  1. well, not quite trailer, sidecar really. My leaning sidecar came originally with a 480x8 wheel with integral hub, I am upgrading this to a separate hub and wheel combo from Northern Tool. Here's the rub, when I install everything there is a hump like you would have on a spoke wheel with the spokes adjusted wrong. If the swingarm is somehow not perfectly even, would the tire not still track straight albeit under an angle Am I correct in assuming that if the hub is cast incorrectly the whole wheel would run under an angle? Could the wheel rim be warped? What would the effect of this (sideways) wobble be at high speed with this size tire? I am trying to get the side car back on the bike and run it before next weekend's March on Rome, so I am kind of pushing on this to get it re-attached and aligned. Thanks for any feedback! And have a great Labor Day weekend!!
  2. are you including the dash panel to mount it in? What other parts would be needed to make it fully functional for those who want to add it to their ride.
  3. newsflash!! Charleston SC is not in the red zone:whistling:
  4. Wish I could Doug, but with Brenda losing her job we gots to be a little careful.
  5. I had to be in the attic and there were no stairs just a trap door. Going down I figured I could position the trap door, flip it up and drop down before it closed ...... Well, not quite! I was left hanging with my fingers jammed in a self tightening clamp and my feet about a foot of the ground. They had to cut my wedding band off but no broken bones or major damage. I look back at some of the stuff i've pulled and remind myself that if anybody else had done that, I would have called him/her a stupid idiot.
  6. Michelin maps are awesome, used them many summers in Europe! Having said that, I've never seen them here, if they do exist this side of the pond you'll need to keep in mind that due to their detail you'd need an awful lot of them. Annie, before I went in the military, a friend of mine and I traveled the US by greyhound bus, we had a month and a half and we went from New York to Florida, to Phoenix, through Oregon, Canada and back to NY through Michigan. We were on that bus almost every day! You can't see it all!!
  7. South Carolina has a $300 cap on vehicle sales tax. Last time I bought a vehicle in Georgia it was 8% (?) of the sales price. Also, as mentioned some counties charge an optional sales tax and some cities will have their own tax to sustain their welfare programs. Are you planning to fly in, pick up a bike and ride off? Is so, you are limited to California and New York (Quantas), though I'm guessing you will probably have offers to be picked up and drug around (I'm in the wrong part of the country). Guess you will need to firm up your plans a little before folks can start hunting for you.
  8. I must be missing something; you got a used set of OEM pipes because you wanted quiet; he's got a used set of Bub's, 'cause he wants loud(er). You didn't mention what condition the OEM's were in, were they pristine, spotless, shiny? But you mentioned that there were some small spots on the Bub's, which, as mentioned, will likely buff/polish out. So the question is, why does he want his old pipes back? Here's a thought: Big Tom, Ruffy, either of you still interested, maybe you can pay shipping and get some pipes after all.
  9. you mean like: go to dealer, find bike, pay cash, ride off? Likely you'll be getting an international drivers license which they have probably never seen before but you can use unless you're just dying to get a US license, you'll be needing an address from somebody for registration and insurance (you can use mine). You buy from an individual the same rules apply, but you will be going to the DMV (department of Motor Vehicles) to do the paper work instead of the dealer. If your thinking what I think you're thinking i would suggest hooking up with someone like the Squid, condor or Dingy (not meaning to leave any highly qualified people out here) and give them a list of requirements and modifications you'll need so that maybe you can have it all done by the time you get here. Just a thought.
  10. only time I had problems was when FF 3.5 first came out. what ever the problem was at the time got fixed (somehow??)
  11. Can you say: zip tie??
  12. It doesn't get any simpler then this! Subject: Arizona Governor's response to Phoenix Suns Owner Phoenix Suns have protested the Arizona Immigration Law: The owner of the Phoenix Suns basketball team, Robert Sarver, opposes AZ's new immigration laws. Arizona 's Governor, Jan Brewer, released the following statement in response to Sarver's criticism of the new law: "What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into games without paying? What if they had a good idea who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees couldn't be ejected. Furthermore, what if Suns' ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with complimentary eats and drink? And what if, on those days when a gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free medical care and shelter?" - Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer
  13. your age is between 1 and 100?:whistling::rotfl: Whodathunk:crackup:
  14. Salty, When wearing my full face in good weather, I keep the shield up or if I don't like the temps, I tend to keep the face shield cracked, that little opening makes a big difference in the amount of "noise", for me anyways. Might give it a try.. I usually wear a 3/4 in summer, just a tad cooler
  15. My bike's running great:cool10:, but considering my 'puter problems this year, I wondered if I had to get a new screen name. "Crash and Burn" or something:depressed: Oh, I suppose I could take offense and start digging through threads to see what else is on the forum besides motorcycles, but it really wouldn't be worth my time:happy65:
  16. Thanks for the feed back Gents! Here's how it came down, I did manage to get a hold of securityshields support people (in India), He was going to help me sort it all out looked around and showed me why I had a problem (he claimed), then had me re-start in safe mode which was absolutely useless due me using a wireless keyboard/mouse. From there it was off to when the last time I had the HD professionally serviced, then on to how I could take it to Best Buy and have this taken care of and winding up trying to sell me an annual service contract for $170with Best Buy. when i pointed out that he was going to help me solve my problem and that I was not going to buy a service contract he basically hung up on me. he was kind enough to download "SUPERAntiSpyware". I basically took his hints as a guideline, dug up a 10 yr old wired keyboard and dumped AVG and securityshield from safe mode, ran his super spyware stuff and cleaned out some "minor" issues and upgraded that program to my new virus software since securityshield would not properly uninstall even with their uninstall tool. I'm back in business:happy65: And I have an offer; I still have 355 days paid use out of Security shield, I have used it since 2008 with no problem, but they ticked me off and since it wouldn't let me re-install, I moved on (life's too short). So, if you want a free virus scan program for almost a year let me know, I'll send you the download link and the registration key. first come first serve!!
