  1. As tomorrow is Nov 11, Canada's Remembrance Day I would like to remind everyone to please take 2 minutes for a moment of silence when it turns 11am in your area to remember all that have given their lives to make our lives and country so wonderful. Here is a video about Canada's Highway of Heroes. It really is a heart string tugger when you see everyone that turns out to honour Canada's fallen soldiers. 2. Ive ridden almost every day since the rain quit (almost every day in October was cold and wet, 5th coldest Octber on record) Its been a gorgeous November here too. Rode the scoot to work today was about -1c at 7am but in the afternoon its gonna be about 13c or 15c so probably around 50F and lots of sun!!! But i dont like the fact that the sun sets so early this time of year, by about 530pm we are starting to have dusk by 6pm its dark, so I gotta take time off work to ride...... Brian
  3. are ya sure you need them? Ive heard that if you put in progressive springs you can get rid of the antidive stuff. I could be wrong, but it might be an easier job to just put in progressives than change out the forks. I think my progressives were about 70 bucks? Ask Rocket, he was my Venture expert. Brian
  4. Best wishes for an uncomplicated surgery for both of you. Brian
  5. Do you mean to tell me you cant find it in your garage? geez I find that hard to beleive... Brian
  6. I was wondering why everyone seems to be using stabil when seafoam has stabilizer in it. i always put seafoam in the tank for storage just to keep varnish buildup to a minimum anyway so I figure i dont need stabil. I didnt have an issue last year when my bike sat from August until April with a full tank. Brian
  7. this post wasnt what I thought it would be.....lol! Tsk, tsk, tsk, noise from a rear end, what the heck is anyone sposed to think....lol! Brian
  8. watch ebay. i just bought 2 side bags off ebay in great shape with colour to match my brownie for 20 bucks each. maybe he has a trunk his online ebay name is scottie1813, maybe send him a note. Brian
  9. Sorry I dont have a spare. I would try ebay, or go back to partshark.com and look it up on their OEM microfiche and see what you need and price it out new, it might surprise you how cheap some parts are,,,,,the next time they could be lots though, its hard to know what to expect.
  10. I see that happen all the time around work where people toggle the monitor off by accident and dont know what they did. Brian
  11. I hate to burst your bubble....errr... basketball but there aint no Catfish in Round lake SK. Its only an hour from here and ive seen Northern pikes, and walleye, and perch but never a catfish I saw these pics about a year ago and that email said that these were taken on the Red River in Selkirk, just north of Winnipeg. NOW i have seen some great cats come outta there. Brian
  12. Welcome to the group!!! BTW brown 85's are the fastest!!!!!! my scoot is doing the same thing and has done it all summer. It is the neutral switch that is the culprit down by your left foot behind the rear cover. you need a llooonng screwdriver, patience and steady hand to replace it. I noticed mine was cracked last winter when the engine was apart and like a stupid fool I opted not to replace it as my parts list was already getting pretty high. Make sure you seal that up real well when putting it back together. Here is a link to Part shark and their fiche http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=45189&category=Motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=1985&fveh=127 its item 8 under electrical2 Oh Yeah, get the O-ring for it too!!! yours is 25 yrs old and brittle. Brian
  13. Geez Don, you make one mistake and you think they would let you forget it after a while.......... Brian
  14. Its starting to sound slike you guys need to talk to Carbon one or someone who is handy in the fabricating biz. It would be great to have an adapter made up to bolt onto the engine and then bolt that to an engine stand.... Brian
  15. My 85 drips antifreeze only when the temp at night drops to about 40 or less. There is a small spot under the valve when I get her started in the mornings. NOW if I could just get a handle on where the last of the oil is dripping from i would be set..... Brian
  16. I think SilvrT is right, its there for old guys like him who can't remember whehter theyve posted their joke or not.... As far as I am concerned tho, I found it kind distracting the first few posts, now I just ignore it.. Brian
  17. I just got in off a nice ride tonight. I was out for about an hour and 30 minutes around town trying to run some Seafoam thru Brownie in case i have to put her away soon. When i got in the temp was 1c (33F) but it was a gorgeous clear night with no wind, and the stars were out in full force. I did notice that when i first started out i could break the back tire loose almost at will but after I had ridden for a bit the tires must have warmed up because i was getting better grip and couldnt break the back loose nearly as easily. Brian:snow2:
  18. That might be,,,,,,but it dont make it right......... Brian
  19. I think we gotta stop this everyone against Harley attitude, in my view we are as bad as the Harley guys in a lot of ways. One of the guys in here that I consider a friend has ended his membership here in VR yesterday because of the incessant anti Harley crap. As much as the Harley guys bug us sometimes, I think we have to start checking out attitudes a bit. We like to say that we welcome all brands in here, but do we really practise what we preach? I think not. I can see where it would wear thin real quick and I think if you had a new ride, hanging out in here with everyone slagging your pride and joy all the time. :bang head: OK I am now getting off my soapbox, sorry to vent but i needed to get it off my chest. Brian
  20. youre right wizard, they dont, but Ive seen gas threads before go wwwaaayyyyy downhill real fast, so i thought I would plant the seed early. :whistling: Hey how are things goin for you guys? The trains still runnin thru there? Brian Oh.... and SilvrT... just never mind, we just know that you like to stir the pot... Brian
  21. I just stumbled on this website when reading my noon news. I was surprised by how much the consumption of Saudia oil had dropped and how much the Canadian oil imports had increased. http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_level_imports/current/import.html Brian BTW this wasnt intended to get anyone all inflamed about anything, just information. Moderators: if it goes south, please feel free to delete the post.
  22. Geez Boomer , your neighbours must sell tickets to sit an look out their living room window.....lol:whistling: Brian
  23. I think its like almost anything in life, if you do things in moderation you lessen your chances of something being able to hurt your health. Bacon and french fries are probably just as bad for you as MSG but i only eat them once in a while. Its kinda like the diet cola thing years ago when they had a rat drink the sweetner equivalent of 48 cans of diet cola a day it got tumours or something........go figure!!!!!!! I think if you overdo anything it can catch up with you, ....and almost any food catches up with me....lol! Brian
  24. I was just thinking that they were just starting to accumulate so they would have enuff lead time to get enuff crows to cover your lawn with one per birthday. Brian
  25. The CB is standard equipment on 2nd Gens I wonder where yours has gone? I think its about 700-800 bucks from yamaha Brian
