  1. I have an 8 gig mp3 player I just bought from circuit city. Most of my music is at 128 mb and almost cant fill my 8 gig player up. the size goes up exponentially with the bitrate and on the bike I figured you wouldnt be able to hear the clarity of a higher rate anyway with the wind and traffic noise. If I remember correctly, (and at my age I may be wrong) most cd's are around 140 bitrate. I listen to my mp3 player thru a cassette adapter which gives me quite a lot better sound than when I used an fm transmitter to my radio. Brian:cool10:
  2. Thanks so much Don for all your time and effort and money that you spend to keep us all going and sane. (OK, scratch the sane part... ) Paypal is all done and on its way to you as a small token of thanks! Brian:cool10:
  3. HI Dave See the experts around here are a fountain of knowledge. So if you still want my old brown seat (no tears or rips, but a bit worn and needs cleaning) youre welcome to it just let me know where to send it to. My payment will be as we talked earlier is that you pass the goodwill along if you see someone else that requires something you may have,as thats kinda how we work around here. Oh yeah Ill take some pics later so you can see when I get home frome work around 5pm. Catch ya later, Brian:cool10:
  4. Thanks for all you do! You spend so much of your free time helping us out, and we really do appreciate it. With living in Saskatchewan there arent too many of us 1st gen guys around top swap solutions (and BS) with, so the work you do becomes a big part of how we communicate. Big thumbs up!!! Brian
  5. just got to thinking (I know that may surprise some around here....lol) but my saddle from my 85 should fit his 86 1st gen shouldnt it? come on all you experts. Thanks, Brian:cool10:
  6. I have a brown oem saddle that I am not using that you are welcome to, as I was trying to downsize and make room. It isnt perfect, and needs a good cleaning, but no tears or rips. oops, almost forgot, its off my 85 1st gen. I dont have a pic but when my camera gets charged i will post one. Brian:cool10:
  7. I dont know if there is anything I could do to help you out with this, but I am a LAN Admin for our local PUblic School Board of about 50 schools and 7000 machines. Just ask if you think there is anything I could try and help with. Brian:cool10:
  8. it wasnt me, I looked at em a couple of days ago and made one bid to test the waters and havnt looked at em since until a notification came today that there wasnt too much time left and too much for the old budget. Good luck!
  9. I did some checking around here and a new 6 by 10 enclosed trailer is averaging around 4k to 5k for the single axle model with 3500gvw at 4 different dealers... and add about a thou for tandem axles. Man! do we ever pay too much for some stuff up here, and with the price of fuel going up the costs to get it here is gonna drive prices up even more, Ill bet.
  10. Does anyone have a spare fast forward/rewind button off a 1st gen VR cassette unit? It appears someone decided they needed the button worse than I when I parked at WallyWorld yesterday. Probably just some kids exploring, but man it ticks me off that they cant leave well enuff alone. Let me know how much you asking for it and how we can work out payment. I could just buy another radio unit, but I really dont need more motorcycle stuff sitting around here. Thanks, Brian
  11. Thanks for the offer, that sounds like a great idea. i will let you know a definite answer a bit closer to the dates whether I am going to do that. It would be a great way to meet you guys and see the country a bit more also. I should be able to make that work as I am booked into the hotel on Thurs anyway and was planning to be in the area. Brian:cool10:
  12. If I wasnt 3100kms each way from Morro Bay owning a bike that parts were readily availble for, I would be riding , not trailering believe me. Its just too far on something that parts are getting hard to find, imho. PLus I have some time constraints and its the only way I can fit it all in this summer. Dont get me wrong, I love my VR but I do respect her age and treat her like the lady that she is, and pamper her.:rotf:
  13. Thanks for all the work you do on this site for all of us that have come to rely on it. All of us that visit and enjoy ventureriders thanks you very much, and all you do is very much appreciated. Brian:cool10:
  14. I was thinking of getting a trailer to store my 85 VR in and trailer it down to Morro Bay ca this summer. Has anyone had any experience with the continental Cargo enclosed trailer? I was looking at the 6 ft by 10 ft model with the extra 6 inches of height. and a guy is town has one about a year old for about 2500 cdn I think these were about 4000 new around here. Is anyone aware of any issues with these trailers? Thanks for any input anyone may have, Brian :cool10:
  15. I am sorry to hear of your wife's health issues and I am thinking of both of you in this time of extreme stress and anxiety. Our thoughts of best wishes and speedy recovery go out to both of you and I think you know that if you need anything of any of us, please just ask any of us. Brian
  16. Geez, I wish I had longer summers like you south of the border guys, I would absolutely love to be able to ride almost all year long. Around here some of the guys think I am nuts for riding in some of the cold weather that I ride around in. This year I started on Mar15th and that was the earliest Ive ever been on the bike in about 20 years of riding. Most years we are pretty much all away for the winter by the end of October, so our season is short. Ride hard and have fun, Brian
