  1. The main features I want are the navigation and the MP3 player. Is the 550 my best bet? I really don't think I will use features like loading in trips, etc.
  2. Looking for pics and suggestions on loading my 2nd gen. My tent ( Catoma Solo Rider, I'll post a review after my trip) and sleeping pad are wider than the trunk rack and seem to push the antennas out, prohibiting their movement. I don't want to snap them going down the road. I will be traveling one up and plan to use the pillion seat for the tent, pad and a small cooler. Does anyone have pics of their Ventures loaded for long trips / camping? Suggestions on bungee cords, tie downs or attachment points would be appreciated. I searched but didnt come up with much. Any pics, help or suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks and stay safe! csogbk
  3. I'm just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this company's rear shock. I was searching around on the Internet and found that this company builds a shock that fits the Royal Star Venture. I wrote there U.S. dealer, Dave Quinn motorcycles in Conn. and promptly received this reply. Happy to help. Hagon makes shocks for 98 and up 1300 Venture Star with VIN prefix XVZ13TF or 4XY. Currently out of stock, can easily get, 2-4 weeks. Cost is $394 plus UPS at cost to you which will vary depending on your zip code. 'Off-the-shelf' shocks are assembled for an average rider- there is enough adjustability in the stock shock to cover a wide range of loading. It would be useful to know your weight, and whether you carry passengers (% of time? Passenger weight?) or luggage (saddlebags? tank bag? top box? loading in each?) and what your maximum loading (passenger/luggage) is likely to be. If Hagons determine that your loading exceeds the design parameters of the shock, they can supply to special order a shock with an uprated spring. Conversely if you are very light, Hagons can for some shocks supply a lighter spring. Softer and harder springs are available as custom built units only for $464 and will take between 4 and 6 weeks to get here. Shocks are also available to special order with a remote hydraulic spring preload adjuster- $554 for a stock spec shock and $624 for an upgraded spring model. Hagon monoshocks are fully rebuildable and feature straight weight spring with adjustable spring preload (threaded manual or hydraulic remote adjuster), adjustable 15 position LINKED compression and rebound damping (one adjuster for both) and a two year unlimited mileage warranty against failure due to manufacturing defect. Bent shocks due to accident, impact, dropped bike, improper installation or owner malfunction will not be warranteed. Shocks are not returnable once they have been fitted. All adjusting tools are included with the shock. You can see representative Hagon monoshocks online at http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/HAGON_MONOSHOCKS.html Shipping and insurance will be charged at cost and will vary depending on what you order, your zip code and any fuel surcharges in effect on the day your order ships. We ship by UPS in the continental USA, by Priority Mail to AK and HI and by US Mail Express International outside of the USA. For special orders we ask for a 50% good faith deposit when Hagons accept the order, with the balance due when we ship. Please note- Special orders are not returnable unless found to be defective. If you're interested in ordering, we accept VISA & Mastercard; we need: -name as it appears on your credit card -daytime phone number -billing address for the card -ship-to address if different -card number -expiration date. Call or Fax if you are uneasy about emailing credit card details. Let me know if I can offer you any other information. 6. Has anyone else been having problems with Firefox loading this site the past week? Only had problems with this site. Explorer loads it OK. Any suggestions as to a fix for Firefox. Gary
  7. Yeah, I know a little late, but Mechanic has been down the a cold or something, same thing I had last week, finally got around to loading the pics. 8. I finally gother back on the road and now she is loading up. If I get below 2000 RPMs, then it iwll load up and die. Does anyone have any ideas? I have already restricted the fuel flow from the petcock. I put the petcock half on/half off. It does not seem to help.
  9. I have had an on-going problem on our site with many pages not fully loading. The symptom is seen in several ways - sometimes the "time line" on the bottom of the browser gets almost to the end, then just sits there forever. Sometimes the status on the bottom actually changes to "Done", but the page below the header stays blank gray. In either of these situations, re-clicking on the link I used does absolutely nothing, but clicking on the refresh button almost always causes the page I was trying to get to to load properly. There does not seem to be any connection with what I was attempting to do - sometimes it is doing a search, sometimes trying to pull up a new thread, sometimes just going to the next page in a thread, and sometimes attempting to make a reply. This problem is not a slow response issue, as the page never finishes loading unless I hit refresh. This seems to have been going on since the last time Don made some fixes after the hosting change, and it ONLY happens to me on this site - never browsing anywhere else. I use XP and IE7. I turned off the Phishing filter in IE7, but it made no difference. The frequency is quite high and may be getting worse - seems like about 1 in 10 page requests on average, but I haven't actually tried to count them yet. I assumed for a long time it was wither my ISP, just normal Internet hiccups, or even my home network, but now I am sure it is specific to our site. Has anyone else been experiencing something like this? Goose
