  1. Ah, but Annie, self esteem does not come from plastic surgery. I think Mommy has issues and is projecting them on her daughter.
  2. My initial reaction was "WOW", figured you changed it, but if it updates as you go, I don't see a problem. Whatever works best for you, there'll always be someone who wants to biatch.

    So,

I've had an occasional brainfart and started putting gas in my 3500. never any serious amount, just swapped pumps and continued filling up with diesel. As a non mechanic i would say you'd bve OK if you only added a gallon or so on a 50 gal tank
  4. guessing Salt Lake City Utah.
  5. As I recall, that thing was sitting at the international motorcycle show. and yes, that thing looked Kewll!!!
  6. I have no problem hauling a$$ (and enjoying it) with my '83 on the slab but that is really not the primary concern. I am concerned about the second gear and cracked frame issues mine may (will?) have. I am at 39K miles now so theoretically it may be another couple of years, but I don't have the knowledge to fix that myself so perhaps prudence would dictate I start looking at a possible replacement. Thanks for the feedback guys! It'll be awhile before this happens and I need to start saving. Between now and then maybe I can find a airhead somewhere I can borrow to see if I like the ride.
  7. Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what the relationship is between these three and other pertinent output info? I.e., what is more relevant, Hp, torque, compression ratio, bore and stroke, displacement? Or(/and) does this relate to driving style and area (e.g. Florida Flat or Colorado curvy) thanks Oh, I'm wondering 'cause I was surfing the web and found what turns out to be a 1200, 65 Hp engine with I think it said 71ft/lbs (R1200CLC) and since I haul a sidecar and would like to continue doing so, is this something I should not consider or is it a possibility
  8. And thus he points out the depravity of the American media and portions of this society.
  9. I'd have to go look at it again, I did drill the lock out to get it open and it does have a luggage rack. Should be at the shop this p.m. and take a peek.

    software

Dingbat here must have throw away the wrong set of disks for re-installing software in case of a "problem"; so now that I have purchased a new hard drive I can't re-install windows XP Tablet (OS). I've been trying to find a place where to get it (free would be nice) but am having no luck. Any of you Techies know where to pick a copy up?? Thanks
  11. Those were mostly the issues I had heard about in the past so no big surprises there. I did misstate the year it is an 84 so only a year younger then my VR. Of course on the VR I am still facing the possibility of a cracked frame and the second gear issue. I'll see about getting some pics if i do decide to get it (when Kevin is done farting around with the other one) Thanks
  12. A friend of mine dropped by last night to show of his '86 Aspencade with 86K miles which he bought for $1000. By the outside lights it looks like it is pretty decent. He plans to ride it until he finishes customizing his wing's paint job and offered to sell it to me at that time for the same 1000. Without other research (you guys are it so far), I imagine that you guys are going to tell me that at that price I can't go wrong?? How about the bike itself? Problem areas (alternator?)? How does it compare to my '83 Royale? Or is that like apples and oranges? Thanks!
  13. Thanks Roadkill, that would be the easy part which I know, but it is a tad more complicated. SilverT, pm sent.
  14. I'm trying to modify one of my excel sheets but can't figure what formula(s) to use. I track regional fuel costs on a weekly basis for billing purposes. I want to be able to insert the first monday of each year and have the formula fill each subsequent monday within the respective month. (More specific I need the first Monday after the 25th of each month which means in some years that would be a December date) My problem lies in the fact that some months will have 5 and others only 4 such dates. This is what I have so far and I want to replace the "week #" with an actual date. 12/26/10 week 1 3.012 3.256 January week 2 3.029 3.303 week 3 3.050 3.308 week 4 3.056 3.392 week 5 3.068 3.421 total 3.043 3.336 $ 3.28 01/26/11 week 1 3.041 3.432 February week 2 3.067 3.501 week 3 3.089 3.524 week 4 3.132 3.557 week 5 total 3.082 3.504 $ 3.42 For purposes of this sample the first Monday would actually be 12/27/10 and week 5 in February should remain blank as the 2/28 falls in the next billing cycle. I hope this makes sense, and more so, i hope one of you can point me in the right direction. Thanks! Oops that table didn't transfer!!

  16. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/FlexitSidecarOwnersGroup/ Now that I am somewhat more awake, the Armec, among others, is a sidecar with leaning motorcycle, I think Swiss(?). In this type set-up you would create attachment points centered under the bike so that the sidecar would remain level during the turns, this would reduce your ground clearance and depending on the bike could create some interesting times when cresting a ride in a turn for example. In a true leaner side car, the side car articulates with the bike and though the attachment points are not centered under the bike the fact that the sidecar leans with it offsets any potential counter steering by the chair. Besides home build you are very limited in sources, the only new one available is the Fleximum from Canada (I think they are custom build), and used, the Flexit, the Equalean and the Toro sidecar . Let me know if I can help. I am running a modified frame Equalean.
  17. go to my profile pics, I run a leaner and love it. The problem with this setup you are looking at is that you'll need more distance between side car and bike to allow room for the right turn. the pax would still be exposed to centrifugal forces though. There are a number of leaning rigs like that in Europe. there is a ggole group on leaning sidecars, let me look it up when i get to my other computer
  18. That be the Netherlands, but they do the same in Germany, Belgium etc. unless things changed for the worse in the last 30 years
  19. I've got a set of boards that will do the same thing, they are basically brand new. Should be in classifieds.
  20. In my native country 11 is the number for loonies, so the 11th of the 11th (month) at 11:11 (pm!) is the start of carnival. Obviously the wedding should take place in the evening

    road trip

should've mentioned, I'll be picking up my Mother in Law's old truck and bringing it home. ( '86 Ford 250 extended cab with new engine/turbo) No leisure trip, a quick up and back. And no bike ride there either lest I can convince my ex brother in law to let me try his Hardley .... The southerly route is 30 miles longer but seems to add a lot of metro areas, thanks for the info on I40.

    road trip

looks like i'll be making a little road trip if everything works out the way I hope. the "big" question is which way to go, my choices are either I40 East from CA to SC or stay a little lower and take I 10 and I 20. any thoughts? I want to do this in three days if possible (2300+ miles) -- hmm, maybe four:hihi:
