  1. Which kit did they use to lower your ride?
  2. I believe J&M used to make a hand held mic for the older Goldwings. You mght check them or Sierra Electronics to see what they can find for you.
  3. My wife and I downsized from a ranch with full basement two car garage and garage dedicated just for the bikes. We ended up buying a condo, got rid of a bunch of stuiff that we haven't missed and every time I come home and seee the yard mowed I just smile. I would liek to have some extra garage space, but we do pretty good with what we've got. I don't regret downsizing at all. We do have apond across from us, though! But I don't have to ever get close enough to it to risk getting wet. LOL
  4. Ol' Crazy Gary of the Death Cats MC. Hey, don't mess with me man! LOL
  5. Thanks for sharing that.
  6. I use hockey pucks too. Cut a notch in the one and the rest you use as is. For what it's worth, I got some used hockey pucks at a Play It Again used sporting goods store for real cheap/ One day I'll buy an adapter, but for now the pucks work for me. I have actually lifted my bike up as high as the jack will go with the pucks supporting it. I always use tie downs after getting it where I want it just for safety's sake to
  7. I know that some of the Goldwingers used to mount airhorns up under their saddlebags.
  8. I have never had problems with the Harley sponsored events here in central Ohio. A.D. Farrow Harley Davidson in Columbus does a lot of charity rides and always welcomes every make and every rider that wants to make a difference. I have found that most of the riders that do these rides know what the purpose of the ride really is about. And it's not about what bike you ride.
  9. Gary N has a Utopia in our classified section for 150.00. That's what I have on my bike and have had one on a Goldwing also. It's a nice piece of equipment. And NO, I am not getting a commision for mentioning Gary's ad. LOL
  10. That's great to hear. We get kind of sceptiacl at times, so it's nice to know that there are some products that can deliver. I''m also glad you saved yourself a ton of money not having to buy a replacement shield right away. You'd spend that much time cleaning on the bike eventually anyway. so all in all....you WON! Ride safe.
  11. Read the rules of the board. It doesn't matter what you ride. You're still more than welcome to hang out with the rest of us. I hope you drop by and say hi once in awhile. And I hope you enjoy yout new ride. Ride safe
  12. Have you ever stood back and looked at what is happening? Harley Davidson has done one thing totally right. They took a company that, within my lifetime, was on the verge of failing miserably. They have since turned that company around and are very successful. One of the strategies that they used was to create a family within the H-D owners. They have done this and people have many times bought the machines, not so much because they are the best bike on the road, but because of the comraderie that comes along with it. All the other manufacturers could learn a lesson from H-D. If they could create such a loyal following then your comment would be a mute point. I guess my point is that it's not H-D's fault or the fault of the H-D owners as much as it's a fault of Honda, Yamaha, whoever to give the buyers the same kind of family feeling that Harley has their customers. This past weekend I stopped at AD Farrow HD in Columbus just to look around. Many of my closest riding buddies (the majority) ride Harleys. Most of them have bought new Ultras this year. I got to tell you, I actually like the style of my Yamaha better than the Ultras. Yes, there are certain things I like better about each one. But all in all, I'd take my Venture over a Harley. I figured a long time ago I don't have time to get caught up in all the us vs. them stuff. I ride what I ride and respect their freedom to do the same. I don't have to please anyone other than myself with my ride choice. Be careful and ride safe.
  13. Let me know what you think of these headsets. I have considered getting some myself. I'd like to know how they sound, and if you can hear ok while running at highway speeds. I appreciate your input. Ride safe.
  14. I'd have to go look ay mine since I haven't touched the brakes yet on it, but there is usually some adjustment on the foot brake switch. On my Valkyrie I had to adjust the switch once due to the same problem. Get down there and take a look at it to seeof there's some adjustment screw that you can move. Sounds like the switch is constantly being tripped. You can always unplug the front brake swith at the housing and check it to eliminate that spot too I think.
  15. Happened to me too
  16. That does look like a huge trailer. Good thing he got the right bike to pull it with.
  17. Might look at a large U-Haul dealer if there's one near you. If they install hitches they usually have a large display of different types of plugs and towing accessories. it's worth a shot anyhow. Good luck
  18. I have seen a way to make a replacement button out of a screw and the plastic screw covers you can buy. I can't find the article right now, but someone will be along I am sure. They say it's an easy fix. I have seen the plastic screw covers in black and chrome, so you'd have a choice. You can find the screw covers a lot of places and figuring out what size screw you need should be pretty straight forward. http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/rodi_2006_302965981
  19. How about the Goldwing Road Riders at www.gwrra.org. They have a lot of good info on their site.
  20. I used to ride with a Goldwing group out of Zanesville, OH. Evry year we had a bike show to raise money for Christmas for some kids. There was one guy that had so many light s on his bike it was funny. I asked him what kind of alternator his Goldwing had on it and he said the original one. I never got him to fess up, but I believe he had extra batteries in his saddlebags to help power the lighting when he did night parades, etc. The rear end of his bike was almost scraping the ground from so much weight. People loved to see that thing ll lit up. And this was before LED's became so popular.
  21. I traded my 2005 Nomad in on my Venture. I loved the Nomad, but it just wasn't a good bike if my wife rode with me and we pulled the trailer. I would love to have a Nad again someday, but also love my Venture. (WHINE AND ALL). The only change I would like to do on the Venture is add an amp to the sound systm. Other than that, after having a whole lot of other bikes from Harley's to Goldwings, the Venture suits me just fine. Bopttom line is you should ride what you like, and forget about what everybody else thinks, says, or does. Enjoy the new machine. Also check out the Vu;can site for some great info. www.vroc.org. And there's a guy named Gadget that has a super site for mods, upgrades and such. http://www.gadgetjq.com/gadgetsfixitpage.htm He has more info on his site than you'll ever want to know about your new ride. For the rest of you Venture riders, Gadget also has some things on his site that apply to any bike. How to's etc. for lots of things. Guys, have a great day and ride safe.
  22. Guys, I have been following all this info. I am checking with my buddy today to see if he got his clutch working. If not, I'll stop by and see what I can do to help him. There's a ton of info here that may be of use to him if a simple bleeding of the system doesn't help. This is why the board is so great. People willing to share the knowlege they have to help others. Thanks so much.
  23. Thanks a bunch.
  24. Can anyone tell me where the clutch bleeder screw is on a first generation? My friend has one that needs worked on. Thanks a bunch
  25. I read somewhere awhile back about shortening the antennas on the Venture. The only thing I remember was that you had to cut them at even lengths. Does anyone know anything about doing this? What would you use to cut them with? What would you use to put on the top to finish it off? Is it really ok to do this? I'm just looking at the possibilities right now and wanted some input. Thanks a bunch and ride safe.
