  1. The gas prices in my city went to 1.32 a liter a couple of weeks ago, or 5.28 a US gallon. That is part of the reason I am going to the US this year to vacation instead of travelling across Canada.
  2. Just what are tar snakes, ive never heard the term before......or maybe I am getting senile in my old age. Brian:cool10:
  3. Fantastic news! thanks for the updates, I think of you guys every day and I will keep on sending all the good vibes your way. Brian
  4. If youre coming up into Montana anyway, you might as well get into Glacier Park and take the Going to the Sun highway if it is open. I dont know how the snow pack was last winter and whether their spring was warm enough to melt it all yet, but it is defeinitely worth making a detour to check it out. Its a slow tour at altitiude and views youll love. Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I dont know about your bike in the rain, but my 85 1st gen is great in rain.,but i usually move the radio/cassette into the trunk and put the filler panel in to be on the safe side with those old electronics. Brian:cool10:
  5. My cassette deck was doing the same thing with my adapter, it just kept changing side every 30 seconds to a minute. I noticed that the adapter would only run one way on the gear from so long before it would imitate a tape and the wheels would stop turning . I took the adapter apart and removed one gear that made the wheels stop and and cause the deck to reverse. Now my deck never reverses unless I want it too, theres never a gap in the music when listeneing to my mp3's. I just had my deck rebuilt with new belts and all, its kinda handy working next door to the electronics repair dept at work!! Brian :cool10:
  6. great work Don. everything Ive tried loads very quickly and completely. Congrats on a job well done! Thanks again! Brian:cool10:
  7. If you have a cam i would like to see how good they look Brian
  8. I think our police dept here moved to a digitally encrypted system a few years ago, exactly because of this issue. I understand now unless its an emergency most of the information exchange is entered on the cruisers laptop and encrypted point to point and not broadcasted at all over the voice system. Brian
  9. Yeah I really dont want to melt the rubber tunnel, but I really dont like the dim light either. I am not a real handy guy with fabrication so if I can get by with the Silver star and no melting and no need to fabricate I would like to try it first. Dan, you are running this phillips silver star now with no issues on an 83-85? Has anyone tried lining/replacing the rubber tunnel with an aluminum or similar heat resistant lining, like sheets of that silicone rubbery stuff they make those baking sheets and oven mitts out of now? Brian
  10. hey that is one cool oldtimer, You dont see too many of those ANYwhere. Brian
  11. I was thinking its also time to get something brighter in the bike, (the headlight, not me you guys,,,,,,lol) Not really sure either what will work in the bike without taxing the electricals and without modding a bunch of stuff. Brian:cool10:
  12. I think you gotta get out more Dan. even if its just to get better jokes, LOL Brian:cool10:
  13. I think congrats have to go out to all of you. Firstly to you and muffinman for raising such a fine outstanding young woman, you have obviously done a great job as parents. And big congratulations to your daughter for getting her diploma and on her engagemnt to "her guy" Woo hoo!! big cheers all around! Brian:cool10:
  14. yeah what Dan said, also glad you were able find a scoot you wanted, and that you can get all the nice new toys to go with it. Brian:cool10:
  15. Time to take a road trip today to Moose Jaw Sk. its about an hours drive to the west of my home and a nice little oasis in the middle of the prairie. Please excuse the shots, I am not a phtographer but I thought people may want an idea of what is in Moose Jaw if they are going to make the trip. Today was a gorgeous day, especially since its in the middle the first long weekend of the summer. We are having a very late spring as its been very cool and very dry. Usually the Wakamow Valley is lush and green by this time of year. Click here to view the pics, http://picasaweb.google.ca/friesman1/MooseJawMay18_08 Brian:cool10:
  16. not hitting the new server here either, still ping the old 64.xxx.xxx.xxx IP . Last server I moved took 2 days, to make the DNS changes, but we will get there sometime, so go for a ride after all your work for us here, and for your yard. You gotta get a ride in there guy...... Brian
  17. Thanks everyone for the ideas and help, the plunger was stuck in so ive taken it out and cleaned things up a bit, so now it works but there seems to be scratches on the plastic ball thingy inside, so I think its just a matter of time before it binds again. So I think I am gonna order a new switch just to have one around cause the stealer here doesnt stock anything. Brian:cool10:
  18. Don We do appreciate all you do for us and youre making us feel guilty by spending so much time keeping things going for us. I am betting the site will last another day or two with out making the move, SO get out and ride!!!!!! d### it! Dont make us come out there and get you!!! LOL Life is short get out and enjoy it while you can, Don. Really , we can wait for a bit if need be, get out and enjoy. Brian:cool10:
  19. I just found out that I have no brake light on my 85 vr when I pull the front brake. I am presuming this is the switch shot in the lever, has anyone done this and what is involved in replacing it? I would like to save a buck or two if I can do it myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Brian
  20. Just thinking out loud here, but if its still under warranty, message me and let me know if you want to sell, perhaps we make each other a bit happier. Brian:cool10:
  21. Its slated to be a great long weekend here in western Canada also, the weatherman is predicting 80-85 f most of the weekend droppng to 75f on holiday Monday (Victoria Day) but nothing but sunshine the whole time!!!! woohoo!! about time we got a bit on nice weather on the May long weekend for a change!! The 1st long weekend of the summer starts now!!!!! Can you say party!!!! Brian:cool10:
  22. check your fuel filter and replace it if you havnt done it recently, pull the fuel line off and try to crank the engine, see if gas comes out of the line. Point it at a container cause if its work it will come out quickly, if it doesnt could be fuel pump. Also, theres reports in here of guys having a lot of rust in the bottom of the tank, worth checking that out too. Brian
  23. I am running an 85VR with 40,00kms. The bike is new to me this spring, but it had a nasty squirrely feeling at all speeds when I bought it and it had brickstones on front and back with what should have been another years wear on the rear. After reading around in here I replaced the back with a dunlop. Ive played with air pressures in the tires anf find funning 38 front and 40 back seems to make it handle ok. I will replace the front brickstone at the end of the year as I find it seems a bit slippery when cornering, but I will just keep and eye on it for now. Last weekend went out to the beaches an hours ride east of town and tried up to 160kmh (100mph) without any issues but seemd to get a bit loose at that point. (coulda just been my "old guy" nervous brain imagining it:whistling:) I prolly averaged 120-140kmh. I keep the class system at medium on both front and back most of the time but have played with settings and it doesnt seem to make any difference in handling to me. (but I am a svelte 285, lol) Brian:cool10:
