  1. I think it's a good idea, that way would be easier to find there products and services. that freebird always coming up with ways to improve this site. way to go Don
  2. like Earl said you need to take care of this before it takes out more parts, the barnett unit cost way more than earls and both are good ,for the money you can't go wrong with Earls kit i wish he had it when i did mine two years ago.
  3. Here is a pic of the barnett spring converision
  4. Ya i know what it is it's the pressure plate or (spring plate) that comes stock on the mk11 first gens . i replaced it in my 87 with the Barnett pressure plate mod or you could use the kit skydoc sells in the first gen parts and ect. in the classifieds. Most of the time the friction plates and steel plates are ok but you need to check them to be sure. It would be best to replace at least the friction plates if you don't know how many miles the clutch has on it. The steel plates if they don't have burn marks on them can be reused just sand them with 1000 grit to ruff them up a bit. I like the Barnett system i have on my bike and it will pull the front tire when i shift to second gear(just ask B2Dad) he seen it.

  8. that has been going on with the metzeler tires for a couple of years now and is why most people wont use them. most use dunlop E3s or Avon tires but some have had problems with the avons cracking. I have the E3s on my bike and i love them.
  9. I used one from autozone cst7513 is the one i bought but you can also use napa#bk7032443 or a stant #10227
  10. my 87 was doing this two months ago and i replaced the fan switch with the vmax switch that turns on at a lower temp. and changed the raditor cap and now it run at the middle of the green. i would start with replaceing the cap first since it is the chepest to do , i used a cap i got at napa.

  16. i have a spare Tom TOM Rider with ram mount and headset with one speaker that had map updated last year i would trade. let me know if intrested and i could send pics
  17. i put the e3s on my 87 late last year and have 5000 miles on them and i love the handling, grip in wet weather and like you said tar snakes no longer a problem and they still look new. i had e2s on before and could still tell a differance in the e3s handling. best tires for the money and wear that i have found and will be buying again when i wear these out.
  18. There are new starters on ebay for vmaxs for $106.00 and $91.90 type in yamaha vmax then click on motorcycle and parts will come up.
  19. i am planning on going to this one but i might have to go back to work some time in Sept. or so my old employer says but i think i will not go back until after this meet. . hey Bill what bike are you taking on this trip.
  20. i also did the dano starter clutch upgrade last year and have had no problems since. It is well worth doing, my bike starts up first time every time no matter how cold it gets and with the battery cable upgrade it doesn't drag when hot, like they say it will be the last time you will ever have to do anything to the starter clutch.
  21. I have rode a 08 fjr a friend has and it toped out at 179 mph in top gear so you might want to twist the gas a little harder, so i think it will go faster than a 1st gen because i could only get my 1st gen up to 135 mph (clocked by leo friend with his speed gun)
  22. Hi Joe i have a friend that has AAA road service i think it's the rv upgrade that covers his cars and his bike. long story short while we were in wyoming last year he had a flat on the rear , called AAA and had them tow it 100 miles to nearest shop and there was no charge. Bike shop charged him $180 for tire mounted and bal with new valve stem and that was with it still on the bike, so yes they stuck it to ya. thank's for the info of were not to stop in tennessee. i forgot there labor to change it was $45. took about half an hour
  23. count me in for one XXXL
  24. Hi ken i know your pain had mine removed a year ago, went in on thursday at noon an they told me i could go home on friday at 3 pm. It took about 2 months before i could go back to eating what i wanted. Once you get past the 1st. week you will start feeling better. Now the part they don't tell you is once you wake up after surgery your belley is going to let you know it's there so don't be shy about hitting the button for the pain meds (i hit mine every 15 min.) IT's only about 4 small cuts that they make one for the camera ,one to pull it out, the other two to do whatever they do. anyway good luck my friend it's really not that bad just take it easy and don't push it. Ed
