    CHEAP

Thats the problem Boomer, they like Loctite Red!!! ................Oh is that just the name of the colour they see when I open my mouth..... Brian
  2. Mine just never sees mud, so, no mudflap to get in my way, I have dragged a peg once in a while while doing left corners though. Never dragged it going right though, I guess I really am left handed!!! Brian
  3. No I havnt tracked any projector bulbs down yet, but I havnt gotten the kit yet either, so I still have time...lol why rush into things.....heheh. I am really looking forward to getting the projector bulbs installed.... I hope you have taken pics at night of your oem headlight , and then take a pic at night with the projector bulbs in..It would be great for a comparison on high and low beam.
  4. That is one great looking bike!!!! :cool10: I think youll need to take it on a nice long ride by about the 1st of July ........up to Nelson BC would be about the right distance!!!! Its only about 1500 miles for ya! Brian
  5. Attaboy Dave!!!!! Brian
  6. I got nothin, Ive wondered that too, but anything I think of will hit my knees when I ride, so I am just keeping the pouches there for now. Brian
  7. It is possible, as these bikes are getting older the compnents get weaker and things dont charge like they used to. Ive run my Cassette deck with an adapter for MP3 and I didnt have an issue. I also run 2 55w halogen clearance lights for visiblilty sometimes around dusk and at night on the hiway and Ive never had an issue on my 85. I think its something to try out and keep and eye on, if your system sounds weak and starts slow sometimes, you may have an issue with your power. Brian
  8. I am sad to hear that for you, Charlie....but on the upside, we are going to be about 70f and Sunny!!! woohoo!!! Better move west, young man!!! The only months I didnt ride in the last 12 months were Dec, Jan and Feb. Brian
  9. Mine seem to manual all the time, ive tried slow, fast, inbetween, no auto cancel here on my 85 bo Ive just gotten used to turning them off. Brian
  10. I cant say what a best route across the US might be as far as scenery goes, but, I would think about crossing the country fairly south and then head up north thru thru California, Oregon and washington. That is some of the nicest country I have ever travelled thru. I especially liked Lake Tahoe area, the Morro Bay area of California, and Crater Lake by Klamath Falls Oregon. Absolutely breathtaking!! Keep us posted on your final route and the pics with description would be great!! brian
  11. Why not just buy a cheap roll of that 8in to 12 in shrink wrap on a small roll that is used in warehouses etc. Ive used it on the front of my G1 in bug season and it works well, you just peel it off when you get into a town and youre clean. it would give a bit of stone and chip protection, probably as much as that 3m stuff. Brian
  12. I just broke my right side mirror last week on my 85 Brownie (sigh....dont ask...) and I checked around quite a bit before ordering from PArtShark at around 62 bucks. Ive used them before, I trust them and their service is generally real quick. I thought about ordering a used one from someplace on ebay but then you dont know if they will stay adjusted properly at hiways speeds as some swivel with the wind. The price really wasnt that much different so I decided to go new and not have a worry. Brian
  13. But I have heard that it will dissolve right thru aluminum. I dont know if its one of those urban legends or not though. I was told thats why they cant ship by air freight anymore. Is that true or false. Brian
  14. I agree!!!! (Of course it couldnt be because I have an 85) Brian
  15. It looks like you might have to do a search in the 1st gen area to get some info on checking the cold solder joints Brian
  16. Mine was doing that fast idle thing when I got some schmuck that I thought was a good mechanic to do some work on Brownie. When he was done my scoot idled normally when first started but as it warmed up it got faster and faster until it got stuck on 3k rpm. Rocket had a look at it when he rebuilt the transmission and its been fine ever since, so Maybe i can put a bug in his ear to see if i can get him to come up with some ideas for you. Good luck Brian
  17. I just got my bike back from Schraders Yamaha in Yorkton SK, and Ive had a chance to put a couple of hundred Kms on it in the last few days and its so nice to have no oil leaks! As some of you are aware ive been battling an oil leak or 2 for a couple of years now. Ive tried to get to the bottom of it, but could never seem to get it figured out. I managed to get the leak from the oil level sensor fixed, and was still leaking a bit out of the gear indicator switch (it was cracked) and the biggest leak was the infamous stator wire grommet issue. I was having trouble to find anyone to work on my G1 that wasnt a hack locally, so did a lot of checking and found that Schraders was highly recommended and the mechanic (his name is Harley beleive it or not) likes Ventures and knows them like the back of his hand. While it was in for the oil leak Schraders asked if it was ok to do a free inspection on my bike, I gave the ok, and they found my brakes, need new pads, and a new air filter. I also had them do an oil change . They saved my old parts to show me that they really did need replacing as well. I have to say that Schraders was a pleasure to deal with, and I even found the bill reasonable for the work done, I thought that a 550 dollar bill for replacing a gear indicator, oil change, brake pads, air filter, and fix the stator wire oil leak was very fair. VERY pleasant people and welcoming, they are about a 2 hour drive from Regina but worth it to me. They also have a very nice 09 RSV sitting in the show room that could be had for a good price according to the service desk guys. the sticker on it was 19k cdn, they figured I should be able to get 4k on a trade in with my bike, but i like my G1 so why change now!! After dealing with them I can see why they are Saskatchewans largest powersport dealer, it was an all around good experience. Brian:banana:
  18. Sorry Rick, I am not much help, I am a geek not a wrench guy. I can send Rocket down to help if you can wait for a few weeks or so... Brian Seriously, tho, good luck with Brownie, I am sure you will have her better than new.
  19. i think it was just pliers to unscrew just the end knob, there was one that was a bit loose already. ill doublecheck in the next hour or so.... Brian OK update, it looks like a hex key in the end of the shaft will let you unscrew the ball end and adjust.
  20. But, I think if I remember right all you do is unscrew the rounded end of the post to give you more or less length....its the end that actually slides into the slot, not inside the bag. I dont know if it was intended to be used for that purpose but mine was too tight so I backed out the head of the post a bit used lock tite and then slid it into the slot. Brian
  21. I could be way out in left field here, but I seem to remember that the posts that go into the bags unscrew and adjust by turning the head in or out. Now Ill have to check when I go home and get back to you. Brian
  22. Dont forget the small drain on the bottom so the melted ice can run out....lol Brian
  23. I guess we all got bugs in one form or another, Sometimes we have clouds of shads (we call them fishflies here) ya gotta ride through and every few years the hoppers get bad enough to drive you crazy. THis year is forecast to be a bad year for grasshopper infestations and I am not looking for ward to it, they cake on to pipes and stink, they dry hard as rock, and they hurt like crazy if you get one in the face. Last summer I used the Colormatch Spray on Shield to protect my paint on my Escape from bug build up and while the bugs still hit the front of the suv, i just took it to the car wash and the shield just washed off taking the bugs with them. I think it worked pretty good and was wondering if anyone has used it on their bike yet? http://www.duplicolor.com/products/shield.html THese guys made it look tougher than it is, i just covered the headlights and did everything else in the clear..(BTW-the clear is a bit milky and cloudy, its not a bright clear) Brian
  24. What the heck is a love bug....I have only heard of one called Herbie. Brian
  25. I rounded a couple of heads out before i caught that...
