  1. Rather than to change the bike I opted to use the stock cassette player and bought a cassette adapter that plugs into my mp3 player. The cassette adapter runs fine and i slightly notched the top of the player to allow the cord to come out while the door is closed to make it neater. I then attached some double sided velcro to the top of the cassette door and to the back of my mp3 player and it works bery well. The 8 gig player runs as long as I ever want to ride! I originally tried plugging an fm transmitter into my mp3 player and tune my radio to its frequencybut it didnt give near as much sound. OH yes, i forgot, my ride is an 85 1st gen vr Brian :cool10:
  2. IN one of the articles quoted in a post above in USA today, stated that most of the canadian pumps are temperature regulated to dispense the correct amount and correct based on temperature, so those of us in colder climates dont get that bump in btu's from a cold gallon (or liter) . It seems again that the oil companies try to work all the angles their way, but we have to blame our governments more because they allow it to happen. I am not normally a militant or a guy who takes things to heart, but I really dont like to feel like I am bein g cheated.

    ewwww too much information!!!!!!!!:rotf:
  4. I have the original chain lockin the pouch for my 85VR but ive never locked it and never had an issue until 2 weeks ago when i think some kids popped a button off my cassette and took my short antenna. I have bought a trailer to use as a garage at my condo to eliminate the kiddy stuff, but I am kinda curious if I am gonna have to look at using the lock when I get down to California for the western Rally in Morro Bay. Brian
  5. Yesterday after all the stuff had hit the fan in the newspapers up here about all the gas pumps selling a short liter (quart for our US bros), the Feds made a big announcement that they have upped the fines to 10,000 bucks and will do a surpise inspection of every gas pump "at least" once a year. "At least once a year" testing isnt often enough to keep track of companies that seem to have a track record for ripping off the consumer. It seems to me that we need to keep a lot closer eyes on this industry than this. Gee, can you say knee jerk reaction? Brian
  6. Thats what I was going to do also, as i have been having trubble with kids playing with the bike while its parked. My trailer has barn doors on the back and I am looking for a ramp solution for it that is quick and easy so i can use the trailer as a garage without it being a hassle . I was figuring I need 3 to 4 feel long and a minimum of 3 feet wide so I can put my feet down when backing out. What kind of doors do you have on your and what ramp solution did you come up with? PS sorry if I hijacked this thread but i was curious about other trailers and how the ramps worked out. Brian
  7. Thats the reason I went with the flat front continental cargo, I figured I would have to save one heck of a lot of fuel to make up the difference. I found a 6x10 single axle trailer about 6 months old for about 1500 bucks less than a new v front.
  8. I am kinda hoping its not too much difference as I just bought a 10x 6 continental cargo flat front last Sat. Of course , just knowing how things usually work for me that there will be a huge difference and the v front will be MUCH cheaper to run. Brian
  9. Hey Ken looks like you found a keeper! any woman tha'll get you a rsv for retirement has gotta be wonderful!!! Say! does she have any single sisters?? lol:crackup::crackup: Brian
  10. WHAT?! No help for 1st gens mines only 23 years old..... what ever is Yamaha thinking not helping us guys with old stuff out? LOL
  11. do you have the number for the 1st gens kicking around there somewhere too? that would come in handy this summer when i head down to Morro Bay. Brian
  12. I went to my eyewear dealer and had them put transitions lenses in the frame I wanted. now I have them for whatever time of day I want, mine get very dark in bright sunlight (you cant see my eyes) and clear at night. They cost more this way, but I am more inclined to look after them and not lose them this way as it becomes a habit to wear everytime. Brian
  13. It looks like we have an petroleum industry intent on ripping the consumer off. According to a local newspaper article on the weekend 1 in 10 gas pumps were measuring wrong, and 85 % of those WERE IN THE VENDORS FAVOUR. How does such an imbalance happen if the industry doesnt know about it. Here's a link to the article (I hope this works)http://www.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/features/hosedatthepumps/story.html?id=e28c1895-89cc-49b7-88bf-484aa73c86dc From what I gather its worse my locale than anywhere else in Canada but it is a nationwide issue. We need to step up the inspections! Brian
  14. hey gw my 85VR looks to be identical to yours in this respect also. It leans over a loonnng way and sometimes its a real bear to get off the side stand. It helps a bit to let all the air outta the class system but I worry about the lean being a lotta stress on the stand too. Mine doesnt appear to be worn or stressed in any way so I guess i am just gonna have to keep that little 3/4 inchpad around to put my stand on, it does make a huge difference to the effort used to get the vr upright. Brian
  15. hi, the chat runs fine for me, and seems to carry credentials thru to the chat . Brian:happy34:

  20. I was looking at some highway pegs and was going to order but wasnt sure what diameter the engine guard on my 85 vr is. It looks like 1 inch tube but would like to be sure before I order. Any experts got this off the top of their heads? Thanks in advance, Brian:think:
  21. thanks for the update jt , both of you together keep on fighting this thing, and we will keep sending all the positive thoughts and best wishes flowing your way to help give you both strength. Medical science has ways of fixing or controlling a lot of things theses days , a friend of mine had a form of lymphoma 15 years ago and is still going strong today. Mario lemeiux the hockey player had a form of lymphoma about 10 years ago wasnt it? and he's doing fine today, so keep thinking positive!!! Brian
  22. I like my transitions also, I have a tiny bit of astigmatism since my cataract surgery so mine are prescription but only slightly more than reg sunglasses. Here's the link to a thread that was started a while back http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21403
  23. That same box showed over 65 bucks to me, but they gotta use dog sleds half the year, so I guess that would be the reason.... Brian
