This video is about 12 min long...but worth it. It talks about Americans coming together...but I'd like to think that most people would do the same thing! http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthread.php?136581-BoatLift-An-Untold-tale-of-September-11-Resilience

  4. OUR FIRST RIDE FOR 2011! FOR ALL OF THAT WAS NOT ABLE TO RIDE TODAY ENJOY! http://www.photoshow.com/watch/aD9Ay3Ar LOADING MY TAKE A MIN. PHILL
  5. Just yesterday I got on the bike and after about 15-20 min I realized that there wasn't any noise coming out of the headset. Oops forgot to turn on the radio. As soon as I noticed I realized just how much I enjoy riding that it takes me 20 min to realize that all I'm listening to is the sound of the ride. (and yes, I had a smile on my face the entire time.)
  6. OK, YOU WANT TO TAKE A 900+ MILE RIDE. I TOOK 79 VIDEO CLIPS ON MY RECENT TRIP. BEFORE I DELETED THEM I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THEM. IT IS 35 MIN. YOU HAVE SEE SOME OF THEM. http://www.photoshow.com/watch/mu6SM8Jf?source=em_ps_show_owner
  7. For those of you who didn't see my first post. I bought an 83 first gen about a month ago for about 1000 dollars. While the bike ran it needed some TLC and thus the low price. After re-connecting all the wires going to the various sensors and fixing the problems that set off all the warnings the previous owners didn't want to bother with I was finally able to move on to the plastic. The pictures I'll be posting will show the before paint and after paint but not before the repair work was done. (Mostly because I forgot to take pictures of the all the damage before I started.) I got it all put back together about a week ago, (after about 3 weeks of having it torn apart) and today was able to take it on a local ride (Ride for the Fallen (soldiers)) that was 120miles long. The ride was great and there were over 200 bikes that participated. The only hiccup was a storm that decided to rain on us for a min (and if you were lucky like me and Utadventure hail on us too) but it was only for a few min and then everything cleared up. So in the end I'm thinking of getting a licence plate that says 'Stark' or some such to go with the paint scheme (even though that wasn't what I had in mind when I picked out the colors.) http://s739.photobucket.com/albums/xx33/shtrdthrd/Iron%20Man%20Paint%20Job/ Edit: Not sure why the link doesn't go to the paint album. Just click on the album "Iron Man Paint Job"
  8. Can you move the handlebars in and out on a 88 VR like you can on a 85, ref Squidleys reply on the matter. And thanks to everybody on the battery sensor fix, I got the stuff and did the job in about 45 min., Gel batt was from Advance Auto (89$), not an Odyssey, used a 1K Ohm resistor.
  9. Toke a 45 min ride today.38 degrees but it was worth it. Did not go far but had a good ride. Got some strange looks from people passing. Got a snow watch out for tonite and monday. It will it never end.
  10. After I got home from todays meet and greet here in N/Cal I'm sure the puppy would like to say thanks to jack and the others if he would just drop the bloody bone for a min. Kurt

  12. Not mentioning any names here (you know who you are) but this is in response to your recipe that you so generously shared... Rick's RIB's... Rack(s) of back ribs... as many as you need. Cut into serving portions (appx 4 or 5 ribs each) Wash in cold water...salt lightly...let stand for appx 20 min. In a bowl, mix some diijon mustard with crushed fresh garlic & some extra virgin olive oil. Baste the mixture liberally onto the ribs (both sides) Sprinkle Rick's Spices liberally on the meaty side. Wrap tightly in tin foil so that the meaty side is up and the drippings won't drain out...set in a roasting pan...put in fridge for a couple hours. Heat oven to 450 Place ribs into oven and cook for 15 min @ 450 Reduce heat to 250 and cook for 3.5 to 4 hours (this may vary depending on quantity of ribs) Remove from oven and let stand for appx 1/2 hour. Mix BBQ sauce (I used mixture of Spicy Szechuan, Thai Peanut sauce, HP sauce, and Sweet Chili sauce) Remove ribs from foil wrap and baste liberally with sauce mixture. Heat BBQ to 450 or so Place ribs meaty side down and grill for appx 5 min. Flip over and baste with BBQ sauce again. Serve with your choice of side dish (I love salads) If you don't like "salty" taste... eliminate salting at beginning. ps..Rick's Spices...sorry, that's a secret!
