  1. BTW, how do you like my trike????///////......
  2. I still dip in and out every once in a while, but don't talk much anymore. i really miss my bike but at the time it needed to go. I told Bill the bike and the 700 ft. red gravel driveway we have now that is pretty steep wouldn't go to good with a bike. Dooder, Redneck, Eck, Squidley and Bill, it is good to see yall on here. I miss yall a lot too. I am planning on getting another bike one of these days and hope to come to another ride in. Yall all take care.
  3. Y'all are as crazy as ever!!! LOL!!! I've really enjoyed reading this thread. Don't get on as much as I used to, but it is always nice to see ol' friends and postings of the new ones as well as the ones I've met. Just one big Happy family here. I think it is great!!! All of you ride safe and I hope I can get another bike in the future and have time to ride it. Y'all be good, or at least be careful!
  4. Well folks, I'm still bikeless. Just looked at the bike and it would probably make a pretty good fixer upper, but I just don't want to go there again. Looking for something a little nicer. I should've known at the price he was asking. He had a lot of work done to the bike and been out about $2500 on it, for cleaning carbs, valve cover gaskets, and master cylinders. The bike seemed to idle good and didn't get hot, but cosmetically, it needed quite a bit of TLC and the class system wouldn't light up or work. No CB and you could tell it had been in the weather some. I guess i'm just too picky after the bike I used to have. I'm still thinking of maybe getting a cruiser instead of a tourer. I'm more into short distance than long. Working 6 days a week 10-11 hours a day don't leave much time for much of anything. I'm not complaining because I do have a job.
  5. Well, I didn't hear back from the guy, so i guess the first guy that called him got it. He said the Yamaha store had put a brand new carb on this bike. I was curious about that, since the carbs are in a 4 pack, but it doesn't look like it is going to matter. Everything happens for the best. Hey Skid, good to see ya' on here. I think about you everytime I see a state trooper here. Be safe and thanks for your service to the public.
  6. Eck, I know you're getting old, but I have pm'ed you in the last 6-8 months seeing how you are doing, ..........unless i'm getting old and it has been longer than i think LOL!! Lonna, my li'l bro hasn't got him a bike. He has took on a business adventure that is keeping him pretty busy, but that is good for him, since he likes to be his own boss (he owns the company). I have been wanting another bike, but thinking smaller than the Venture. This one happened to pop up last night and when i saw the price, it got my attention, especially since i can tear this bike apart and put it back together, if needed, with the help of the ventureriders. I am still amazed at all the help I was given on my last bike and what amazed me more was I did most of it myself, again, thanks to the ventureriders. Eck, I've been lurking in the background, just haven't been posting much. Thanks for all of the info, guys and gals. As always, it is appreciated. BTW, how hard is it to fix a busted fairing on these machines./?
  7. Just got off the phone with the guy. Found out a little more about the bike, but looks like i am going to get 2nd shot at the bike. Someone else called him first and he wants to be fair. He said the bike has been in the shop for almost a year. He has 3 other bikes so he wasn't in a hurry to get it back. They supposedly put NEW carbs on the bike at the yamaha place. He got the bike back a few weeks ago and rode it twice and the master cylinder locked up so he carried it back to the shop and just got it back. He is going to ride it to work tomorrow. He said the left side fairing was cracked, but other than that, the bike was in good shape. He wants to sell the bike for what the carb replacement and master cylinder work cost him, $1900. So it is wait and see i guess. Kind of bothers me about being in the shop almost a year, but at least he told me.
  8. Just found a 1986 Venture Royale with 34k miles on it. Y'all know i had the 87 Venture standard up til a couple of years ago. What problems do i need to look for on the 86? Anything I need to know about the 86s that are different than the 87. I know this one is a Royale, which my other bike was not. I hope the guy calls me back pretty quick. I just emailed him because i just found the bike. It is here locally so i can take a peak tomorrow, I hope. What kind of money would this bike be worth if it is in good shape with 34k miles? Thanks for your help in advance. Y'all have always gave me good info. BTW, here is a pic of the bike. I hope the pic works.:dancefool:I'm getting a little excited!!!! I hope I haven't missed it.
