  3. Thanks for all the ideas. I found a shop in Omaha that still has the mercury ( quicksilver ) and they are shipping it to me. I don't have a problem with mercury...as long as you are careful and wear gloves and not try to swallow any of it, you should be fine. Heck, Dentists used to put in your mouth as fillings. If I remember right...maybe thats why I never passed a test in school...Could be why my moniker is what it is...I'll have to ponder that for a spell. Snaggletooth, who is from Omaha let me in on it. They only have a few bottles left for about $25 plus shipping. Cie la Vie. Thanks for everybodys help. You guys are the best Ken:cool10:
  4. Hello Gents I had an accident with my mercury filled carb sticks ( I spilled the mercury on my driveway ) My question is Does anybody know where I can find just an ounce or two of mercury...I spilled about half what was in there. Thanks for any ideas Ken
  5. Thanks Guys I'm going to try the RLU, it seems more than likely the problem. I didn't even know I had a RLU. Live and learn.
  6. Sorry guys, been extremely busy the last few days The light that blinks is the red light with the headlight icon lit. It will come on either with the high beams or low beam on. The high beam also activates the passing lights...ie I will have all three lights on when on high beam. The low beam will have just the headlight glowing. The red light and the icon will come on either low beam or high beam. I used the 4 blade relay that was mentioned. ( I can't remember the type or number ) I have been thinking that I have a weak diagnostic board but I don't know how to fix it. The blinking light is not on all the time and I can get rid of it for a short time by switching from either the high beam to low beam or vice versa. BTW, all lights work fine, it's just the icon and flashing red light. Thanks for all the help, I hope this explains it. I hope I'm not too confusing. Thanks again
  7. I have a question about a problem I'm having with my headlights Firstly, I have added a set of cheap walmart passing lights to my 89 Venture. I can be driving down the road with either my extra lights on or off and the little computer on my dash will blink on. I can turn off the passing lights and the trouble light will go off for a few minutes and then start blinking again. I installed a relay and tried to wire it the best that i can. The switch for the passing lights is the high/low switch for the dimmer switch on the left-side handlebar. BTW...my lights work fine. My question is: Has anyone else have this type of problem with this type of setup and what did you to alleviate the blinking light on the dash? It's starting to drive me nuts. Thank you gentlemen, I'd appreciate any help that you might think of. Ken
  8. I bought the adapter on E-Bay for roughly $50. I think you need to shop around a little. BTW I use Purolater filters...most bang for the buck IMHO Here's one for $55 http://www.ebay.com/itm/250988750735?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  9. I've got a 89 and I just had something similiar happen in the last few weeks. I had a leak out of one of carbs on the left side ( rear ). I tapped the carb with a plastic screwdriver and viola it has fixed it. It could be that your float valve has a little dirt in it. Seafoam and a few taps on the side of the diaphrams cover. Did it for me!! Good Luck !!
  10. 89 with 2700 miles, bought it a few months ago with 2075 miles 86 with 36,000 miles bought it in 08
  11. An elderly man is stopped by the police around 1 a. m. and is asked where he is going at this time of night. The man replies, "I am going to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on the human body." The officer then asks, "Really? Who is giving that lecture at this time of night?" The man replies, "That would be my wife."
  12. :lightbulb:Hey Guys Just a note to let you guys know about a better and cheaper way to do the fork seals: A genius named Frank Cuthbert has made the suggestion to replace the seals with generic seals from the Auto Parts store. They last longer, they're cheaper and you can pick them up almost anywhere. Federal Mogul 40x52x7
