Hi BArry My Garmin Quest came with software to throw on my computer that lets me choose my route exactly, with via points, etc. I have never tried uploading from Mapquest but it looks very similar to the software i got from Garmin. Ive used mine extensively all over western Canada and the US in the SUV and on the scoot and it has only steered me slighly wrong once. ( but I do keep the maps updated) I bought my Quest from tigerdirect.ca for about 120 bux, and spent about another 50 on the harness and ram mount for the bike. Its waterproof and failry small so its easy to remove and carry when you leave the bike. Brian

At Rockets referral, I picked up some Wetskins from Costco they are available lined and unlined. They are very well made and stand up to wind and wet. I wore mine thru 800 miles of rain and cold this past summer and they kept me warm and toasty. I cant remeber the pricing but they were reasonably priced, I am guessing about 60 bucks for the unlined one (has a mesh Brian

If u all can ride as much as all that, I might hafta move south for the winters. Dont know about riding in some of the heat you ride in, but it sure would be nice not havin to winterize. Brian

I just came in from putting my bike away for the winter, and since 7 pm tonight there is about 4 inches of the white stuff on the ground. I had my last ride last Thursday, and it got to about 8c (low 40's f) , it was a nice day for a ride. ill repost the pics of the ice, the geese and the venture. http://picasaweb.google.ca/friesman1/Nov282009 I was wondering just for curiosity sake who was still riding and where they are living at. It was a gorgeous day here today, went to mid 40s f and sunny so I decided I would go for a nice ride around the parks. Wascana Lake is just starting to freeze over and the birds all seem to be gathering at the edge of the ice, too bad I was in a game preserve, coulda reached out and snagged these geese, they were so unconcerned about people. http://picasaweb.google.ca/friesman1/Nov282009 Brian:banana:

New Enough has sold Deb and I several items over the last couple of years and everything was first rate and super service, even for a return. Their prices on a HJC modular helmet with the built in sunvisor for Deb were less than half that I could buy it at around town. I always like to give my local stores a chance first before I shop the web, but anything to do with bikes in the last couple of years New enough has earned my purchase by a large margin. Brian

U will love the clearview. I changed mine out a year and half ago and i love the fact its a bit more sturdy and doesnt seem to get swirls as quick as the other windshields. I ordered mine with a vent and it really helps in the hot weather. Brian

I have an 85 G1 VR that now has 59800 kms on the clock. (or roughly 40000 miles). thats pretty good considering a year ago I thought I was going to have to part it out. Brian
-
Ya have a good bike then. I am thinking that most 85 G1's were Glorious Maxie Brown with the Marshall gold accent. There are quite a few of us around who ride the brown 85's, Some are PB&J , Gigawhiskey, and Yammer Dan. Mine is mostly maxie Brown as I didnt like the accent on the bags so i had that removed when the bags were repainted last winter. Welcome to the group!!! If you ever need a part or advice ask here, we may be able to help out! Us prairie guys gotta stick together! Brian

I am looking forward to seeing all you guys and having some fun out in Nelson area again. I love the roads out there going thru the valleys. Let me know if you need something If you want to book at the New Grand ask them for the Venture rate. (i guess the owner goes by types of bikes) they will hold 30 rooms until May for us after that everyone is on their own. Brian

hi Don Thanks for talking to Yamaha for us, we are booked again at the New Grand hotel in Nelson BC for the 2nd annual Kruisn the Kootenays rally July 1-3 2009. Last year the Yamaha dealer really stepped up and helped out donating about 15 shirts, hats, and other assorted stuff. He also gave us a tent to break the sun and to advertise him on the hotel parking lot, plus he supplied treats and drinks at the final stop of the scavenger hunt. But anything that Yamaha Canada will do would be greatly appreciated by all of us. Please feel free to give them my phone if they need a contact. Brian

I rode home tonight after my weekly meeting with another group of riders and a couple of us decided to take a tour around the lake and then go home. It was -5c (about25f) when i got home and there was frost on all the cars but the roads were perfectly dry. It was a gourgeous calm evening and the stars were out shining brightly. Brian
