Jean, Tell him to watch his six on those wet slippery surfaces! From what he tells me, you are as good or better a wrench than he is anyway! He promised me that you could do my clutch job with one hand tied behind your back, and he can't/couldn't top that himself!!! Since he walked me through (spell that held my hand!!!) the job, you don't have to live up to his bragging, though! Tell him that Poledar (Bill Darling) has prayers coming his way, and that he gets a free massage from my wife when he gets back on the stick and makes it down to South Carolina. God bless him, and may he NOT need surgery to get his back back off his back!!!! Are there any acupuncture docs in the area? We have one here who can work miracles, maybe one there can get him out of his pain with fewer drugs!?!?!?!? Best regards to a great couple, Bill...

I have a set of driver boards, not in pristine condition, non-Venture line, but they are yours for the packing and shipping charges.

Annie, I use Limewire with great success. Some have criticized it, but I have had no problems with it. Poledar:dancefool:

Jason, Thanks for your note. I "redid" the clutch and this time invested in a torque wrench that measured inch pounds (as opposed to my 1/2" drive one that only measured in tonnage!!!), and this time it took The clutch springs had shifted on one another, but no more. Once again this nearly 100K Venture rocks like a Venture should! Poledar:Venture:

I just finished installing a new spring in my 1986 VR, using the kit from Sky Doc. First off, let me tell you that Sky Doc backs his stuff up with patience and understanding at a very high level. He put up with my nonsense (a result of not knowing what the H**L I was doing!) and more or less held my hand until the fog cleared and I saw what I was supposed to do! Now my VR hooks up like a VENTURE...a new one, that is! I was having slipping problems in higher gears and then after the first installation, I managed to have it in EVERY gear (Does that tell you how little I know about motorcycle mechanics?) But after Sky Doc and I talked quite a few times, he finally got through to my thick head and now the bike runs like it should. Other problems still exist, but it is nice to know when someone really follows through with his products like Sky Doc!!!!

Best wishes and strongest prayers are sent from here!!!

Ben, A big THUMBS UP on your perspective on all to do with the accident and the situation with your Dad. I lost my Dad 8+ years ago, closely followed by my Mom and I understand totally your concerns about leaving him behind. Just make the very best of every moment and be sure to tell him you love him...a:bighug: few words that go across eons of time and space!!! Best of everything in your rehabilitation as the new Bionic Man! POLEDAR

Congrats, Bob, on the conversion. Question I have is do they do 1st Gens also, and who are "they"? I had not read of anyone doing them on Ventures, but as the old body is aging, it may become necessary to look into that. Thanks. Poledar:97:

I have one from a 1987, but do not know if it will work on a 2nd gen. If you can determine that it will, I will send it along for packing and shipping charges.

Ben, No matter what we come up against, I believe that God won't challenge us with anything we cannot survive or that He cannot help us endure. Best, strongest prayers for your Dad and you as well. Keep riding, it's safer than walking on the sidewalk! POLEDAR

Add one more endorsement to that! A big AYE!!!

Rock on, Muffinman! Turn that country into the Asian chapter of Ventureriders!!! Enjoy the new toy!! Poledar...

I used that for years, and it seemed to smooth out the shifting in all my Ventures. Blended synthetic/petroleum is not cheap but neither is a rebuild! Poledar:thumbsup:

Todd, Sorry to tell you but I have an agreement on that bike and am picking it up on Friday. The photo shown was a "borrowed" one, not actual color. I NEED the faring and a few other parts, but will be parting out the remainder when I get it here to Myrtle Beach. Take care, ride safe! Poledar

They are a great bike. The only shortcoming I have found is that the stock seat tends to push the passenger forward a bit, but some sculpting can solve that. Same mod on driver's seat makes for seriously comfortable seating. Otherwise, just keep the shiny side up and smile a whole lot!! Poledar:big-grin-emoticon:

I think we have it nailed down here in Myrtle Beach. It snows overnight and is gone by 2 PM at the latest. In the last 14 years, I have seen less snow here than I used to see in New York overnight...and it was there for 6 months at a time. All of you who are getting some, quityerbellyachin' and move on. Be thankful you are not in Afghanistan or Iraq or Alaska or places that get real extremes of weather. Life will go on and those of you who got some snow this year for the first time in ages will BRAG about it next summer!!!!

Just in case you might be interested, I have a Slipstreamer replacement windshield in good condition, for packing and shipping costs.

For those who like exceptional riding experiences, look into this one!! http://www.edelweissbike.com/newsletter/2009_14/information_1%20ENGL%20USD.pdf 248 days, 40,000 miles, 5 continents and a steal at $101,200 + "incidentals". (I wish I knew people who could afford a trip like this one!!!)

Don, Congratulations, and if I may offer a suggestion? Don't EAT ANYTHING for the first few days after your trip!!! Take her out to eat every night to get her off the rat poison idea!!! Many more like the first 15 to you both!!! POLEDAR:banana:

I have had more than I care to admit, but fortunately, no injuries to my person, just my rides. Number one was a guy on a GW doing a 180 turn and swinging in front of me with no room to avoid him. The BMW I rode took about $1,000 of body damage. Number two was this crazy deer determined to commit suicide. I was an MSF instructor at the time, and we had always told our students that if you HAVE to hit something, do it as straight on as possible, which I did, and went through the deer like a hot knife through butter, with onlly $200 in cosmetic damage. (My passenger, a 16 y.o. newbie, did have to discard his skivvies that night when we got to the motel, and I suspect his ego was hurt more than my bike!!! VEG!!!) Three was hitting a splash of anti-freeze on a rainy road, and the front end just went squirrelly, and I was unable to pull it out before a ditch, so I laid it down and trashed the fairing and lower radiator hose. Having been there as many times as I have, I don't think God is through with me yet, as He seems to keep me coming back from the brink of disaster with little damage to the body. I have driven 200,000 miles on a bike, and 2,500,000 on a car over the years of a sales career, and never more than a scratch in all that time, so I guess my luck has held for a long time, and I hope it continues. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Poledar:farmer:

Ron, You are a hero to me and lots of other Americans who appreciate that your contribution keeps us all free of tyranny and able to breath easily. May your final overseas tour be uneventful and you come home safe with all that you left with. God bless you and all of our military. Poledar:337:

Some Venture Royale questions for you
Poledar replied to Beau-Kat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There was one owner from the original VTS who did a VMax drop-in into a Venture MkI, and wound up with a 10 second Venture.
