  1. My late father-in-law had a First Gen a long while back - must have installed a CB. I just found the manual. It says, "Yamaha Accessories, CB Radio Kit for XVZ12. Installation Manual." The number at the bottom right corner is 59J-2B19Y-21. If anyone can use this they can have it. Just send me a personal email. If you don't hear back from me pretty quickly, don't give up. I leave for China and Thailand at the first of the week and won't be back stateside until mid-May. Lynn, Missionary Rider Vilonia, Arkansas
  2. I read the instructions for my steibel horn, it has a plastic L that pushes in from underneath and suggests some hose to a protected place. http://www.bikerhiway.com/images/stebel/mountingbolt.jpg My question is, without getting too personal, has anyone who mounted one of these run a hose and if so where is your "protected place" ??
  3. Just curious, I noticed many members have the weather underground personal weather station stickers on their threads. How do I add that? I have a personal weather station here on Camano Island WA that provides excellent weather info, http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KWACAMAN6
  4. 20 more days till the TKR surgery....... It's kinda hitting me hard right now. I must be nuts, but it needs to be done. No backing out at this point. It has taken way too much of a toll on my personal life these last few years. Missed too much stuff. Took its toll on the family and pets, not to mention riding.
  5. Maybe some of you that have been through this a time or two or three will know. When someone marries a former girlfriend do you send them a Thank You for getting her out of my life card or a Condolences on the loss of your freedom and personal belongings card? Just wondering:think:....
  6. just got a personal invite to the vogel meet from my good buddy lewis. this will be my third vogel, and it looks like we may be able to make it. lewis is always a great host.
  7. I have a source for the solid motor mounts for the 1st Gen and Vmax. Made from 6061 Aluminum, all six pieces as 1 set. At this time I would like to see if there is an interest from folks. Pricing is $50.00 for each set including shipping to 48 states, I will need to check on shipping to our Canadian members. All orders would be shipped from me and a Paypal account setup to receive funds, those that wish not to use Paypal arrangements can be made accommodate you. AT THIS TIME this is just an offer, if there is enough interest (20 sets) I will get things moving forward. My plan is to offer these to be delivered in time for a great winter project. If you have priced these you know this is a good deal. I am not interested in making a personal profit from the group buy. All of you have offered me plenty of support and knowledge that can never be repaid. So if interested please respond by sending a personal message via the forum. If you need more info my telephone number is listed in my profile. Thanks to all of you. Steve Neal
  8. I have just had the sad news from my sister that my 20 year old nephew was in so much personal pain, that he took his own life! Rest in peace Chris. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk.
  9. Here is a link I saved a while back on my computer, that you GW owners may find very useful.. If you read this document from beginning to end, you will expand your personal knowledge of what your GW really has to offer and where it is located. Hope you find it helpful. 10. Some forwarded emails that I get (jokes, etc.) have a long list of prior recipients, and sometimes names with business titles, email addresses, information that I am surprised to see. Often these are references to business emails, have job titles, company names, all that. I'm curious about how many members actually are using work computers and internet connections for personal reasons, or know of someone doing this. When I was working (retired at 67) I neither had the time nor the inclination to use company equipment for personal activity. The last few years I didn't have access to company computers, but before that had plenty of opportunity. Just seems like I was busy doing my job. Not making accusations, just curious.
  11. There are some links to ebay in the "Quickstep has a bike" thread for CB's that only take you to the home page. There was some discussion about this problem awhile ago.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46616 but it didn't seem as if it ever got resolved. The general concensious was that you COULD NOT BE LOGGED IN TO EBAY on your personal account if you wanted to copy and paste the link to a speciific item. So....whats the REAL story? Is it that the poster was logged in or is it my machine?

    Time off?

Who has some unused sick or vacation days next week? I am taking the week off, and the weather is meant to be awesome all week. I am thinking of riding down to the dragon via Skyline drive and the parkway. This is not set in stone, but the mud is drying fast. I can either ride down 81 and go north, or start north and finish south. I need a personal breather for a few days, and the wife is cool with it. Call it a mental week. LOL I could like to camp may way down, but I am not opposed to a hotel either.
