I would think you'de two wires going to it. TCI output and a ground. ???
-
If you can figure out the resistance of orginal coils and the COPs, then the added resistor would be the difference between the two..

packing steering head bearings
Ozlander replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The zerk lets you fill the steering neck which keeps the rain out and thus eliminates having to check the bearing again. It will grease the upper bearing. Also, all you have to do the check the bearings is turn the handlebars while on the center stand and check for notcheyness. -
Life span of a spark plug?
Ozlander replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I agree. Last time I remember changing plugs was in 2001 before going to Alaska. (However, replacing known good plugs with unknown new plugs might not be a good idea) I replaced them this year when I adjusted the valves as I had them out anyway. -
That's good info to have. The only time my kill switch gets exercised is when I accidentally hit it.

I-80 goes thru Neb. and the cops always have at least two cars stopped every time I go thru there.

how many miles with no valve adjustment??
Ozlander replied to kyle's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I adjusted my valves this summer at 80,000 miles. Had three that were a hair tight and a couple that was a hair loose. Been checking them about every 16,000 miles. Finally got to the point that I had to bite the bullet. Bought the gaskets from Skydoc and borrowed his shim kit. Thanks again. -
I've been changing my own tires for the past 30 years. I think the weights on the rims are to balance the rim. I run Michelin's and Metzler's and have never balanced a tire. Never have had a vibration or have a tire show an out of balance indication. On the highway, I run 65 to 75 most of the time, up to 125 if needed.

Yep. I did that. Once.

So what do you think, did I get my money's worth out of these pads?
Ozlander replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
I normally swap the pads from inside to outside and visa versa to even out the wear. Get a few more miles that way and wear them both out. -
1st gen COP's coil install/help
Ozlander replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The go fast boys are more concerned about the direction of the electrons thru the plug. The center electrode being hotter emits electrons easier, so they want it to be negative in respect to the side electrode. And that depends on how the coil is wired inside. They test it and wire it to make that happen. In the real world, it doesn't make a tinkers dam which way you wire it. That being said, choice A is how an ignition coil is normally drawn in a ignition circuit. That and a buck might get you a cup of coffee. -
Friend of mine has a 1000cc Kaw-wa-ski police special and would like to put a dual seat on it. Does anybody know of a dual seat that will fit it?

Well on our way to global cooling.

I've had one of those for more than 20 years except mine is a 1/2" model, which has a higher torque rating for use when rebuilding an engine and torquing lug nuts. Works good, lasts long time. Remember to return it to zero when you're done.

The dip stick measures 1 inch to the full line.

You may be an old yamaha mechanic, BUT were you a good yamaha mechanic? Did you ever read a manual? Page 2-15 shows using the dip stick to check final drive oil level. My dip stick measures 1 inch to the middle of the two lines. -

Ozlander replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Now that is a crock of bull. My XS850, 83 Royale, 84 Royale and 89 Royale all came that the dip stick in the tool kit. It is used for checking the final drive. Of course you can fill the final drive to the top if you want, but then you can do the engine that way too, if you choose. It's your bike. -
Put me on the list somewhere. I have 76,000 miles on mine and I really need to change a couple of shims. Merlyn

You're going to have to find another excuse not to ride when it'd cold.
