  1. A friend of mine lost his OS. I took the had drive out and plugged it into my mac and everthing was still there. I copied his pics to a couple of dvds for him.
  2. I reject your reality and substitute my own!
  3. Anybody know if they use dynamic or condenser mics? If they are condenser they won't work unless you power the mics.
  4. I bought a 1981 maxim 550 in about 1984. Other than scads of tires and miles of chain I never had to do anything with it. I rode it for 20 years and gave it to my brother in law this spring. Without a doubt the best machine I have ever owned.
  5. Was that all brokerage fees? Or were Canadian taxes added in there, too? You likely got a bill from the brokerage company which included all fees and taxes. You can specify your own broker for imports - some take a smaller bite than others. But you can't escape the tax man on imports - no matter which side of the border you live on. They charge you the same taxes as if you bought it in Canada and the brokerage house is just a tax collector for the Gov't. The USA does the same thing. So much for "free trade". I paid for the item + shipping at the time of purchase. Total COD charges were in excess of 30% of the total value. At the time there was not much I could do except suck it up and politely pay the bill. Then I went home, stuck my face in a pillow and cried like a girl.

    GPS Mount

I am such a cheapskate I built my own mount. Nothing more than a chunk of flat iron and a fuel line clamp from an 8.3 L cummins. Visible just above the handlebar and close enough to the windshield that it only got the odd drop of rain on it during light to moderate monsoons with some hail.
  7. I bought a used laptop from the states a few years ago. The brokerage fees were about 20%. Wait, it gets better, they won't deliver to me because I live out of town, but for an extra fee they can drop it off at the UPS store in town. That was the last time I have used there services.
  8. Mine rattled itself right off the bike. Worse yet I had to walk out in the slough to retrieve it! It now has a Ujoint strap bolted to one of the bars from underneath.
  9. I believe you have to jump pins 1 and 7 on the cable that would pug into the cassette deck.
  10. I believe you have to jump pins 1 and 7 on the cable that would pug into the cassette deck.
  11. The gizmo was in the 84 VR trunk. Top transmission shift cover for the brothers 5 ton truck broke down in a parking lot.
  12. The only lock up I have had on mine was when the cement truck ran the stop sign.
  13. We were through that area in july. Incredible country!!! My favorite was forestry road 25 down the east side of Mt. St. Helens.. I hope to do it again some time.
  14. After careful consideration and waiting for the 2010 venture I have bought a new to me toy. 2007 wing with EFI. It sure dose have a lot of buttons though! On the way home while trying to find the auto wave button I may have accidently launched the space shuttle. I still intend to hang out here cause I still have the 84 and I think it will still make a good service truck. ( That would be a shift cover from a 5 ton truck this spring ). Besides you guys make me laugh, and after looking at my bank balance, I need a good laugh!
  15. That is one mighty fine schematic! Thanks, it will likely come in handy!
  16. You mean this one? I had built a set from wallmart parts, Worked reasonably well. http://www.delusional-mechanic.com/
  17. 1984 royal. I lost 2nd in sept 2008. Repaired at 94674.1Km january 2008.
  18. The filter housing o ring isn't so hard, if you put some grease in the grove for the o ring it will stay in place during install.
  19. Hmmm, if I started now, in a year or two, I might have the course memorized.
  20. sounds like you had a great holiday! great pics! Soooo, all of that and more out there, eh! Hmmmmmm!
  21. I have done it on purpose just before going through an intersection in fast heavy traffic. It would be the same attitude as an aircraft doing a run up before take off. I want to be sure its firing on all four and good to go. (Cases where you cannot afford a sputter). Anything else would be a through back to the cruddy carberated vehicles I have driven.. and still own.
  22. Congrats on a great trip! Kinda worth doing again isn't it? We just got home last night as well and also have a pile of pics. Wow, 5000 miles!, and I thought we were ambitious at 2900 miles last week.
  23. While we were on holidays this week our daughter was going to stay with one of our best friends. We just recieved this email. At Andy's right now, turns out we(I) couldn't've picked a worse time to visit. They're suffering something(understatement) of a family crisis. At something like 6:00-30 some drunk driver crossed the center line and killed three family members- I don't know all the names, but it sounds like an Aunt Rita, a grandmother, and an uncle. Two were killed on impact and the uncle died in hospital. I didn't think I should call at midnight, and I don't think I could've stung the words together anyways. Emotions are... running high, to say the least. Love, and stay safe for the love of God Shyrstyne End: cry Begin: rant
  24. When I bought mine it had a pull to the left, not bad but like you describe always there. Here was my thinking. If there is just a misalignment between the front and rear wheel the bike would dog track but not pull. The front wheel has a lot of caster (keeps wheel straight), both wheels should have 0 camber. Camber was only thing that I could think of that would create a pull. I found all pins and bushing in the swing arm had a lot of wear. Replaced them all and now it rolls just fine. I wouldn't expect to see a bunch of wear in yours but it might not hurt to check the preload on the swing arm bearings. I never could figure out a way to accurately measure camber. Just a thought.
  25. I wonder if its this one?
