I'll sell you the whole rear end subframe with bags and trunk for .... Oh I don't know, make me an offer ....
-
You're like my wife, she wouldn't get on the bike either though she had ridden as a passenger before, I just let her be and about a year later she suddenly climbed on. then, when i got the sidecar, she was telling me I might as well sell the thing, 'cause she wasn't about to get in it. I let her be again and one day she just gets in, I didn't say a word:innocent: she still will close her eyes and drop her head if we run into a stretch she doesn't like, she's also quick to tell me to slow down and she's very good at "communicating" (a la "Top Gun") with drivers who are, uhh ... , shall we say, not as sensitive and considerate to the presence of motorcycles. ride if you want, not because you think you should, you'll be a better passenger and you'll enjoy the ride more.

Venture Royale carburetor questions

In a couple of weeks you might not be able to post anymore unless you become a supporting member ........for a mere $12........... Hint, hint -
The problem with my thumb lock is that it does slip at lower speeds (I presume from wear) and you need to "knock" it to get it off, which takes valuable time if you need to hit the brakes hard. I believe the throttlemeister is a vernier type friction lock, which needs to be unscrewed to unlock. If I were to purchase a new throttle lock I would go with the breakaway in spite of the hefty price tag. the ability to be able to dump the throttle simply by hitting the brake is priceless as I found out when I almost had a tank slapper with my thumb lock on.

Roger, I have an 83 Royale with a throttle lock mounted between the switch and the grip. As far as I know this is an aftermarket item since I don't recall having that sucker when I bought an 83 back in 83. If you have the wherewithall to retrofit an electronic cruise I would recommend that

Yup, liquor can only be bought at the ABC (liquor) store (big red dot on the building), though beer and wine can also be had at the grocery store (and gas stations (beer)). Down south you have to watch the "blue laws" which prohibit alcohol sales on sundays. Also note that many if not most stores are open 7 days/wk and depending where you are may be 24/7, or they stay open late (0900pm) You will likely not find a "baker" a "butcher" or a "dairy" store, and depending where you go/are you can buy everything but the kitchen sink at the grocery store. Ingle's groceries down here offers gas sales as well and gives 0.03cents of if you pay with their gift card. I.e. go buy a gift card, then go get gas with it. don't know if anyone up north does something like that but may be worth knowing. The US allows right turns on red after coming to a stop. The US allows passing on the right. Unlike Europe, most road sign are written out; i.e. "no passing zone" "California stops" are a slow down before rolling through a stop sign. CB lingo for highway patrol: Smokey. well, that's a start, others may have some useful info as well. Enjoy your stay, sorry I can't get to meet you.

The heck with that! I could use some money and I just read this so I am posting this to all my friend let the money roll in!! Be quiet you Heretic!! Money bags This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So, forward this to your friends and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese Feng Shui. The one who does not forward.....will be without money. Kinda interesting - read on!!! This year we're going to experience four unusual dates. 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all... Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add the age you will be this year, The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world. This is the year of the Money!!! The proverb goes that if you send this to eight good friends money will appear in next four days as it is explained in Chinese FENGSHUI. Those who don't continue the chain won't receive....... Its a mystery, but its worth a try. good luck.

you say you have a wobble in the thread title, but then in the body you relate to it as a vibration. I'd personally differentiate between the two and methinks it would also suggest a different source. so the bigger question is why is it doing whatever it is doing? Have you always had this problem, is the rig set up properly? toe in, lean out? What is the condition of the front tire, have you checked steering head bearings, wheel bearings, slop in the attachment points, etc. Also, you should be able to reach that speed in third, does it occur then? What about RPM's when this happens, is there a correlation? Do you have anything attached to the forks (deflectors, whatever), which may cause air turbulence or harmonic resonance? Tire pressure? Does it do it without the sidecar attached? Are all your wheels true? Have you hit any major potholes? I'm just throwing stuff out here Jake. Maybe it'll trigger something you haven't looked at , or make you remember what may have changed when this started. I can't really relate since I am running a leaning sidecar, but I can tell you that I have a "less stable" handlebar when my front tire is near the end of it's life. Like right now, I could maybe get another 3K miles out of it and I can tell a difference in handling. Oh, I'm running the same style front tire. Good luck!

I've been thinking about moving some lights around as well as replacing my old old fog lights with some more up to date LED night time driving lights. I've found these: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&category=TRUCK&Page2Disp=/specs/wlcwhp10_specs.htm the frontal area of the S25 model is basically the same as my current lights but they are less then half as deep. I am thinking of having these on a separate switch and just turn them on at night when I need/want the extra light. I do have Squid's bracket s to put them on. Anyone have these, and what are your impressions ?? I also have some amber LED marker/daytime running lights under the sidecar which I want to move to the bike and hook into the headlamp/front turnsignals, after which i want to put something like these under the sidecar: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2Fdrlcw8hf_specs.htm#photos I think that if i do all that I should theoretically have enough light up front

Had to modify the security setting on about a dozen files but I got it up and running. Thanks for all the assistance!!

that last link seems to have the solution. Having to change permissions on a bunch of files from "trusted Installer" to include system and administrator but it is loading in fits and spurts. I'm sure there's a way to change that for all application files, but I don't know it, Let you all know how this works out after I finish and get it installed. just hope I don't screw someting else up:hihi:

I used to run "Clip" software which was specifically designed for landscaping. the last iteration I ran was their "Clip visual", it turn out it was written on old code and support always blamed the operator or the system. Yes they would generate patches which would run till the next problem came along, it got to the point that those who were vocal about the problems were banned from the user forum, were blocked from posting, the archives which documented all the problems were "lost", then suddenly there were no more problems because the posts describing issues were intercepted and kept of the forum altogether. There were also issues with the developer cheating contributing software writers out of their compensation, etc. So a bunch of us moved to Alocet's QXpress, an OK program which integrates with QB. I say OK 'cause it is not from complete i.e. unfinished and it does not appear that there is any desire to add the finishing touches. Anyway's I rented the program for going on 6 years at over 500/yr before finally buying it for over 800 about a year ago. As stated my extortion agreement is 9 days out of date, I have over 200 support minutes they won't honor until I pay their annual fee, although they would be happy to assist if were an prospective customer. So yes, there are some sour grapes, but I don't think I am being unreasonable. I'm getting a message which says: "the file C:\\Windows\system32\msvcrt.dll can not be opened". I am trying to find a solution through the programs help files and user forum, before moving on to y'alls suggestions. thanks for the suggestions and letting me vent!

May take you up on that, I'll give them one more shot, then blast them on FB, LinkedIn, their user forum and among my colleagues. Who knows something may give

I've rented a routing/scheduling program for my business for some 5 years before finally buying the dang thing. Now I am trying to install it on my laptop which has Windows 7 and i get an error message. Since I am 9 days out of my annual update subscription they won't help me without my renewing the annual updates for a mere $350. What gripes my rear about the program as well is that after I bought the program I found out that I have to have the programmers permission to use the damn thing through their password verification. And they wonder why I don't want to renew my updates. Aaarggghh!

loud clunk when starting...

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but that link goes to a post by Freebird's which gives another link which is a dead end????? -
two things: one being that that was essentially taken care of by their need to ignore the "group" and just ride solo and ahead. The second goes in the "lesson learned" category. I did not have a map with me, I don't have a GPS on the bike and the GPS feature on my phone does not work anymore. I've only been in that area about twice so I'm not familiar with the roads meaning I would have been flying blind. Kind of like saying you're sailing to Catalina on the basis that it is "that way". I would have gotten home, just wouldn't have known when . I'll be better prepared next time if there ever even is one with this bunch.

Herb might be right but from where I'm sitting, lime is like cat litter, you get that stuff wet and it gets very nasty.. I'd try a windy day and a couple of really good blowers as well as a pressure washer on the walls. Or since you are doing a barn wedding cover the floor in straw??

We had a great weekend. Saturday I had to go look at a job and we turned it into a "quick" 100 mile scenic ride. The ride was almost ruined by the sight of a fat shirtless man walking down the side of a busy 4 lane road with his hand so far down inside his pants he could have scratched his toes. The sun won out however and we even got to see our first triked scooter. That night we were invited to ride with a local group, which is where the Kudos come in. Saturday night we were told the ride would be from Easley SC to Hiawasee and Helen Ga. Here are some observations. To my surprise, no pre ride meeting (even though these guys ride together all the time), I didn't know what route was planned and the ride leader was at times at least a half mile ahead of the pack of 7 bikes. On the way back three of them totally disappeared and headed back to Easley leaving three of us behind while a fourth did wait to ride back with us. Another gentleman riding a triked wing who specifically stated he didn't like twisties and I (with sidecar following him) were left behind going through some of the more twistie sections, if something would have happened they would have had to come looking for us when they realized we took too long to show up. The rider of the trike "thought" he heard some sound early in the ride, it was brushed off as being because it was a wing. I don't mind having a beer with lunch while on a ride, though I didn't since I figured out by then what road we would be on, but the ride leader downing a bloody Mary followed by four beers at lunch in Hiawasee and another three in Helen is irresponsible at best. All in all we rode just over 200 miles with 9 (nine) stops! Notwithstanding all that, the ride was beautiful and lunch at the Yacht Club in Hiawasee was delicious, but I'd prefer to ride with y'all anytime. Maybe I've been spoiled by Blackjack's and others meticulous planning and well organized rides, but If we are going to ride in a group I'd much prefer the VR bunch with it's willingness of members here to help each other, stick together and show some sense while riding. Kudos to y'all!!

I'm looking for one of those to put on the sidecar (which will make my wife happy). I know JCWhitney has some very basic ones, but I am looking for a door mount style with a cone shaped housing. I need the right hand side one. Every website I have gone to either requires a log in or asks for a make and model. They just don't seem to list my sidecar. A friend of mine has an old car sitting in a barn but he seems reluctant to let me pull the mirror off. Something about it being worth 60K (as is). If you have one of this style mirrors lying around and want to part with it shoot me a pics and price; if you're better at surfing the web and finding this kind of stuff, I'd appreciate the link. Y'all have a great weekend, riding tomorrow!! :happy65:

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about, I got a brand new set (black), but I gots me an '83 so there may be a difference. Anywho, give me a shout if you're interested. -
Darn, now you got me looking, coming from around Greenville SC I'm looking at great circles to Memphis, Richmond or Ocala. Unless...... Maybe a up and back and meet in the middle? Would that even be feasible?

So you're leaving the wife at home 'cause the dog wants to go riding:whistling: No comment .....

I was far from Mr. Popular my self and I came out just fine. I am also married to a beautiful woman who was bullied to no end as a teenager, any body who knows her now would never guess that, for she would rip little bloody strips off of anybody who would try to boss her around unjustifiably. Though I do not deny that bullying can be traumatic, it in no way destroys self esteem unless the individual allows that, which goes back to the individuals inner strength, parenting and support. We must each make our own destiny. Choosing plastic surgery is choosing an external solution for an internal problem, kind of like putting paint over a wall covered in mold. It might look better, but it don't fix the problem. and quit yelling .....