  9. We took one in on trade at the dealership. It has 64k miles on it. I don't know much about these bikes, but it runs good. It does need some TLC and has been in the weather some. Choke cable is broke and needs rear brake pads immediately. Don't know if anyone might be interested in it, but we'll take $2650 for it just like it sits. I did ride it in to the dealership from the customers house. If you want to see a few pics, you can go to www.huffmanmotors.com and look at inventory under kawasaki. If you have any questions about this bike, feel free to give me a call. I hope it is ok to post like this in the watering hole. If not, make it disappear. Thanks.
  10. 4 does for me here in Tn. My hunting buddy ended up with the Tn. limit on bucks (3). Sorry I don't have pics of them, but all were nice for around here. We hunt 53 acres together which runs down in Hatchie River bottom. He saw mostly bucks, but when I got a chance to go, I couldn't buy a buck. That's why they call it deer HUNTING!
  11. Tell Shane I said Congrats. That is an honor to be proud of now and always. My brother and I both made Eagle. I made it in 1977. Tell him to keep up the good work and get the palms to go with it. I ended up with 41 merit badges and all 3 palms. I'm still proud of it today. Some of the things scouts taught me still helps me today. Last week I was thinking of posting on here and see how many Eagles we had on this sight. I just never did it.
  12. I agree with you Paul. As long as the boss keeps it a car lot, we will be better off. He is thinking of downsizing from the dealership lot to a smaller lot. The dealership utility bills would be tough on the used car side. As for being on the sight, I still get on quite often. I just don't post. I read what others have posted. Good to hear from you Bill. Are you still behaving./?! I might have miswrote the post, but wanting you to know, I have NOT lost my job. I hope I am just going from new cars to used, which I have sold used cars in the past and did make more . Only time will tell. GM products have come so far in the last 10-15 years. They are great products. I have faith in the product, but don't have much faith in GM itself. I would love to come to one of the ride ins but I've been working 6 days a week, 10-11 hours a day. I am the only salesman left here at the dealership. I laugh and tell everybody that if you want a bad salesman, you're looking at him, if you want a good one, you're looking at him. So much for choice of looks LOL!!! Take care all. I'll be lurking in the background. I have been in the car business for 20 years, so it would be hard to do anything else.
  13. Well, if any of you has been paying attention to the news, internet, or other that gives bad news, you know approximately 1100 letters were sent out by GM Friday telling dealers bye bye. The dealership I work at, got one of those letters. Huffman Pontiac Buick GMC Inc. will no longer be, within a year. This place was built to GM's "specs" by my boss in 1998. Now GM can tell him they no longer need him. Welcome to the NEW WORLD. We are small dealership and there are several others in the area that got the letter also. It looks like they want the big dealerships left. Get rid of the little guy with hometown service and no pressure atmosphere. Well, I guess I'm thru venting now......for a minute or 2 anyway. It seems like the only good people left are the VentureRiders. Now for the "hopefully" good news is the boss is thinking about turning it into a used car lot, so that means I can keep my job, hopefully. If not, I think I'm going to fish for a living. I know I could lose some weight doing that, but my NEW wife is not so sure about that LOL!! I sold my house so that has taken a load off. Now we only have one house payment instead of 2. I am as happy as I have ever been with my life, so it would take quite a bit to get me down. I've always said if a man is looking for work, he can find a job. It might not be what he wants to do, but he can find a job. I've signed up for unemployment twice in my life and thank goodness I never had to draw the first check. If things go south with the car lot, I hope I can say that for the third time. Y'all have a great summer and ride safe. I'm gone fishing!! It's that time of year I sure miss my bike.
  14. Hey Jim, NO, the honeymoon ain't quite over. We have talked about it and made up our minds that the honeymoon would never be over. We, as humans, have a tendency to fall into a rut, and we have decided that we are not going to do that. Well, we'll see how long that lasts, but I am so blessed to have found someone that I love dearly, after thinking that I would never love again. God works in many ways and he has been better to me than I have to him. Great to hear from you Jim and if you ever cross the Big Muddy, give me a shout, because I would like to see you again. Take care my friend.
  15. This # is copy and pasted from ebay so it should be right 280337274006. Sorry if I copied it wrong on the first post..
