  1. Anytime you go under the knife is iffy, but the back is one scary area. Prayers, best wishes, and do what your therapist tells ya, Vic!!! Ride in the su:bagpipes-emoticon:n/rain/snow, but ride safe!!!
  2. Put me in for two, Don. Thanks for the idea!!!
  3. Bob, By now, you are probably home with an ache in your.....well, you know where...anyway, it won't last too long and hopefully all will "come out" better than before! Ride safe, ride often, and ride well! Bill:scorched:
  4. I live here and agree that the mayor of MB is nuts. The mayor of N Myrtle Beach however welcomes all riders without the restrictions MB has placed. She says they have always enforced their rules and have no problems. The MB mayor is losing his mind...probably his job and his low tax status too. Serves him right! POLEDAR....
  5. All of these need to be forwarded to the American Motorcyclist Association. They are actively working to get fines/penalties to be commensurate with the accident. Their success is based on information and the more we can send them the better! POLEDAR...
  6. I went through that with my 1st Gen Mk II and was bailed out (with sheep faced look on my face!) by the amazing Muffinman. My choke cable had become disconnected somehow. It turned well, but would not catch. After the cable was reconnected, she fired right up and has ever since. Hope your problem is as simple! POLEDAR...
  7. Hi, Sound great to me. I have a 1st Gen Mk II 1986 and would love to know the details. I have the factory bumper (cracked) but with the regular bulbs and have them on an accessory fuse and switch to reduce load on the battery. If you get a chance, let me know what and where you got the bulbs, etc, and the steps in the rewire. Thanks. POLEDAR...
  8. Just in case, I have an '87 frame for sale. Asking price is $150 and you make the arrangements for and pay for the shipping. If interested, contact me at: GMTA@sccoast.net or 843-222-5137. Bill Darling POLEDAR:bagpipes-emoticon:
  9. HI Becky, I'm glad you got your ...(OOOPS!) your bike's rear end aligned and repaired! That along with the Progressive springs will help. Also, one thing I did was put on a SuperBrace for the forks. It made them more rigid when turning...turns are more positive and stable. Good luck...keep the shiny side up and ride safe! 10. Sherry, Another wish for peace for you and your family. While I did not have the pleasure of knowing Tom, I sympathize with you and your family over your loss. If there is to be a memorial fund, let me know and I will gladly participate. Bill Darling POLEDAR:bighug:
  11. Don, Please send a bell to Muffinman and let me pay for it on Paypal. He lost his and has had crappy luck ever since...flat new tire, etc. Let me know how we can handle this and I will make the Paypal payment STAT! Thanks. Bill Darling POLEDAR:bighug:
  12. There seems to be a double standard for dealing with them. We had a situation here in Myrtle Beach where 2 illegals were drag racing on a public highway. One lost control and killed a pedestrian. Two years later he is walking the streets, :255:supposedly pending being booted out of the US. Perhaps it is time for some more soul searching in dealing with those who are not here legitimately in a more equitable method. What we are seeing now is not getting it done very well at all.
  13. Find someone who knows the officer and ask what football game he wants to watch! That used to work for me!
  14. Becky, I have one out of a 1987 ( or will as soon as I can get the mufflers off!), with 101,000 miles. Asking $100. Bill... POLEDAR:thumbsup:
  15. Anywhere that the beaches are topless and the women prefer "mature" men!
  16. Welcome to the friendlieset motorcycle group you will ever belong to. They are really NOT motorcyclists, but an eating group...with a riding disorder! Enjoy all we have to offer!

  17. I have one from a 1988 that you can have for $20 + shipping charges. Poledar Bill...
  18. Dave, I'm glad you weren't more personally and physically involved in this accident. I am parting out an '88 VR in gold. I have the saddlebags and left side crash guards, and will contribute them to the cause if you can tell me just what parts you need. Poledar Bill Darling
  19. The specs on the original 1st gen, 1977, was a 1000 cc. engine and it was clocked at 154 on the autobahn. Of course, here the EPA and IIHS and NHTSA stuck their collective noses into the hopper (too bad it wasn't their entire heads!), and put a limit on performance. However, Kenny Roberts was clocked at 144 passing Reg Pridmore w/a passenger. If anyone is interested, I have slides of the "original" Venture as it was tested in Germany. Bill... POLEDAR
  20. Eck, I am sure you believe what you say, but the fact is a Gen Two will only out run a Gen one IF the Gen one doesn't go above 3rd gear!!!
  21. Jeremy,

I must be having brain farts. I noticed at FEDEX a small piece broken off the lower left corner of the outer panel, so it comes free. The deep receiver box is $15. Also, I sent those in a separate box from the headlight (actually, I forgot the headlight, but it packs better in a separate box anyway! Mea culpa!) I will get the headlight out tomorrow and then send you an accounting. The plastic panels should be there 4 working days from today, and were sent "no signature required" so they will be delivered even if no one is home.

    Thank you.

  22. I did a few St. Patrick's Day parades with the old Venture Touring Society in Syracuse years ago. Even in March in upstate New York, a slow parade (what other kind is there?) is hard on the driver and the bike. I think if I ever get involved with one again, it will be with a semi hauling a flatbed with bikes on the back. Then we can toss candy or whatever, but no more riding in those torture sessions for me!!!
  23. Barry,

I shipped your backrest this AM via USPS. I had it packed at FEDEX, but their shipping would have been $123., so I went the other way. Packing materials cost $10.69, shipping was $41.30 (still outrageous in my mind), so the total is $101.99 at your door. Wait until it gets there and be sure you are satisfied, then send me a remittance of whatever way is easiest for you.

    Thank you.

  24. You need to either: 1) become proficient at shooting at running targets (aka boyfriends) or 2) get her trained in karate for self defense! She is a very lovely young lady, and you have every right to be proud. You did say she was adopted, right??? POLEDAR:bobby:
  25. Steve,

It worked just fine. Sorry you couldn't make it today, but it rained pretty well anyway, so maybe it was for the best. Hope we can get together another time.