  17. thats just so strange that uhaul won't rent to explorers,
  18. It looks like it might be a little short, according to the stats arent these bikes about 9 ft long?
  19. I rented a uhaul bike trailer with my Ford Escape to bring my 85 1st gen home about 2 months ago. Did they say why they wouldnt rent to an Explorer? UHaul was cheap to rent! it was 15 bucks a day including their so called insurance. they used my credit card for a deposit so no charge for deposit either. The only thing to have is one of those flat plugs for the electrical. They wont release the trailer without proper wiring and they do hook it up for you. Actaully I plan to rent one for 2 weeks when I travel down to California for the Morro Bay Rally in August. I was going ot buy a trailer also, but with rental being so cheap i thought save my moneyfor beer and fun and travelling and more chrome.
  20. Ive got about 1900 kms on mine since Mar 15th mostly going back and forth to work and cruising around town with the kids on their crotch rockets (ahem! sportsbikes)
  21. Actually up here the motorcycle riders manual from the Saskatchewan Drivers testing recommends riding in the rightside of lane in a lot of circumstances as it gives you a chance to be seen and heard a bit better when riding in the left lane when traffic is on your right lane. It is called a blocking position and the thought is that youll notice things quicker and it gives you more options should the car on the right come into your lane. When i started riding 20 years ago all the manuals I read pretty much all said to run in the leftside of the lane no matter where we were, I guess times change. Brian
  22. We had a gorgeous day here yesterday for April about 27 c and not much wind cruising around town through the parks and happened on a police spot check. Got pulled into the check lane, had an officer walk up and ask me to shut the engine off and give him my registration and DL. No probs i kll the engine , put the kick stand down and get my wallet to pull out my docs while the LEO is checking my lights, signals, brakes etc. meanwhile I am trying to balance my docs and wallet while doing this stuff he is asking. Finally we get done with the check he hands everything back to me, i put my wallet away, get set to go flip up the stand and nothing. I tried everything thought my lights were on bright and got a bad switch, or the switch on the kick stand was shot but no go. Meanwhile theres cars behind me in the lane so I have to push my ride off to the side to try to figure out what was wrong. I checked everything from top to bottom and was ready to call a tow company when I remembered what I had read in this forum about the KILL switch and how some guys have forgotten to turn it back on. Well, thats me, was I embarrassed. Usually i let the switch for the kick stand kill the engine so i know that the stand is down and locked before I tilt the bike one its side, but my routine got messed up when I killed it with the switch. AARRGGHHH! so frustrating when you have a brain fart! Brian :cool10:
  23. What i do to show both maps is open your paint program copy both of your maps into it, get them the size you want and name it and save it where you can find it, and then upload the same way you did with the one map. I hope that helps, Brian
  24. Here`s a link to kitcheenr tourism website if anyone wants to have a look around. http://www.kwtourism.ca For the guys looking for girls here is the link to the Toronto SUn newspaper its all local girls. http://www.torontosun.com/SUNshineGirl/home.html see there is something around for everyone,:whistling:
  25. I think youre reading the French part of the bilingual label. Every major company must put both English and French on every label, including McDonalds. (A real waste of time in most of the country if you ask me, as most people outside of Quebec have English as their first language,) But, to answer your question, yes we have learned English since you were here last! :rotf:
