Was wondering if i can wipe out hard drive in a dell and put in macbook soft ware to run like a macbook?? Anyone know if this is possiable?

I plan on converting my record collection to mp3s (ya not the greatest archiving way but better than never listening to them now) I see lots of software but how the heck to you get from 2 RCA jacks to a macbook? I dont plan on hooking up my stereo again but rather go from the turntable to a what? Do I need a pre-amp to digital converter? Can anyone recommend some hardware for a macbook?
