1. Just picked up a slightly used (maybe had 30 shots taken) Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR camera c/w 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and a 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS lens. The 55-250 lens was new in the box. Came with a real nice Lowepro "backpack" case ... all for $640! Now I can really make my scoot look great! Shot of our Honeysuckle vine at full zoom which is appx 30 ft away Shot of the house next door after dark. The "fire" is the street light. You can barely see the house with your eye due to the darkness, except for their outside lighting.
2. So, it's Saturday, it's raining/snowing, I have nothing to do. Have my fairing split to install an extension to the Aux Audio line coz I removed the cassette and I was thinking about auxilliary power switches for things like driving lamps or whatever. Remembered seeing others with those chrome 3 switch boxes on top of the front brake reservoir (I like those) and also remembered the nice rocker switches below the gauges on the Harley Ultra so, I started fabricating and came up with the following.... First pic is the Factory "bare bones" cruise switch. Second 2 pics are the completed result. Rest of the pics are in order of build process. I had some flat 1/8 thick (appx) 2" wide aluminum that I'd used for something or another. I cut a piece 6" long. Used a cardboard template to determine the appx cutout below the cruise switch. Made the cut and then realized I needed tabs to mount it. Was going to use some angle brackets but decided it would be easier and cleaner to bend the existing aluminum so I had to re-cut (hence the "fixed up" pic). Also realized that the original size (using angle brackets) would hit somewhere near the ignition switch when the wheel was turned to pin. Made the bend and checked for positioning. Cut the holes for the switches ( appx 5/8 by 1 & 1/8 based on the rocker switch I used). I drilled a hole big enuf to get a jigsaw blade in and then cut to appx size with that...then used a file to finish off, checking often to get it just right so that the switch would pop in (forgot to take pics of the switches but I used the kind that have little "pressure tangs" on the back) I drilled 4 holes for mounting screws and used some short sheet metal screws and screwed them right into the plastic. I drilled small pilot holes first. After all the cutting, filing, and checking for fit was done, I smoothed all the edges, roughed up the surfaces, cleaned it with thinners and painted the bracket with a "textured metallic" paint (black of course). I toyed with the idea of smoothing and polishing the aluminum but I felt it would not blend with the overall look. Rocker switches mounted....not yet connected to anything but hey... one day they will be!
3. Not mentioning any names here (you know who you are) but this is in response to your recipe that you so generously shared... Rick's RIB's... Rack(s) of back ribs... as many as you need. Cut into serving portions (appx 4 or 5 ribs each) Wash in cold water...salt lightly...let stand for appx 20 min. In a bowl, mix some diijon mustard with crushed fresh garlic & some extra virgin olive oil. Baste the mixture liberally onto the ribs (both sides) Sprinkle Rick's Spices liberally on the meaty side. Wrap tightly in tin foil so that the meaty side is up and the drippings won't drain out...set in a roasting pan...put in fridge for a couple hours. Heat oven to 450 Place ribs into oven and cook for 15 min @ 450 Reduce heat to 250 and cook for 3.5 to 4 hours (this may vary depending on quantity of ribs) Remove from oven and let stand for appx 1/2 hour. Mix BBQ sauce (I used mixture of Spicy Szechuan, Thai Peanut sauce, HP sauce, and Sweet Chili sauce) Remove ribs from foil wrap and baste liberally with sauce mixture. Heat BBQ to 450 or so Place ribs meaty side down and grill for appx 5 min. Flip over and baste with BBQ sauce again. Serve with your choice of side dish (I love salads) If you don't like "salty" taste... eliminate salting at beginning. ps..Rick's Spices...sorry, that's a secret!
