this was suggested by someone on this site and i used it for my 2nd gen.......i took heat shrink tubing, put it on where it comes through the grommet...this took up the slack and made a snug fit.....but i also used the yamaha "stuff" ( can't think of name)....as a guarantee, but i didn't have to use much

i agree with dielectric grease not being conductive.......so why did it fix my connections up in the fairing for the radio system....did it just snug things up ?

i'm not answering for squidley....but an engine has an operating rpm range where it is making the best power and torque for maximum efficiency....i believe the venture's engine likes a min of 3500 up to 5000..and still pulls good even higher, but i'm talking efficiency not max acceleration......laymen's terms....you may be operating at a lower rpm, but your throttle is open more than what it would be if you were at a higher rpm....so you can be using more gas.....example...i run at 55mph in 4th gear...my rpm is , say, 3800 rpm's...throttle is open 1/4.....jump into 5th gear, rpm's drop to 3000, now i open the throttle more to compensate .......there is a crossover point where too high rpm's will give less gas mileage....but the idea is to stay in an engine's power curve....which is why we have gears.... -
i don't know if the 09 specs are different than my 07...but..my manual says 10w-30 or 20w-40.....so i wouldn't run an oil classified as 50...

yep, i'd say the sweet spot on this bike starts at 3500 rpm's..at 4000, it is smooth as silk....i've gotten the same mileage at 65 mph...in 4th or 5th....and in 5th at 65 it feels like the motor is pounding.....especially if i give it the gas....i've gotten to where i don't let the rpms go below 3500 when cruising........ -
sure.....shipped today........
-
i bet he didn't check your floats at all.......according to posts on this site and the manual...it is a tedious job and the carbs have to be upside down to measure the float levels.......but if your problem is solved, good for you....
-
the tank is all stripped of any emblems, float, petcock, etc.....i don't and can't figure shipping cause i don't have any readily available info such as weight and size ...and don't wanna spend time trying to figure it out...... i'm waiting for bubber to respond as he was first...got an e-mail from someone, so they're second...............but i ain't gonna wait too long...tank is ready to ship..it's taking up space.......it has been washed out, dried, and then sprayed inside with wd-40

no..no hijack.....actually, ...i took a course in "stupid me 101"...and i passed........... ...had the bike in the back of my truck after my trip and had undone all the tiedowns to unload it.....bike was on sidestand......decided that i wanted to reposition the truck...and instead of putting at least one tie back on..i didn't.....cause i thought i could move the truck without tipping the bike......so the result is what the side rail of a truck does to a thin metal tank.....
-
what do you mean ...more to this story..........there is no story.......

sideoftheroad here is a pic of the tach that is in this gauge pod......autometer does or at least did...make a tach for our 2nd gens

sounds normal to me.....mine does the same thing........it never comes on when i'm riding, even down in az., and nm....and it's 100 degrees........and when i just let it sit and idle to check the fan...my handheld temp reader shows about 220 when it comes on, and about 210 when it shuts off....and the fan doesn't stay on long at all.....
-
here..............and thats a piece of grass on the lower left....

i have my 2007 venture black tank for anyone who wants it.....rt side has good size dent...tank has about 15,000 miles on it.....i need about $25 for shipping.....check ,cash...not setup for credit card or paypal.........first come.... (tried to place ad....never works)

not to add further rain.....but did you check the amp requirement for that compressor and then the fuse size of the circuit your using it on?....i bought a compressor at autozone that was really small, came with built in gauge, on and off switch...but needed 15 amps...and the lighter is only 5 amps...so i took it back............if your connecting directly to your battery, then no problem....
-
when i searched last year for gauges....1 1/2 gauges were the smallest around..and not a big selection.......except! for mini gauges in a rectangle pod made in the 70's.........which i scored on ebay, and now have no use for.......... tx2......yep, they'd be neat........
-
2 are no problem....would look great.......basically a 2 inch gauge, and with the bezel width, 3 gauges would require a triangle arrangement....
-
i think they'd be awsome.....but they aren't 1 1/2 inch are they?.......but mounted in a triangle type arrangement would fit...
-
bikerjohn the mechanical connections are easy......the posts on this installaton are in the 2nd gen tech library.......plus, ponch sells entire kits.........but a voltmeter connection is easy.....one wire, normally red, is the positive wire and is connected to a "hot" source....for the most accurate reading some run a wire directly from the battery....another wire is used as a ground...and a third wire is for backlighting......any gauge kit will have the instructions.. water temp gauge is connected to the left rear cyl using the temp probe with the gauge, and an adapter oil pressure gauge is connected by removing a plug from the lower right side of the bike by your foot....replacing that plug with an adapter...and running the small diameter line up the neck , to the fairing and then to the gauge.....
-
you have room to go to a two gauge plate height wise..and width wise....your half circle cuts would be bigger in diameter.....the only question is the white "box" that the cassette player is mounted in...and the height of that box opening....but i believe that could be worked to accomodate bigger gauges than the 1 1/2 inch gauges i started with...how much bigger you could go i couldn't answer......also, you might have to machine a little of the top part of the opening....
