What is the farthest distance you have ridden in one day?
friesman replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
In july after leaving Nelson BC and Kruisn the kootenays, I rode up to Kamloops BC with SilvrT and Nina to visit my nephew. The morning I was leaving it was cold and raining in Kamloops but I got out of the rain after going over the first mountain pass, then I wanted to keep in front of the bad weather so I rode all the way home to Regina SK in about 20 hours and had a bit over 1400 kms on the scoot that day. (870 miles). Brian -
Passing Lights - On or OFF
friesman replied to Jdix's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine are set up on a separate switch and i run them almost all the time. I feel it makes me more visible instead of just one light getting lost in the traffic or reflections, i have a group of 3 that is harder to miss. Brian- 16 replies

2nd gear repair parts cost?
friesman replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
While you have it out you should replace the old rubber engine mounts with the solid steel ones. It really stiffens up the frame and feels real solid. I really dont notice any difference in vibration , except now I can feel when its time for a can of seafoam. Brian I think they were about 50 bucks -
Who makes a trunk for my '06 RSTD?
friesman replied to BCowand's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Maybe message Vic, aka Lone Eagle in this forum. He has a gorgeous RSTD completely done and custom painted with a Harley Tour Pak on the back. It looks sharp! Brian -

Just a quick note to our American friends to let you know that this isnt happenning everywhere in Canada, it seems to be only in British Columbia (the WET..errr west......i mean dry Coast this year). There are another 9 provinces with better (or maybe worse...lol) laws in canada, but please dont paint us Canadians all with the same brush. Brian:think:

No most places in Canada insurance is run the same as the US. In a couple of the provinces, (like mine Saskatchewan) its provincially run to supposedly get everyone insured. Then, if you want to upgrade your coverage you usually have some choices for the add=ons. My scoot costs about 64 bucks a month while i ride for 500 ded on collision, liability, and fire theft etc. Last winter when it was parked it was insured for 58 bucks a year storage insurance for 5000 bucks comprehensive coverage. I almost always slip my stocking feet into the plastic grocery bags before putting on my boots if I am going out to ride in the rain. It keeps your foot dry which prevents the cold from prenetrating thru to your foot. I also do this anytime I go out in the snow, my feet are always warm and dry. Brian

I was just wondering how the heck you got so many miles on the bike this summer then.... you musta been having one of those moments when you did the oil dump (change) in the parking lot in Nelson. Glad you had a good trip, bud Brian

my 85 G1 has the 4 ways flashers that I can run in the acc position, but i can only get about an hour of run time when the engine isnt running. so switching to leds might be a good idea for th G1 bikes too. Brian

friesman replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes in fact most of us prefer USPS as they just hand it off to Canada post with no additional fees. UPS, Purolater and other couriers invent an exhorbitant brokerage fee for customs clearance that is just a cash grab. One time for an item worth 100 bucks I had a 35 charge from purolator, I told em to keep it. Brian -
oops misunderstood question, better learn to read........

An article that appeared in todays paper about a local firefighter taking his new HD on a ride through the Canadian and northern US Rockies and his encounter with a grizzly while on the bike. http://www.leaderpost.com/news/GRIZZLY+RIDE/1896340/story.html Brian

Thanks for being so diplomatic,Rick, its so unlike you.....LOL! but I have tried that, and it does it on every computer I use, whether its at home, work or play.... Dave, I have also tried deleteing everything out of the signature box and save, but, when I go to look at my signature it still has the incorrect url box in the bottom right corner... Brian
-
Cant seem to get rid of the incorrect url message in the bottom of my signature. Ive tried a few things to drop it and have deleted the code out of the box and it always reappears. I would like to change the signature but I cant as the incorrect always overwrites my new signature changes. Could any of the board mods have a look and help me out? Thanks in advance, Brian:bang head:

I had a Mazda3 for a few years before I bought my escape, and I would still have if i didnt need a bit larger car to haul my toy hauler around. It was very reliable, cheap on fuel and roomy for its size. (I am 6 feet and 300lbs) It didnt get around very will on snow and ice until I swapped out the oem tires for kumhos, then it was ok. It was a bit noisy on the hiway as it sits low you get roadnoise. But overall, I would have to say it was the best car for the money Ive ever had. Brian

Here are the pics from my vacation last week. I just got back from a week in British Columbia in and around the Kelowna and Okanagon areas. It was great, in the mid 30's most days (90's f) but there was quite a bit of smoke around from the fires in the area as it has been so dry. We visited wineries and spent most of the time at friends place just being beach bums. We rented a Street Glide for a day to see the area and I just hated it, slow,... soft, spongy forks, and very small seating area for Deb and I. It did have a great stereo though. http://picasaweb.google.ca/friesman1/LakeKalkamalkaBC Brian

updated Regulator/Rectifier Group Buy
friesman replied to Squeeze's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
put me in for the setup too! Brian -
My 85 doesnt have a bolt going up from the base into the area behind the mirror, the glass will have to come out as the head of the bolt is behind the glass threading down into the base. I was wondering about drilling a small hole in the swivel part and seeing if threading a screw in will tightnen things up. It sucks as my mirror is in great shape but at highway speeds it just doesnt stay in place at all Brian
