  1. I have one for you. Asking price is $50 + whatever shipping amounts to. Poledar:thumbsup2:
  2. Earl, Somehow I had a feeling you would make the best of this recuperation time, and it surely looks like you have! Very cool look with the LED's! Hoping to see you on the road again when the Doc says go for it! Poledar
  3. Margaret, We are all glad that Jeff will be home in a few weeks. I'm sure it has been a difficult time while he was away, but the homecoming will be a celebration worthy of note!!! May God keep His eyes and His hand on Jeff through these last days. Poledar
  4. I can't swear to it, but if you push the issue, there should be something available per the mfr. of the tire. And for the price the guy stuck it to you with, it should be a lifetime one!!! Good luck!
  5. First off, congratulations on losing all the weight. Your life is and will be better for that alone. Now as to the tummy tuck et al, good luck there too. Pants get cheaper as they get smaller, which is a great side benefit. You go, my man!!!!!
  6. Freezy, that is what is known in the tire industry as road hazard. If you pay as little as $7.50/tire at the time of purchase, there is a prorated replacement policy in nearly every tire manufacturer's bag of services offered.
  7. Ken, Just as an aside, check to see that the side stand switch isn't hung up. That will not kill the battery, but will keep the bike from starting. Good luck!! POLEDAR:fingers-crossed-emo:starz:
  8. The VTS was a great group of folks, and we had some great rallies in the "old days". There were things that were difficult to cope with, such as organizational folks at local levels. I headed up New York State for 7 years, and we got to 5 chapters before I moved out of NY, and we had some great times within the groups as well as interacting with adjacent states and Canadian provinces. It was very different from the Venturerider program, in that there were meetings, dues, etc....a little too organized at times. I have not been involved with the MTA as I was out of biking for several years, but any good group is....a good group, and they DO like Ventures, so cannot be ALL BAD!!!
  9. Master Guns, Can you give an abbreviated list of all that you did? I have an '86 and a backup with engine. Primary has 91K and the 2nd has 60K. I'm wondering if it's worth the rework to go through one of them completely. Thanks. Poledar:confused24:
  10. I'm pretty sure those are the same throughout the 1st Gens. In any case, I have both right and left. If you are interested, let me know. I can use the garage space!!! Poledar:fingers-crossed-emo
  11. Add me to the list of those sending best wishes and prayers in support. May a happy recovery:fingers-crossed-emo be just around the corner!
  12. That is like the little girl riding her new Christmas bicycle down the street and a mounted policeman commented on what a nice bicycle it was and asked her if it was new and she had gotten it for Christmas. She said she had, whereon the policeman gave her a $5 ticket and told her to have her father install a rear reflector. The little girl returned the "courtesy" saying he had a nice horse. Was it new? He said no. She then said that when he got another one, they should put the dick under the horse, not on top!!!
  13. Take the MSF course first, discuss your wants in a bike with the instructor, and ask if he/she can go with you to the dealer. The instructor has no commercial interest in what you buy, only that you get something that is appropriate for what you plan on. I agree with the others that a Venture is probably too big until there are quite a few miles under the seat of the pants and one is used to a mid-size bike before making the move to the bigger machine. No matter what you do, the MSF course is critical and THEN get the bike that feels good to you. Lotsa luck and pleasant, safe riding!! Retired MSF instructor POLEDAR:sun:
  14. I think he is contemplating all the acid rain he will get from those nickel mines up there in Sudbury...or the nuclear stuff from the reactor on Manitoulin!!!!
  15. I attended the first 12 of those, some when it was unintentionally named something that made the Honda people happier than us Venturers! Sure wish I could get there again, but guess I will have to make it a vicarious attendance via those who go. Have a great time and send some details when you get home. Poledar
  16. The rear gear oil is checked behind the left saddlebag. There was originally a plastic measuring stick. If you don't have one of those, drain the oil and replace it with the specified amount of 80/90 gear oil. POLEDAR
  17. It's costing me dearly keeping this darn beer cold.... Hope all is well.. look forward to meeting up again. If you think keeping it cold is expensive, wait to see how much it costs to keep it in stock once the Muffinman comes home!!!!!
  18. As I remember it, 88 sounds even better if you say "87 and a wakeup"!! Looking forward to seeing you again, Jeff. Take care, and come home safely. Best all around, POLEDAR Bill...
  19. Stan, I haven't looked but was told that the entire service manual is posted here at the site. Also, it is a 50/50 mix on the antifreeze. Look for an aluminum compatible antifreeze. Most are today, but be certain on that point! Poledar:farmer:
  20. Find a body shop who uses a computerized estimate program. That will include every little piece of hardware, so that there is nothing that you won't be reimbursed for. A friend who owned a body shop installed that software and said his business went up 20% in volume with the same number of customers--the main difference being he was getting paid for everything he would have to use. Best of luck! Keep that Saab running. They are a great car! Poledar:mo money:
  21. I heard yesterday on the radio that many of these dealers are gouging our troops by charging 20-25-30% interest on their loans. I think we should take all of them trolling for alligators...and they can be the bait!!!
  22. We have a member named Sky Doc who has a fuse box upgrade and right now he is laid up, but he might have one ready to go. Simple install and major improvement on the el cheapo that Yamaha originally supplied. POLEDAR:detective:
  23. Hey, Saltcreep! Welcome to the friendliest club ever...no meetings to attend, just nice people to meet and eat with...oh, yes, we ride now and then too! Glad to have you aboard! POLEDAR:fatsmiley:
  24. And they say New Yorkers aren't friendly!!! (At least, down here in South Carolina, they say that!! I never found it so when I lived there.
  25. I would go retro and find myself a Yamaha GTS-1000!!! That is the only sport bike I have ever been somewhat comfortable riding!!!
