  1. Just like alot of other things---- Its who ya know sometimes!!! Not saying I'm judging one way or the other but thats the way it is,- sometimes!
  2. Can you put a car tire on a first 1989 1st gen and what size would it be?
  3. Go ahead and start drawing I think we are interested!!
  4. I agree , I would like to add some lights on the back also- especially in the trunk area!
  5. Don't feel bad Bro, 4 years ago I had complete left hand reconstructive surgery. In all 7 proceedures from Carpel Tunnel to finger joint replacement! I still have my days when I have a difficult time with my 89 VR. I too am starting the proceedure of finding a little more managable bike even tho i really really like mine. Do what you need to do to feel safe and if it meens selling you will still have the memories, just be sure to have some pix for the photo album so you can show others one of the best bikes ever built!
  6. What does scalloping look like?
  7. I ordered mine thru Fast Eddie, fast service and great service, I will definately do business with him again
  8. Just follow the write up in the tech page, place a floor jack under the motor to take the load off the front, it doesn't need to be alot just enough to stabilize it on the center stand and do remember to reduce the air pressure in the front forks then still !!!!! while taking the caps off make sure to press down on the tool because there will still be pressure unless you are also changing the oil, which I think you should, then you know for sure how much oil is going back into each tube. I am 5ft 8in. and needed to remove some things inside to lower the front some, it will depend on your height and weight. If you put in the new spring then oil and everything that the instructions say it will set pretty high in front and have quite a lean when on the side stand. Once you do it its very easy!
  9. I used a very thin line of clear latex window caulking, dries clear and can still remove down the road if need be!
  10. How many miles were on the Kenda????
  11. Gonna be on vacation next couple of weeks, see if I can find time to get ito it!
  12. MiCarl, what would bearing noise sound like for the pinion gears on the first gens? Are they a hard fix? Mine has a noise when i decelerate and apply the rear brake, Does not do it if I use only the front brake.
  13. I'm gonna put the grease zerks in my rear suspension on my 89 VR, what size and type should I pick up? Can I use the kind that push in or do they have to be threaded?
  14. I saw him there but didn't have the pleasure to speak and meet in person!
  15. My 89 VR does it also when getting on a ramp pretty hard, I believe it is just the oil being pushed away from the sensor. I saw my light come on the first time and did the same as you, now that I know what it is - like the other post said, Ride babey Ride!!!!The longer I ride this bike the more I think these motors are really hard to hurt.
  16. I will just say ditto to everyones comments. The weather was priceless, food the same and the people I met were priceless also! Brad -great job on the sync, Marcarl- if you need those sliders you know where they are. Mini got to get the boss wet!!!!! I'm thinkin next year Dunk Tank :scubadive:donations!!!!! 18. I got home a little earlier tonite, had a few other people to stop and socialize with! This was my first MD and was I pleasantly suprised. Everything was excellent from the food to the people, and what a wonderful group. Thanks to Don and his family for all the hard work and time they put into this for us, I do appreciate it! Thanks to Brad for the carbtune, you were right it really runs now, and I thought they were joking in the tent about the front wheel trying to come off the ground in second gear, and very smooth. It was nice to put some names and faces together. Hope everyone has a safe ride home. Till next time-- Pappa Bear
  19. these can be a labor of love!
  20. Welcome, I also smile when I imagine how excited you must be! We do have a wonderful country here so please enjoy yourself. Look forward to meeting you also.
  21. When we get there do we check in with someone to find out about details on where to be to work on what, and also what is the tire changer drinking? I know i can fit alot of cold liquid in the saddlebag I'll be taking off!!!! Just need to know his or her liquid of choice. One more question, will there be a donation box set up someplace there? I was gonna pay to have it changed anyway, may as well donate that toward something good. I have heard there are pond monsters in the area!!!!
  22. When I put mine in I cut the spacer in half, how much do ya think it would lower the front by totally removing the spacer? I do need to get it lower or buy boots with thicker soles!!!!!
  23. I put progressives in my 89 about a month ago, still not sure if I like them or not, feel pretty stiff even running with 0 air. Sure did raise the front end up though, and making it hard on this short guy to reach the ground!!!
  24. Are you gonna hang on to the Macs or sell them?
  25. This will be my first time to Dons and not knowing all about it,- will tire changing be available? No big deal if not. I really just want to meet everyone and get a sync done on the VR. What time should we show up and what to bring? Im willing to jump in and help!
