Never thought about the levers doing it. But you're right they could veruy well be the culprit. I know iot's not dye from my gloves because the palms of my hands never turn black, only my exposed fingers. That's why the levers make sense to me. There's another project to undertake one rainy day. Cleaning the levers and then applying some clear coat. Thanks for the input.

When it's hot out I ride with fingerless gloves. After a day of riding my fingers have been stained black from the handgrips. What's the solution to this? Is there something I can use to clean the grips to help prevent this from happening? I figured you guys would know something about problem and have some good advice for me. Changing grips is not a solution. I had the Kuryakyn grips on my Valkyrie and got tired of them. Thanks

The people at Utopia are greta people to work with too. I love my backrest. Once in awhile I think about running without it, thenI come to my senses. LOL

Those are what I bought with the padding. They also fit tight so there is no bunching up anywhere after a few long hours in the saddle.

I actually bought a couple pair of sports type underwear. They have padding in them in the crucual areas and make a huge difference for me.

Your bike is looking great. The boards turned out really nice. I'm not familiar with the First Gens, but could you maybe use a nylon washer as a spacer when you put the floorbaords on? That way you could tighten them up and the nylon would give enough resistance and still allow you to raise and lower the board. Just a thought, and I'll shut up now. -
Hi all, I just posted my wife's Kawaski Vulcan Classic in the classifieds if anyones looking for a nice bike. She's always been up and down about riding and she need ssome work done on her teeth so she figured she'd rather have a purty smile than the bike at this point. Besides, I always have a place for her on the back of the Venture!

I am on the list to have my seat re-worked while I'm there, but would also appreciate someone doing a carb synch for me, or at least getting mine checked. I am also willing to help wherever I can. Thanks.

Just a heads up for anyone riding around Columbus, Ohio at anytime. Yamaha of Columbus is now located in the same building as Iron Pony Motorsports in the north end of town. They are just north of 161 on Westerville Road just about 15 or 20 minutes from where I live. I stopped by Sunday while I was out riding and Iron Pony is adding new stuff all the time and the East end of the building is now the Yamaha dealer and their shop. Yamaha of Columbus has had several locations in the past few years. My hope is that under new ownership, they will stay put for awhile. As usual I have no connections whatsoever with either of these places. I just like to pass on info when i think my Venturerider family would like it. www.ironpony.com www.yamahaofcolumbus.com

There are a couple of those electronic signs on I-70 in Columbus, Ohio that they post accident warnings and such on. Driving into Columbus to work each morning they often tell you how long before you get to the next exit to give you an idea how fast (or slow) the traffic is going. Last year they were posting a Biker Awareness slogan on them off and on throughout the month. It was a great idea and I am hoping they do the same this year.

It's all a matter of what you want touse the bike for. I traded an 05 Nomad in on my 06 Venture. Why? Because when I had my Nomad my wife was riding her VTX all the time. We did have a trailer hitch on the Nomad and took one trip 2 up pulling the trailer. I have to say, the Nomad struggled with that much of a load. Then my wife said she would rather ride with me if we traveled together longer distances. So the Nomad went by the wayside and I bought the Venture simply because it's a much better choice to pull a trailer and for two up riding. I personally loved the Nomad and will more than likely buy one again someday. But for now I am loving the Vennture and my wife now has a KAwasaki 1500 Classic she rides when we do short jaunts. Bottom line, if you're looking into doing any kind of real distance riding, go with the Venture.

I just got this from our church office staff. I either drive or ride this road daily. It's a really straight stretch of highway with a 50 mph limit. It's a shame to hear about these things, but when we do it should always remind us of how fleeting life can be. Not just a reminder for when we are on our bikes, but every moment should count. May God bless you and keep you safe. The doctor's office where this occured is right at the entrance to our church. Everyone: I just wanted to let you know that the church office will be closed this morning. At about 7 this morning there was a fatal motorcycle accident in front of the doctors office. The road is currently closed and we do not know how long it will take to open it back up. Please pray for the family of the person killed. As soon as we are able to get in to the church, we will let you know. If you need to get a hold of me in an emergency, you can still e-mail me at the church’s email address or this one or you can call my cell phone at Thanks, Kris

As for the dealer that seems to have done you wrong, have you considered a letter to your states Attorney General? They can sometimes expedite things for you.- 10 replies

I had the same problem. My trailer had regular lights on it. I switched the rear lighting to LED and the flashers worked just fines after that.

Just go to the bottom of this page to check out Rick's post list. He explains the process in the "Carbon Fiber It" post. Greta looking airboxes, Rick. I may have to try that myself.

They did a spot on tv last weekend on one of the hot rod truck shows about the companya that manufacturers air horns for trains. They have 1 bell up to 5 bell horns I think they said. Also very low air pressure needed to operate them. Wish I had wrote down the name for the place. Could you imagine one of those big honkers on your bike? Geez, that would get some attention, and maybe shake the dust off your bike too. LOL

I am so thankful to have such a caring family here at venturerider.org. God bless each of you.

If I have it straight, Don goes in for his first surgery tomorrow morning at 11:30am Eastern time. This is just the first step in what could be a long journey for a man that has done so much for all of us. I know that many of you are already praying for Don and his family. But my heart tells me that we can never offer up enough intercessory prayer. Jesus said; And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13 So my proposal is simple. Any of you that feel led to do so, please join me in prayer for Don and Eileen tomorow (Tuesday) at 11:30am Eastern. Let's all just take a few minutes out of our day to send up requests to Heaven on behalf of this family. God does hear our prayers and knows our hearts. Thanks so much and God bless you all.

Here's my opinion for what it's worth. I have seen such drastic differences in chap sizes that I would never buy them on line. You can find chaps cheap enough in many places that it is better to find a place where you can try them on. If there a moto rally cloase enough for you to attend there are usually several vendors that you can visit.

Where's he say it has a 6 speed? Did I miss that part? In the text he says it shifts up through all 5 gears. Maybe the guy just made a typo. I do agree he's pulling someone's leg a little, though. It also comes with a radar detector mounted above the dash. Tires are both fine and the (Shaft driven) motor is very strong as the bike has ONLY 48k original miles. The transmission shifts smoothly through all 5 gears. Both my father and myself were driving this bike weekly with NO problems

I would love to have the mod done on Staurday if that were possible. I'm riding up to Don's early Saturday morning from the Columbus, OH area.
