Clearview shield with vent
friesman replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I love my clearview with the vent. i bout the xxl tinted and i found it really stopped the buffeting and it helped Deb a bit on the back. Its surpising how much the vent helps cool you on a hot day and it also helps with buffetting if you open it a crack. Ive ridden thru a couple of heavy rain days and havnt noticed any major leakage, but it is hard to tell when youre outside in the rain, ... I find i dont get quite as wet with the wider xxl windshield Brian -
LOL, you all just like keeping things interesting dont you? Brian:smile5:

Sposed to be above freezing here today finally. i think i need to start working on my to do list. the garage where my bike is always heated, but somehow when its -30 outside i just cant get in the mood to work on the bike. Brian
-
Its been so cold out here that its actually making it easier to pronounce sssaaaassskkkaaattcchhheewewwaaannn!!!!! when youre shivering and shaking Brian:smile5:
-
I actually get way colder on a bike than i do on a sled. I think its because most bikes are designed to deflect heat away from you, where sleds are designed to take the heat from the engine and deflect it to the rider thru the venting. brian

ok! new bike checklist!
friesman replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
youve got a great list there, but there still a couple more that i would do failry quickly i would change out the springs in the front forks to progressives, it makes the handling MUCH better no more bottoming out on bumps. and I would be inclined to spend the bucks to go to stainless line for the brake lines while you have everything apart. it is a fair bit of cash, but the old lines are close to being 25 years old and waiting for the rubber to leak or split open. So just what do you want from us Canadians, EH! ? lol I think I am going out fishing tomorrow for some of those slough sharks (northern pikes). Brian

Well, we kinda are there already, but under a bit different name. try going to http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=21338336667 or search for Yamaha Royal Star Venture and Tour Deluxe Fans and Owners to visit. I dont think Don was involved in setting it up but he does seem to pop in from time to time. Also, here is the page to the rally we put on at Nelson BC Canada, called Kruisn the Kootenays. Check out the pics and the fun. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Kruisn-the-Kootenays-Motorcycle-Rally/180355652633 If anyone else knows of Facebook pages that might interest us it might be good to put a link in here too. Oh yeah, i think you have to be a Facebook member to visit, but what the heck its a free signup. Brian

Does 25 inches of snow and -40 windchill sound fun to you?!?!?!
friesman replied to Chaharly's topic in Watering Hole
Hey, Hey Hey,,no rubbing it in Jack!!! :rotfl:It was below -30c last night and windchill of about -50c . If you keep rubbing that in you might have an extra roomie until summer, lol Brian -
Hi Jack I hope you have a speedy, painfree and full recovery on the carpal tunnel thing. I hope the irregular heartbeat turns out to be minor. Ive had it for about 30 years and my mother for about 60 years. Mine is a minor electrical thing that is regulated be taking a cheap lil pill called atenolol 2 times a day, I hope yours is similar. ya better that arm in shape, just in case you decide to come up to Kruisn the Kootenays to visit us Canadians in July. Brian

Oh Gawd Boomer ya gone and done it now, theres an image burned in my brain now that I really didnt want to deal with!!!! Brian:whistling:

By default its enabled, so I doubt if he has turned it off. I like it for novice users to make it easy to fix issues like this. It does use some system resources, but you can select how much harddrive space it can use so I would rather lose a bit of performance than have to rebuild a machine for someone. Brian:think:
-
The quickest and easiest thing would be go to system restore, find the day before you started having issues, follow the directions and let it do its magic. Brian

I heartily agree Don!!!! (and the mods squad) you guys are the best, I appreciate everything you guys do to help us make it thru the day. Cougar! keep it up! youve got the worst part behind you, youve just about got that smoking thing licked. If you need a boost, just post it in here on a new thread and we ill try to walk you thru it!. If you could have one new accessory added what would it be?
friesman replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
I would like one of those fairing bras and luggage liners that Beer30 makes. I dont know if he makes the fairing bra for a G1 but i think it would sure help keep the bugs off the paint. Brian -
AND GLOBAL WARMING TOO!!!!!!!! :rotfl: Brian
