  1. canadian highway traffic safety act: Motorcyclists to wear helmet 104. (1) No person shall ride on or operate a motorcycle or motor assisted bicycle on a highway unless the person is wearing a helmet that complies with the regulations and the chin strap of the helmet is securely fastened under the chin. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 104 (1). Anything else is personal choice and I respect that. I do think a lot of people overlook footwear though. Having had to kick at the seat with my right foot to get my left foot out from under a bike, I'm a personal fan of full ankle coverage. Also from the canadian highway traffic safety act: Horse-riders, helmets and footwear 104.1 (1) No person under the age of 18 years shall ride or be mounted on a horse on a highway unless that person has and is correctly using the following equipment in the manner that it was designed to be used: 1. A helmet that complies with the requirements under the Horse Riding Safety Act, 2001. 2. Footwear that complies with the requirements under the Horse Riding Safety Act, 2001. 2001, c. 4, s. 4. Man I lead a boring life.
  2. Go with whatever makes you comfortable and delivers a smooth dependable shift. When driving a highway truck I don't use the clutch. When riding the bike I always use the clutch. I bought a pickup with a bad 3rd gear syncro and it likes to be double clutched.
  3. I wish mine had the air bag:crying:. Oh well, maybe when I trade it off.
  4. About an hour from here. I'd love to go check it out for you! Scotty
  5. The mics from a computer headset are condenser mics and will not work with this system without being externally powered. However, if you use an ear bud as a mic it will work just fine. Scotty
  6. It kinda sounds like its not getting air through the condenser. It will drive both sides high. The only oddity is the low side is not climbing as well. (Could the charge be low as well as plugged condensor?) Check the pipes in and out of the condenser. Out should be just above ambient air temp, in should be hot. (if out is too hot to hang on too, it's not cooling) 50 psi/ 250psi are about right. 450psi is WAY too high.
  7. My oldest just moved out last week. It still feels weird walking by an empty room. One down two to go. In the mean time while the kids are gone, ignore the laundry and enjoy your holidays!
  8. I have a cassette deck in my 1980 dodge truck. Somebody broke in and left two tapes.
  9. NOBODY said anything about an age requirement to me! Dang, now I have to be on the lookout for wingcops too.
  10. Mine shows 7% fast according to the GPS. Maybe it's trying to save me a speeding ticket?
  11. We are on our way! currently in golden. see you there. Try your best to keep rocket under control eh!
  12. Congrats on the new bike! It looks sharp! What is the difference between a Gold Wing and a logging truck? 1. About 40 pounds and a stuffed animal. 2. Logging trucks don't throe sparks when they go around corners. 3. Logging trucks need all their lights. 4. Logging trucks will usually pull over to let you pass. 5. Logging trucks must stop at weigh stations. 6. Logging trucks don't all look alike. 7. Logging trucks are not as wide. 8. Nobody ever built a three wheel logging truck. 9. You can't get a 400-pound woman on a logging truck. 10. A logging truck can make a U turn. :rotf:
  13. I am not sure of the exact conditions you were on so I can't say for sure. I have ridden gravel all of my life with the exception of 5 years that I lived in town. Anything under 20 or 30 Kph and you start to really lack stability. Basically the faster you go the more stable it gets, if you get bent out of shape, the faster you are going the more bent out of shape you get. kind of a double edged sword. I run between 60 KpH and 110 KpH depending on the road. (but I have had a lot of practice) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOPyh4B8aNA]YouTube- Goldwing on gravel.m4v[/ame]

    Twins Again

    She most defiantly looks HAPPY!
  15. The best measurement I could get with a tape measure was 104 inches with the wheel straight and 101 with the front wheel at lock. This is from the tip of the front wheel to the back of the trunk. The trunk sticks out more than the saddle bags and exhaust. Hope this helps Scotty
  16. My daughter got her class 6 (motorcycle licence). She has been to dairy queen twice already.
  17. I am a wingnut and proud of it! On an unrelated note I also happen to have a goldwing. I am keeping my first gen so I can hang out here.
  18. First of all congrats herb! Only comparing to a first gen, as a second gen is a bit of a different animal... Wind and rain are similar except if I open the foot warmers my toes don't get wet. Passenger leans back more on the wing. I had to raise the floorboards as my wife is short and it was cutting her off at the thighs. (wide seat) Storage is noticeably better on the wing. Clutch on the wing is an off/on switch! Brakes are touchy but easy to get used to. I tried the ABS in the parking lot. It works quite well. Longer wheelbase and clutch control on the wing makes it a bit of a logging truck at very low speeds but goes away when rolling. Quite a bit heaver on the front end and will dig a bit when making a u turn in a wheat field. Not as top heavy as the venture. I think the cornering clearance on the venture is better but its still enough to be fun! 19. I was looking at them last fall. I asked the salesman if I could get a test ride. He said if I wanted to put down a $36,000 deposit, No problem. I never did get to ride one.
  20. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDY6bWT5oTM]YouTube- Corb Lund - Truck Got Stuck[/ame] Apparently written after big valley jamboree in camrose. I heard about the canola seed, Mighty unhappy people over that!

  22. You have a hard question only you and your wife can answer. My wife has been on the back when we dated, on our honeymoon, 9 months pregnant, I remember many times coming home from work with my wife coming out of the house with her helmet saying 'the baby's asleep, take me to the end of the driveway!' Other than riding to work it is rare that I ride alone. I do what I can to stack the odds in my favour, Proper gear, don't drink and drive, stay alert, don't take unnecessary risks, etc. Interesting thought #1 Am I more carful when my wife is with me? I have to answer no. When riding alone I want to make it home to see my wife and family! Interesting thought #2 My dad was up for a visit this winter. We were in the garage admiring the new bike. He started telling stories of his younger riding days, a lot of good laughs there. (Mom never cared for bikes and the triumph was sold shortly after they were married. He never rode again.) He paused and said "you know, i think you did a good thing buying that bike.... you get too old way too quick" It almost sounded like some regret in his voice. As far as an answer, if I had all of the answers, I wouldn't have to work for a living.
  23. Your probe is likely corroded and not completing the circuit. You could try cleaning it with steel wool. I think I still have one here if you want it. Scotty