  17. Thanks guys! I've had some minor success in that I tried "one more time" to reboot and it opened up. Everything is still slower then doo in winter, I've seen a number of "virtual memory low" warnings, I'm being bombarded with script running warnings especially with Firefox, I can't uninstall "securityshield" (the offending software) through windows cause "Windows installer services can not be accessed", I did manage to download the uninstall tool, but can't get it too run (maybe I'm too impatient, 30 minutes should do it I figure). So I am making progress:crackup: The bigger question based on your suggestions. My routing and scheduling program is keyed to the system, move it to another 'puter or reformat and re-install requires a new password, apparently I have used up my allotted number of passwords for the next 6 months and I am told that I will either have to rent the program for that time or buy another license, either option runs in the hundreds. Yes I do own this program, If that is what you want to call it Also, I have considered uninstalling Firefox and re-installing it to bypass the script errors so that maybe the uninstall tool would run. Assuming I can un-install would this work? Would I be correct in assuming that it would not solve any other damage? Is it "fixable" to avoid the rental fees on my routing program.
  18. I've been running AVG 9.0 free for about a month now but my Quickbooks started acting up. so in my infinite "wisdom" I figure I'd download PCSecurity shield2010, a program which I had paid for but due to repeated hard drive problems had not been re-installed (yet). So after installing this I ran a system scan; after 14-1/2 hours it still wasn't finished! Can't un install AVG; can't uninstall security shield; firefox won't open; outlook was acting up and after rebooting the ultimate insult, I can't get past the boot screen. i.e I cannot open it in safe mode. I do not want to re-format this thing AGAIN if at all possible. I figure I can take it upstairs and throw it of the front porch and put it out of it's misery, but my company files are on there so maybe someone here has a better alternative???
  19. Give it a rest Texas, you're so hung up on that blasted tire pressure, you can't seem to see the whole picture! Yes, since only the center of the tread is worn, you are correct in stating that he can and probably should run a lower pressure. What I fear you're ignoring is that a lower tire pressure would have simply shown the entire tread worn off. So we all agree that lowering tire pressures would improve the handling (less bounce, etc), but it doesn't do squat for the actual problem, namely tires lasting only 2000 miles, and that my friend, has nothing to do with overinflated tires. As far as your scooter tires only lasting 800 miles, most of those things are only rated for 50-60mph and with your apparent propensity for running under inflated tires AND running them on a trailer probably going faster then the rated speed, hmmm, you don't suppose you killed them because of that, do you ...?? Now you kids want to argue about how to fix this mans trailer problems fine!, but can the chatter about tire pressure
  20. they have both a conductor and dispatcher opening locally, meaning I would not have to move (? immediately:scratchchin:). We'll see, I put in my resume.
  21. considering it. Applying does not mean getting the job though, so we'll see! Benefits and retirement package are tempting.
  22. Anybody here work for these guys??
  23. It goes pretty much without say that no divorce is ever "fun" though some can be more brutal then others. Part of this, in my opinion, is that emotions take over; a divorce is a business transaction, and the best thing anyone can do in this situation is to keep that in mind. You say, your future ex is a good person and I have no doubt she is (can be) but her lawyer will try and take you to the cleaners. If this is what she wanted you should probably play on that, never mind that you needed it. My father paid alimony till the day he died and he paid for almost 40 years. You might want to think hard on what you're willing to give up to prevent that. I was lucky in a sense that my ex let me go without alimony or child support and a check for 2K. she wanted out, I didn't, She has since apologized for "what she put me through", go figure! I wish you the best, these are hard times regardless of whether you "win" or "lose"! You're in my thoughts!
  24. Cherokee trikes in Greer SC had two on the floor the other day, red and white and copper and black I believe http://www.cherokeetrikes.com
