I also learned how to pick Brownie up without hurting my back by watching that video. Brian
  14. I just buy the hand warmer packs and slide one on top of my hand in a glove or mitten and I am fine. the packs of hand warmers are cheap, I think Princess Auto charges less than a buck for two Brian
  15. It would be a nice solution, but I doubt that it would work, as there are too many connections like our mechanical speedo cable. The newer scoots are using electronic sensors to hook up things like the vapor to. BUT, that being said, if anyone finds a way to makeit work please post here, I would love to see the updated solution. Brian
  16. The inner shield really isnt that close to my face as my glasses still fit underneath it so I think you will be fine. I would try one locally if you can find one and then see if they will let you go outside and flip the sunshade down and see if it comes down far enuff for you. When I look down at the instrument pod i am looking below the shade, which I like by the way. But sometimes I put the helmet on a bit high in the front and the shade ends in my line of vision until i pull the front of the helmet down. BTW I also find it cooler than my 3/4 helmet because it vents so much better, and actually there has been several times Ive actually felt cold at the vents at the back of my head. I ride with the outer shield up quite a lot and the sunshade down. The helmet is a bit noisy though, because of the venting i think, and it seems to filter out most of the whine my transmission has, so i hear the Jardines a lot better....lol Yeah ,,,and the sun shade is free of distortion too....lol! brian
  17. I have the glossy version of that helmet and love it. The lens doesnt distort from side to side at all and the sun shade is very non distorting as well. Occassionally I have to pull the helmet down a bit in the front as I think the sun shade should come down a bit more, but other than that it fits my big round head real well. Brian
  18. Happen to have a left mirror? Mine is loose Brian
  19. Nice trailer!! Gee Vic, just lookit all the nice space you could have paint artistically sprayed on to match your bike. Brian
  20. Does that mean you wont park with the rest of us in the parking lot in Nelson this summer? Seriously, congrats............ i know youll enjoy ridng a new bike.. Brian
  21. I totally agree with ya!!! Brian
  22. Has anyone tried just leaning the bike over on the crash bars (with padding of course) and then cut the hole in the collector while it is still on the bike? I kinda think there just may be enuff room and then you dont have to fight with thos pesky exhaust fittings. As I remember you fought with mine for a looonngg time on the back side of the engine, and invented a whole new language...lol Brian
  23. I have the owners manual and the 3 shop manuals for the 85 VR. If you want to borrow and copy, I will send them down to you. Brian
  24. I have been told that the boards make it tougher to reach the ground as you have to place your feet farther out from the bike than you do with the pegs. But everyone seems to like different stuff. brian
  25. I seem to remember that Condor said that he had put MK1 pegs on a Mk2 machine because they were adjustable and more comfortable. Brian
