Glad you didn't share the seat with the deer when it jumped you. I have had two "get togethers" with deer, one on a Venture and the other in a pick up truck. The bike was the better survivor and cost less to get back on the road. Just ask me what I think of how Yamaha made the 1st Gen Mk II's!!! Keep truckin', and better hunting next time out! If you find yourself with too much venison, let me know and I will ride down and help ya eat it!! POLEDAR:stirthepot:

Said "Goodbye" to 86'VR and 86'V65 MAGNA Today!
Poledar replied to skydoc_17's topic in Watering Hole
Earl, I'm sorry to hear you came to that, but while it may seem hard to see right now, life usually brings us to these points for a reason. Often it makes things better than before once we can see past the alligator biting our butts, and remember that we were originally supposed to drain the swamp. If I can think of anything I can use, I will get in touch with you again on that. BTW, can you machine small parts? I need the retaining nut for a Ventureline backrest. It is hex-headed, and....ah, heck. I can send you a pic if you think you might be able. You can charge me whatever you need to as I am in dire need. In fact, if you can do it, I will take 3 of them so as to cover my own backside (and my klutziness!). Please send me your regular email address, as I haven't figured out how to attach stuff here as yet. Best wishes for better days in the near future, POLEDAR:fingers-crossed-emo aka Bill Darling -
Margaret, If you have a chance, please drop me Jeff's new address in wherever the heck it is!! I would like to drop him a line and see if there is anything he needs that I can help with from here. Thanks. Poledar

Anybody Need A... Part 4
Poledar replied to bongobobny's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Bob, By any chance---looking for hardware to hold a Ventureline backrest on. The hex bodied nuts especially. Best wishes from an expatriate New Yorker!! Poledar:fingers-crossed-emo -
I read a message today with a weird suggestion, but worth a try!! Cut open a large onion, leave it on a dish in each room of the house. Seems there is an affinity for flu viruses and onions draw them. Even if it DOESN'T work, it only costs you a few onions, and you can always brown them for burgers!!! Good luck, and hope you feel better soon!

Is the left fairing panel behind the stereo and housing the speaker solid? Mine cracked a piece off on the corner. Thanks POLEDAR:missingtooth:

Contact AtlantaDragonSlayer. He has one or both available on a bike he has parted down. Good luck! -
You make me almost homesick for New York, but not quite when I look at my property taxes here in SC. I remember some wonderful rides with the old VTS where we did WNY, the Cancer Runs, the winery tours, and just some wonderful roads. I will envy you guys all of that UNTIL November through March when I am still riding here (getting so old I cannot afford a winter off....I have to retrain how to ride in the Spring!!!). Glad y'all had a good time and hope there are a few more before winter sets in!! POLEDAR

Couple questions.
Poledar replied to Ivan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
BikeBandit.com has panels and they had better be NEW at their pricing, but they match what Yamaha's prices are on most OEM stuff. Good huniting!! POLEDAR -
All the best wishes and hopes that your surgeons are the best available AND on their game!! Do the rehab just like they tell you, + 10% and you will never regret it. I did both hips in 2007 and have never regretted it for a second. It got me back on a bike...nothing more needs be said. POLEDAR:dancefool:

Fuse Box Upgrade!
Poledar replied to skydoc_17's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I tried to go to the website, but it was "marked" not available. Can you give me details on the FBO---price, work involved, etc? Thanks. POLEDAR -
Contact AtlantaDragonSlayer. He has side panels in black, but you sound like a doityourselfer and that shouldn't pose a problem.

Looking for a right side panel and the chrome exhaust pipe covers for along the sides of the bike by foot pegs. Dare I hope? -
Dan, I have been a member for 27 years, and they are one of the really effective organizations in intervening in local law issues, as well as overseeing what is being proposed on a national level. They have a lot of activities as well. Well worth the small investment to have them represent and support you. Poledar

Mini, Add me to the list of those who will contribute anything we can to help out with what Jeff needs. Hopefully, they will not screw with his plans to get his year done and come home with a better future in sight. With this idiot in the White House, we never know when he just might decide to admit defeat where we are winning, in order to further the Democrat agenda. Keep the faith, and be well. Poledar

Don, All the best wishes and most sincere prayers for the eye either to recover or not get much worse...right after hoping that the cancer is history. Keep the faith, my friend, and let God do his thing. He won't bring you to it, if you can't get through it!!! Poledar

Margaret....there is one important question that you wanna ask the doc....was it a FEMALE bug, and what are the chances she laid eggs? It is when those eggs hatch and start to search for food that you get the real PAIN IN THE EAR!!! (Another bad joke taken from an old Alfred Hitchcock movie!!!) Seriously, flushing with sweet oil (olive oil) might float the rest of the corpse, and at least it won't irritate your ear any more! POLEDAR:grandma:

Temperature Gauge
Poledar replied to Poledar's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the suggestion. I am a little red-faced here, as I found the sensor was disconnected, but once it was reconnected, it is fine. Poledar -
I am in dire need of a screw to hold the Venture Royale Logo on the front of my 1986. If anyone has one or more they would part with, please let me know. Also, I am looking for the hex nuts for holding a backrest on the swivel point on the frame.

Gen 1 vs Gen 2 ???
Poledar replied to Patrick46's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have had 4 1st Gens and don't foresee going to a 2nd Gen just because of the performance and also I don't care for the Harley look alike. I have been told that the 1st Gen handles wind better, which we all know we find on long trips, and I have always felt it handled better because of the aerodynamics of the fairing. I guess I am a little bit prejudiced because I own the 1st Gen and it's PAID FOR, and cannot afford a newer model. If any mods are made to my stable, it will be a trike conversion when I get old enough for a wheelchair and can't keep it up at stoplights!!! Until then, I have a bullet proof engine and tranny, adequate space, good sound and communications and plan to enjoy it right into the sunset. Good luck on your choice. If you find a good late 80s or early 90s, go for it. You won't be sorry! POLEDAR:680: -
The gauge on my 1986 VR is not working, but there is plenty of heat pouring off the manifold. I flushed and replaced the anti-freeze, but would like to know what the temperature is that is being sensed by the command center. Can someone tell me how to correct this problem? Thanks. Poledar

Margaret, I'm glad he got there ok, and that the clock is ticking already. Can he receive email there or is that a no-no? If he can, what address should we use....VR.org, or another? Give him my best and tell him that we are all waiting to hear that his weapons are doing their thing supporting our troops! Poledar:Venture:
