    So,

Short answer....It won't run. Not enough heat to ignite gasoline. Drain the tank, change the filters, add conditioner. It should be fine. Its great fun when a highway truck comes in with 500 liters or more of gasoline in the tank. edit: (After a quick google) you should have a high presser common rail. If it ran till it quit you could have an issue getting it started again. (gas in the rail) You may have to drain and bleed the rail. ick.
  2. It only cost me $11.82... Hmmm, did I forget to throw in my ?
  3. sounds like a 'mico lock'. I have seen them installed on old grain trucks. A lot more effective than the POS driveline bake when unloading on a hill. I am surprised they still make them. Never seen one installed in a passenger vehicle though.
  4. You mentioned ABS. When I was shopping I knew what ABS was, what it did, how it worked and I was will to pay for it. Was it a deal breaker at the time?...no. Although I have not yet had call to need it in the wild, I have tried it out in every road condition I could think of from dry pavement to muddy gravel. IMHO it works very well. Will it be a deal breaker on my next bike?.....there is a good chance, That would be a hard one to give up.
  5. Keep in mind it is impossible to diagnose anything over the internet but to me you symptoms sound like a bad ground.
  6. I get to keep my licence:dancefool: But then I have an advantage. Two of my kids have just been through it and the third is coming up.
  7. I guess I am in a more unique circumstance. A quick trip around town includes 20 minuets of highway..each way. I like my big fat highway bike and haven't missed my smaller bikes that I have sold or given away. Maybe if I get old and move to town that will change. So currently I am down to just the wing and the VR. The wife says the VR has to go this spring.
  8. Dear Winter: I thought we have already been though this -30C and snow thing but hear we are again! I can't continue to go through this over and over. This relationship is not working for me. The problem is with YOU, not me, it's YOU! I think it's time I start seeing other seasons.
  9. I am thinking it a gl1800. A nice one too. The tail light has 3 metal studs in the tail light plastic. Likely one of the nuts has bad threads and has broke the stud lose from the plastic. If this is the case it can be a bit nasty. I think I would start with a cutoff disk and cut the stud and nut off from the inside. Maybe a carbide bit to cut the nut off? It looks like there is room to work with the top one and the one to the outside. The one to the inside is in a bit of a hole. I hope this helps. Scotty
  10. first of all congrats on the new bike:thumbsup: I am assuming that this is a new bike out of the crate and your concern is break in procedure for the trip home. Break in should be a variance of rpm and load and is, for the most part, done in the first hour of operation. The reality is, IMHO, break in is not as critical as a lot of people think. As long as it doesn't sit at idol for 12 hours(that happend once:doh:) or you run it at full throttle all the way home it will be fine. Normal driving will suffice just fine but it would be nice if it got a nice sprint in there some where. From a stop to highway speed is perfect.(and fun)
  11. I took my 84 on holidays, over 6800Km (4,000miles) trip with no mechanical problems. Of course I did price out a U-haul truck from the farthest expected point from home just in case. I too suffer from 'mechanics syndrome' -- every mechanic that I have know has questioned the reliability of their vehicle prior to a trip. They will go through the vehicle with a fine tooth comb before the trip. They will usually replace at least 1 good serviceable part just because it makes them feel better. Will usually give it a good mechanical check over daily while on the trip. How do you avoid worrying about mechanical problems while on a trip? I haven't got a clue, but if you figure it out let me know. If its good mechanical shape at time of departure It would be highly unlikely that you would have any problems.

    speed plowing

It looks like the guy in the back blew up his turbo. Judging from the exhaust pipe the guy who won probably wasn't far from it either. People will race anything. Fun to watch though.
  13. I just watched it. Both the misses and I enjoyed it. Its a very deep soul searching movie with great scenery.
  14. You couldn't pay me enough to drive them things for a living. The occasional test drive can be fun though.
  15. I just gave mine away last fall. I'm trying to upgrade. Still got a truck camper of the same vintage if yer interested.:rotf:

  20. I hate to burst your bubble Yammer..... but the wing is faster.
  21. These buttons are not backlit. see pic. everything else should light up. There should be no problem doing your own service but you do want to keep a record of it. I have updated the firmware but the maps are still the stock 2005:doh: scotty
  22. I seriously considered it. Is that worth half points? Congrats! Its a nice bike!
