  1. newventure i just purchased roadhouse pipes....i listened to sound bites on this web site and on you tube,...plus, many comments on different pipes on this site......which you need to do also....and these seemed to fit the bill of low rumble ,not loud.....well they do have a low rumble , but they were still too loud for me at cruise...i wasn't gonna waste $360........so... i squeezed the middle of the baffles down ....and stuffed a copper scrub pad in each one ..couldn't find stainless steel yet....it's a lot better...also...there is no chrome around one of the mounting tabs...the copper is showing...and i mention that because another post on here mentioned their pipes were showing rust........ good luck...
  2. i have always filled the oil filters on my cars if they were mounted vertically....this brings oil pressure to the engine almost instantly..instead of waiting for it to fill.......horizontally mounted, i didn't ....
  3. are you checking the level in the sight glass with the bike level ?....if you are and the glass is full, ...then you are overfilled.....i believe that would cause your problem...if on the side stand...that's a BIG overfill !
  4. they replaced my handlebar controller ...and i still had a problem that developed late...greasing my connections solved my problem.....so, i guess it's hard to say which is causing the problem for you.....i would think they would start with the handle bar controller......
  5. newventure slip-on pipe experiences are very subjective...if you google pipes on this site you will see many different opinions....my experience ..just last week i decided..after listening to videos from this site and you tube... to try roadhouse brand pipes...they seemed to have the lowest rumble ...but they proved to be too loud at cruise ( loud being another debateable topic)....now i've got $360 pipes i may not be able to use.....gonna try the stainless steel scrub pad stuff-in-pipe theory to tone 'em down.....most people swear by the harley pipes...but i couldn't find any videos to listen to....
  6. no....not since i greased the connections and tie wrapped them as best i could
  7. My story, 07 venture...replaced with "I" basket.....drastic improvement.....no leveling links, no 130 tire...carbs synched...high output stator........E3 tires...clearview shield....love bike.......the end.
  8. actually....no....the manual states you should be at 13.8 volts..at the rpms your talking about...and like others stated here..measured at the battery.........my gauge shows around 13.8 - almost 14...with passing lamps off, high beam on.......13.5 at idle is good..at around 1000 rpm's.......so idle is good..but your cruising rpm voltage is low...........i have the high output stator...but you should still be higher than 13.5 at speed...
  9. i'd never run tire pressure over the max limit stated on the tire.... and i don't understand how a tire can be better or worse on tar snakes unless the tread channels are so deep that the tire is able to make contact with the road surface under the tar......and i've yet to see a motorcycle tire with the deep tread blocks needed to accomplish that , except dirt track tires.......the tire rides on top of the tar and the shearing action of the tar under the tire makes the bike slide.......if i take my foot and step on a tar line, my foot wiggles the tar....

  13. i've searched the tach install threads...and what i need to know is.....what is the white wire for on the rt frnt coil....and the red/black wire ,which is common for all the coils... thanks
  14. i've got a small rectangular bag that harley made to put in the electra glide standard's radio/stereo space....it holds my wallet and my compact 45....and has loops to put your belt through...works great...
  15. yep....the adjure lamps......same thing with me...
  16. and for those interested...the estimate to fix my 07 that was blown over.....$4500.00.........wind can be expensive
  17. go to second gen tech library.....seat section
  18. can i come and yell with you.........and the 69 chevelle is what got me hooked on muscle cars in the late 60's...
  19. you should have no problem with your 99.....my experience with my 86 monte carlo and my 75' honda , however, did prove the leak theory as the monte was bone dry underneath until i went to mobil 1, and the honda headgasket area which is prone to seepage, started leaking bad....but these vehicles are what i consider old... newer vehicles supposedly have better gaskets and i believe that....but... if you switch and start to show leaks you didn't have before...then switch back...
  20. i'm at work and i get a phone call from scheduling.....it appears that the local storm...BLEW my bike over !!.....i don't know if it actually blew it over or blew it forward and it fell...either way, the parking garage guy says major damage to faring....this is an 840 lb bike.....hard to believe...the bike is parked next to the office under the parking ramps...on concrete...it's not really out in the open.....i just finished mounting new tires, carbon 1 braces, new plugs, carb sync.........anyone ever heard of this with a bike this heavy..??
  21. the "I" basket worked for me.....
  22. are these readings before or after the bike has warmed up..remember that the carb heaters come on when you put the bike in gear and if the outside temp is low enough ( i forget what temp they come on)....they will turn off once the bike warms up and it's not too cold outside....they draw a lot.....55w running lamps take a lot also
  23. you don't have to use yamaha oil.......but if you use an oil that does not meet the specifications stated in the manual...that can void any warranty work yamaha says was caused by using that oil......
  24. what goose said...
