  8. pull the front bank spark plugs to see if they are wet! Floats may be stuck and flooding them! Good luck, these bikes can get finicky:fingers-crossed-emo
  9. Thanks everyone. I jacked up one side at a time and it only makes the sound on the passenger side. I drove the car in circles while in reverse like someone mentioned with no noticeable sounds like faulty shaft may make. So I also believe it to be the bearing assembly. Thanks everyone, I will let you know on the outcome after replacement.
  10. My wife drives an 2006 Malibu 4cyl auto. It is making a humming noise in the front end. I have rotated the tires, no change. jacked up and checked for any free play in both sides, nothing that i could feel. While still in the air with car in drive the noise is there and only changes with the speed of the wheels or vehicle speed. Don't think it is related to engine or trans cause the sound does not change with the rpm only wheel speed. The sound is not a clunking sound that I would think a bad cv joint but like the sound of big mud tires on a truck! Could it be a hub assembly going bad and not have any noticeable looseness? Any thought or help would be appreciated.
  11. Now thats funny! Your dog may eed to make a few extra trips outside for potty breaks for awhile!!!!! lol
  12. Need to sell her, asking 3500., but open to offers !! Shes a good one.
  13. Hi Folks, I think the time has come to sell my 89 VR. Mainly health reasons. Some of you saw her at Dons the past couple of years. 2 tone Burgandy with Harley exhaust. Withalot of help from here on the site I have completed new fork seals and Progressive springs, new rear tire, new brakes, new Fiestick and coax, new AGM battery, complete rear end service including drive shaft, and added Harley Utra Classic exhaust. 32k on her with a lot more in her. I rode to StLouis couple years ago, straight thru and didnt get sore except for the sunburn. I don't have any pics right now and am a novice on how to add one if could but I will try. Its Never been down that I know of , I am the second owner, plastic is very good, paint is sun faded some on the tops. I can take and send pics with my phone if wanted. Please call and we can talk price. Thanks Ron/Pappa Bear
  14. Ouch!!!!!!!! This brings back some painful memories. They had to go in and get mine also, no fun at all... Never have I had pain like that. After all is back to normal water water and more water is your best friend. I drink around 60 ounces a day now and have been stone free for 3 years. My enemy was Pepsi, drank way to much and it caused my stones. Good luck

  21. Does anyone use a Voyager kt on their 1st Gen?
  22. Any 1st Gens have a Voyager kit on their bike? I would like to talk to you about them. Pros and cons, used vs new, and what would be a good price for a used one? Yep, I have my eyes on a used one. It is just the standard model, so we will see. Thanks ( I can send pics with my phone if you would like.
  23. Remember, on the right side of the motor is where the water pump and all the plumbing is. There will be alot of heat trying to escape there especially at that elbow!
  24. What are the odds two people would be working on 2 bikes both 89 VR and messing with the speedo cable? I just walked in the house from putting mine back together, just doing maint on mine, thought I was hearing a ticking from the speedo! Once you get the windshield off take the 2 phillips screws that are the easiest to reach all the way out, be carefull not to drop, and only loosen the 2 that you just cant seem to get to farther back, 45% screwdriver is the answer. Slide the black trim staight back toward the seat and off, I think there were 4 nuts and washers holding the cluster in, again I took off the easy ones, dont drop!!! :bang head:the other 2 I took off and did not put back on. Now you can lift the cluster and get to the cable. and now would be the time to do the maint while you are in there! Good luck. ps remember to wipe the fingerprint from the inside of the shield before you put it back on:080402gudl_prv:
