    i just got an "I" basket installed....and the dealer says to contact him in 90 days and if yamaha doesn't want the "G" basket back....i can have it.....maybe the fairing is the same way..

    not much more to report.....the connection you are talking about is the stock connector from the stator....some say it can corrode and inhibit current..and i believe that.......but.....when you get the upgrade stator, that problem is eliminated because you solder (sic?)..the wires together..............so i shouldn't have that problem i just made a run and my voltage shows about 13.9 with high beam.......13.5 +/- with passing lamps......and a few days ago when i used my heated vest and gloves, voltage was not much over 12......so im discouraged i don't know the wattage, but the jacket liner is gerbings . and the gloves were won in a contest from yamaha and i forget the make.....i guess there could be a problem with the heated clothes....but they work..... there are people on this site that know way more than me about this system....i don't wanna steer you wrong.......maybe they will chime in......plus, do a search on this site.....this topic has been discussed many times........

    sparksterr ...i'm no expert..i do understand basic electric circuits, charging, discharging, batteries etc...and i've learned a lot more on this site......but i think i've finally given up on my venture and it's charging system....ironic that you just made your post. i have installed the high output stator, new battery last year, and for good measure,a new regulator....i have run/turn/brake lights (incandescent)..switched from 55w to 35w running lamps and no other additional lighting....battery cables are good, tight, and connections are clean.....and when i plug in a heated vest and gloves...i watch my voltage drop from 13.6 (plus or minus) to around 12.2....if i switch to the headlight only, then voltage goes back up to 13 plus.....others on here say that they can run a lot more than i have and they have no problem with the stock system....so...i don't know ..... it appears that the higher stator hasn't made a difference......

    yes........and if i hit #67 before i dial a number...it will show restricted on the receiver's phone...

    i had a 2003 electra glide standard...i really liked it......but,at 35,000 miles and to make a long story short...the motor went bad and it was gonna be $4500 for a new one, and just one year warranty.....so......here i am........

    on my bike :.....oil pressure runs to 60 at startup........stays around 38-40 at normal temp, in 5th gear at 65 mph indicated...it will go to 50psi -60 if i shift to 4th and hit the throttle...........at idle,around 5psi

    i 'll let someone else answer that.........i've had mine since day one, it's not bad and hasn't gotten better or worse...and the new basket is not a guaranteed fix...but i've read enough stories on this site to decide to give it a try......

    just wanted to say that yamaha of camp hill, pa., did me right yesterday....i've decided to try the "I" basket and went to their dealership to discuss it....initially, he said he didn't know anything about it but when i showed him posts on this web site about the "whine"..he called yamaha , they told him it was a legit complaint ....so the part is ordered , no questions asked.....

    congratulations....i was out of work for 3 years with 3 kids to support in the 80's.....so i know what it feels like...it was no fun...

    very common problem with these bikes.......dielectric grease usually takes care of it...

    seaking my radio did the same thing...replaced by yamaha, did the same thing...........from info on this site, i disconnected the connectors in the fairing, put dielectric grease in all of them...have not had a problem since....

    past 1970 honda cl 100 1971 honda cb 450...extended forks, highrise sissy bar, megaphone pipes, foot rests.... 1976 honda 550f..vetter fairing...first new bike 1979 honda goldwing 2003 harley e-glide..standard present 1975 honda 550f 2007 venture most special was the 450...made my first trip with it...went to college on it as i didn't have a car at the time....

    i don't know where the center of gravity is on the harley or the venture.......i do know that it was easier turning the harley and it weighs about 60 lbs, give or take ,less....the harley doesn't have water jackets, radiator, ..the venture is just a bigger bike.....and it gets "interesting" when you tight turn it...

    i don't think there is a trick......you're right, the venture has a higher center of gravity and , because of that , it just takes more practise......the electra glide i had was a lot easier.....it weighed less also......i'm getting better with my venture......but , just like you, have the same feeling of going over........i think it just takes more practise....and because i don't wanna pay for dings and scrapes from letting the bike fall over......i take it slow with how far i go with my practise....

    i have : 3, 50w, 32 degrees....2, 50w 12 degrees...and 2, 30w, yamaha..........passing lamps, par36....the 50w are sold under the haloXen name...they all work shipping is included....however, since i don't know how fed ex ground handles canada...i won't send them there FIRST COME....FIRST SERVED....

    take some time and go through this site...there is tons of info from lots of people that can help you make decisions as to what you can/should do to make this bike what you want it to be.....also, you will learn the strengths and weak points.......i like this bike more every year...

    i have found that when i do my trips...not planning stops is the greatest way to travel.......which leads to ending up in unique places to stay......and i'm trying to get to a rolling thunder... M&E means "meet and eat"