  13. Ok, I have not posted a thread for a while, so how is this? If you got a tattoo, what would it be and where would it be on your body? I hope this is not too personal. Yama Mama
  14. I need some help in loading the pictures on to a Thread ... PB&J and RawHide have them in their personal album. But I like to share this with the VentureRider.Org.
  15. All you fellow dieters have been pretty quiet on how the diets are going..I think its time to check in on everyones progress..I, on the other hand, have surpassed my goal of 40 lbs. and have set a personal goal to loose another 20 or 25lbs by MD. Now all I have to do is remind myself of all those wonderful desserts I'll be able to sample at Dons.....
  16. My wife is seeking sponsors for the Komen walk for the cure, this one is a 3 day 60 mile walk. There is more information about it below, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Butch and Brenda http://www.the3day.org/images/content/pagebuilder/10860.jpg http://www.the3day.org/images/sp.gif This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day. I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. I've agreed to raise at least $2,300 in donations. I've set my personal goal at $2300.00 but hope to exceed that amount. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation from $5.00 to $500.00? Keep in mind how far I'm walking - and how hard I'll have to train. You can give online at www.The3Day.org. Just follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising webpage and make a donation. You can also call 800.996.3DAY to donate over the phone. As so many of us have lost a loved one to cancer, my family have lost both Mom and Dad to cancer. I do this walk in thier memories. According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Sincerely, Brenda aka "Topmom" P.S. Ask your employer if they will double your donation through a matching gift program! Click here to visit my personal page. 18. Have folks here actually taken the time to check out fellow member's personal sites when they post them?
  19. First I would like to thank Don and Eilene for hosting this wonderful event and for all the hospitality that they have shown me while I was a guest there. Oh yea, Dylan too. He did a great job of burning that annoying CD:rotf:. It was my first and it was great to meet all of you. Don, thank you for facilitating the SSP portion of MD also. That being said, I would also like to thank ALL of the participants who over the last 5 months supported us in making the Secret Squirrel Project a reality. whether you contributed money, time, talents or just well wishes, believe me, it was all very much appreciated. I just cant say enough about how much you all have helped us with this endeavor. Im not going to mention names...you all know who you are. Thank you all. On a more personal note: Brad and Lonna....im at a loss for words. You two are the real deal. Anytime, brother.... OK, so I didnt take pics. Bobbie and others will fill in the blanks soon. Hope to see you all sometime in the future.
  20. BUT!!!! what is the purpose, and or advantages of the "v.r. friends",LIST? is it the same as the old "BUDDIES LIST". what can you use the list for, ? I.E., can you send "personal messages " to all the members on your list, like a "mass e mail"? i am confuzzeled! just jt:think:
  21. Last week when Don sent the email out about the new costs that have been incurred. I immediately responded and paid for a full year up front. Now before you think I am tooting my own horn let me explain to you why. I had narrowed my choice of motorcycles down to a either a Venture or a BMW 1200 LT. I ended up with the BMW. But for several years I had been a member of this forum reading how you guys reach out and help each other in very real and personal ways. I am a member of other BMW forums, but I haven't seen the level of camaraderie of this group. And I told Don this. So here I am with no Venture, but I would love to be a part of this group and if anyone in or near Wilmington, NC needs something or just a riding buddy, look me up. Thanks for letting me stay and be a member... George
  22. it sure is aggravating, to look up a members ,personal profile, and learn next to nothing about them! i guess it's about personal preference, but hell,WE AIN'T THE F.B.I.! just jt
  23. Does anyone have either of these? I prefer the lighter weight for summer (have been using my Triumph Summer Jacket) and layer underneath... Have looked at First Gear, Tour Master, Aerostich,....I know this is a personal thing, but have grown accustom to the textile....If anyone has either of these Yamaha jackets, let me know...would like to know comfortability of each while riding.. Thanks. George in VA.
