  1. "Could there be a separate forum for GB's" Now there's a great idea! These posts go to the back pretty fast on a busy day.
  2. I've been putting four quarts in my VR's at oil change since '83 and have never had an engine problem of any kind.
  3. The lower engine cases are not water-cooled. They will always be colder when 30* air is blowing on them than they will be when 100* air is blowing on them. Also, then fins don't know they are just for looks. Anytime you have more surface area, you will have more heat transfer. The aluminum cases expand more than the steel gears do. Therefore there will be more gear clearance on a hot day than on a cold day.
  4. H4 is not a motorcycle bulb. They used them in cars before the Japs started using them. Try this instead. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/image_24714_100.jpg PIAA Powersports H4 Xtreme White Plus Anti-Vibration Bulb (Single) Our most popular headlight bulb by far. The Xtreme White is the favorite combination of color and performance. The addition of t ... Part Number: PIAA-70456
  5. For sites that don't have any financial info like this site and all of the other forums and places like that that I visit, I use the same user name and a simple password. For sites that need more security, but not the max, I have another user name and a couple of more complex passwords. For the sites that need the Max security, I have a complex username and a complex password or three. I know every site is supposed to be different, but there's a limit to what I can remember and then there's always some site that whats me to change every year or two. Makes it hard for an old fart. When I was working, we had to change every month. I used 'lastnameyear month' "somebody9908". Good as any.
  6. I put in 4 quarts and a filter and forget about it until the next change at 5,000 miles.
  7. How fast you pull your trailer is determined by how fast you want to run out of gas. That's the only criteria I have....
  8. Iowawegian, We were down there 4 times, with a group of 12 to 16 bikes, back in the last century. Things were a lot calmer and cheaper then. Had a good time and the people were friendly, especially when you get away from the border. Winter time trips to a warm place.
  9. I'm glad everybody is OK, BUT the alltread of the hitch ball had come undone. allthread is not what you use to attach a hitch ball.
  10. Any place in Alaska and after that all the other places in Alaska. Then the Yukon, Jasper and the entire Canadian highway 16 to Prince Rupert, Colorado, Nova Scotia, Grand Tetons, Glacier..... To name a few.
  11. Boy, that background sure goes by fast.
  12. When I changed mine, I took it to Wally world. Found a Toyota that was exactly the same size. Ozlander
  13. If you do a group buy, I will buy one. Is there a reason why you are not using the orginal mounting location? Ozlander
  14. A little grease will help to hold them in place.
  15. Probably so, I've had the same problem since I changed seals on mine last year. I need to redo it. Some place I read that the manual shows the part downside down. Ozlander
  16. 12,000 miles is a bit to far, we did that trip in 2001, rode every paved road in Alaska, did a side trip to the Northwest Territory and did 9525 miles in 35 days. We were pulling a 750 pound trailer, camped out every night but 2. We carried a spare front and back tire, but never needed them. I know several people that have made that trip several times and never had any tire trouble. Even if you were to wear out a tire, you're probably coming back through Edmonton and Calgary. Ozlander
  17. My thoughts are that it will, but I have never tried to do it. If I needed a new one, I would buy any of the 1st Gen's. Ozlander
