  1. Y'all need to shut up!! You ought to try working in this crap, I know Rooster is and I know I am, but the rest of you are mostly sitting in an air conditioned office
  2. Een ezel stoot zich in't algemeen ....
  3. If you ordered a D404 WWW and you got a D404 WSW, then I'd say you got the wrong tire What did the supplier say??
  4. Hmm, average Florida teacher pay value is $52,000 per year and the U.S. has slipped to 9th place in education worldwide. We spend an average of $11000 per student per year nationwide. So if the teacher gets paid by the first 5 students in the class where does the rest of the money go? Never mind answering that, i'd have to get on my soapbox about the idiocy of the American education system...
  5. For what it's worth, I pulled my wheel and it has: a worn bearing; a low spot on one side of the thread (pretty abrupt drop over about 4-6 inches of the circumference) and I have a slight side to side wobble (though that could be from the bearings ...I think)
  6. maybe your problem is similar to mine. I have a 480x8 with integral hub on my sidecar and have been running it at 35psi. My wife says at 20psi she can feel the rim hit the pavement if I hit a bridge deck or skim a pothole. Nevertheless my tire wear is similar at 3K miles, though I still have some rubber in the center. I'm told I should be able to get 8 to 10K miles out of these wheels. I can tell you that at highway speeds (60+) my sidecar tracks straight with no discernible pulling tendency left or right. However (!) at city limit speeds up to 45 or so I do have a tendency to pull right if I let go (the slower the more pull). Granted I only have one wheel, but I suspect toe in is not quite where it should be. Just wish I could see which way the thing is scrubbing (maybe the paint thing would work ...) I'd check wheel alignment versus centerline like Goose suggests, overinflation may make these puppies wear faster in the center but not in 2-3K miles
  7. You can see this coming a mile away: Sir, there was a warning sign and we talked to housekeeping and they said the sign was there when you dropped your bike .....
  8. Just wondering here, how can the federal government ban drilling in international waters unless it is through the threat of revoking operating licenses (blackmail??) And what would have happened if this had happened to a Chinese, Venezuelan or Cuban company? You don't suppose they would have voluntarily paid the fines that BP is having to pay right now would you? Or expended the effort and funds to stop this thing?? I'm just wondering ... Unemployment is up in La?? What the H? they should be at 0% 'cause every one of them should be at the beach cleaning up. We should give up on carbon based fuels? Tell that to the Chinese who are building a new coal fired powerplant every month while you hitch you horse to your buggy. I'm not saying this is not a bad thing to have happened and I appreciate what is being done in clean up work, but Prince William Sound made a very nice recovery and so will the Bayou.

I installed Condor's super brace, but still have the OEM, if you want it let me know!
  10. new members were welcomed in the bug report forum. Freebird fixed it and there's your answer
  11. That he does!!
  12. Anyone noticed that new members are welcomed in the "bug report" forum Maybe it's easier to bait them there:whistling:
  13. I have an owners manual for a '98 shadow spirit for anyone who wants it. No takers will send it to the trash.
  14. then again, let it rattle if you can live with it. Mine rattled for a couple of months, but you could only hear it at idle and then the loose piece jammed in there somewhere, haven't heard it since. That's been a good year ago. I did think it became a very little bit louder. Oh, and I did have to pull the exhaust to replace the gaskets since then, I shook some small pieces out and it jammed again. No worries!
  15. let me know if you need more. btw, got your computer module fixed?
  16. yeah, but I'm betting Annie can't ride a 1st Gen:confused24: ....Too much power:rotfl:
  17. She comes up with some doozies don't she? Makes you wonder if they still speak something like a 19th century English over there ... Here are two loaded questions and I sure wouldn't want to put anyone on the spot, but, having said that; There are multiple folks on here who have multiple bikes and there are a number who have the Voyager kit, is it possible to find two (or one) folks who would be willing to rent these things for three months to these Ausies. Obviously, the "rent" would have to be under the table, to bypass insurance requirements. Personally, if I had a 2nd gen and another bike (or two), I wouldn't care and they'd be more then welcome to borrow it and bolt whatever they want on it. Alternatively, I found this link http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46396 indicating they may be able to buy a kit, if someone would be willing to rent their second gen for several months and have a kit bolted on to it, it may be a money saver. And someone with way more time on their hands then me may even consider contacting Voyager and see if they would be willing to donate a kit in exchange for ...... I'm just saying: $4800 to ship their bike over is pretty steep and the way Annie is thinking they'd be without a bike when they'd get back. And hell, while we're talking we should be able to get the whole setup to Portland by the time they get here with some kind of relay. Just something to think about.
  18. Hey Sam, Kill switch kills the engine, period! Standing still or driving down the road, you flip it, she dies!
  19. bendtdj put some surface mount lights in the holes on the old scoop, I imagine if you're going to fab one you should be able to incorporate some type of mounting bracket for whatever lights you want to put on.
  20. it's open on the bottom
  21. Other queustion: you're saying the bike is running hot, but then you say it's in the middle if the green. So are you talking about engine temperatures being too high or excessive engine heat on the back of your thighs, even in cooler night time temps?
  22. depends on ambient air temp. starting off in low/mid seventies and staying on open road I'm running mid green; going through town with temps in the upper 80s/90s will get me upper green and fan kicking in. When it's that hot I also have a problem with coming of idle, but I'm sure that's a different problem
  23. The cut outs for the lights are 2-5/8th by 2 the front top is 14-3/8th the front bottom is 13-1/2 the back bottom is a hair over 14 just in front of the pipes. Teh "ears" are bend in slightly to crimp the thing on the mounts front to back on the botom edge is 8 1/2 front to back on top is 3 there is a cutout for the top engine guard mount and on mine the bottom edge has a slight scallop on it front to back. measurements are O.D. If you want the original pictures send me your e-mail addy. Hope this helps
  24. Just curious here, but why bother asking, you already changed it back. Have a good fourth!!
  25. I just swapped my 402w. 16K mikes for a 404 for the heavier sidewall, And NOW you tell me they don't last. Whats up with that :confused07:
