  1. Awesome mileage you've put in your '07 (60K) in 2 years. Where have you gone having put in that many miles. Yep, the RSV sure does love to rev high. You can't go wrong with a Venture + this Forum = Rider Satisfication
  2. Hmmmm. Looks like this is only for the plastic part not including the bracket. At this time, I am deciding whether to get Blue or Black. (leaning towards the Black for now).
  3. Hello Bluesees. I think I know what you are going through right now. Just like my Venture, I did its very first oil change and just as I was going to loosen the oil drain plug...it would not budge. I tried all my might and did the 'cheater bar' thing and it still would not budge...I was also afraid that I might break the whole bolt and that would be my worst nightmare. After spending 20-30 minutes trying to figure out how to loosen it...I finally decided to just use my air gun and hopefully the bolt would turn. I gave the bolt one small shot of the air gun ...success. If this is the first time your are changing the oil on a brand new bike, Yamaha sure does make those oil drain plugs very very tight.
  4. I love to have this rig installed on my Venture, but there will be no way that I will leave the radio mounted and the bike by itself waiting to be stolen. Not sure if I can easily hook it on and off the bike and then walk away just like my GPS unit. The rig has great potential and I'll be checking it out in person with my buddy once we get to take a ride to HRO over in Delaware. 73
  5. Happy Easter to everyone. Church in the morning and then fight the crowd for Brunch. Ride Safe.
  6. Is this the same size as the OEM lowers?
  7. At least you don't have to shovel your way out of the snow. It is April and grass is growing in our area. We also had a small bout of snow three days ago, but I really think it was 'fake' snow. Once the sun came up, it melted all of them. I'm not sure what your normal temperature is this time of the day, but I hope snow shall be over soon in your neck of the woods. Ride safe.
  8. I really like that product. This may be Bluesman's best alternative based on his current location. If I am not mistaken, you can actually make the 'cycleshell' have a semi-permanent protection as it can be secured on the ground. Just be ready to haul that 72 lbs. cover in the garage once you ride away on a nice day.
  9. That is what I am very afraid off. I've been having nightmares about that.
  10. If I was in that situation, my next best alternative would be to build a separate small garage for the bike close to the driveway. My co-worker after having to live in an apartment for years and recently purchased an RSTD, he is now in the process of closing on his first house for the sake of his bike.
  11. Enjoy the test ride. For your height, you should not have any problems. Personally, I do not find it difficult to ride around town and is definitely so fun to ride on the highways. The bike is well balanced and I do not plan to do any mechanical mods to it. Let us know what you think after the test ride.
  12. So how can we prevent this pin from failing?
  13. If that was me, I probably would have made a decision based on how many miles the trip will be and how much tread life the rear tire has. If the rear tire has some life left on the tread, I may just go ahead and use it and perhaps change tires along the way (find a moto shop). It is very scary to be riding on the highway with no more tread left on your rear tire. As far as my rear tire is concerned, I am closing in 4K miles and it still looks good. This riding season, I will try to be easy on the throttle in order to extend the life of my tire.
  14. I've never been to Seattle, but I've heard that it does rain a lot over there. Glad to hear of 3 nice rain free days has come. Enjoy the ride.
  15. Damn cager! I never trust drivers on cagers one bit. Just one story...I was riding down our local route and the driver in a Ford Van almost pulled in front of me. Luckily I was able to shine my bright lights and he stopped abruptly. I got caught up on a traffic light and went to a full stop and noticed this Ford Van has a yellow bumper sticker that states "Watch for Motorcycles." Hmmmm. You would think that he would pay to motos on the road. I wish a speedy recovery to Highlander1ga and his wife. Glad to hear that they are now recovering at home.
  16. It is really hard to trust anyone these days. Even law enforcement employees have their downfall. In our local area, I know pretty much where cops would hanging out at night or during the day. I never give them a reason to stop me for something. It may be true that mobile cops are stepping up on traffic stops. It sure is a great money maker for the district. Ride safe everyone. heatherwheels, I also think that Steve should show up in court and defend his case. Good Luck on that. Regards.
  17. Thanks for your input. I feel much better now. The jack adapter is surely one of the best accessories you can have for the Venture.
  18. Nicely done. How about 'legs'?
  19. These bikes are fun to ride. I would recommend purchasing a bike that has some factory warranty left to it. You will definitely have fun working on the bike for maintenance and adding blings.
  20. Patrick, I put 0 psi on the front forks and 25 psi on the rear. My front tire is at 36 to 37 psi and rear is at 38 psi. I ride mostly solo and only weigh 168 lbs. and 5'5". The 6 hour ride does not sound too bad, but be physically prepared to ride for that long haul home. I did the same thing when I just bought my Venture and rode for apx. 4 hours. The best part to it...enjoy the sweet ride.
  21. Wow! Just a little over 10K miles for an '03...good catch! Nice looking scoot.
  22. My Prius uses the Pink colored anti-freeze...I don't plan to use this in my Venture. Prestone is on top of my list for anti-freeze.
  23. Now that I am certain that I will need SpeedBleeder part # SB8125 (Qty:2) for the Rear Caliper and Clutch and SB7100 (Qty:2) for the Front Calipers, I went ahead and placed the order. For my coolant, I've been reading more about coolant replacement in the forum lately. Can someone point out where the drain plug is on my '07? I see a square bolt just underneathe the water pump area...? Pic will definitely help. Looking at the bike, the only way to get to that coolant cap is to remove the tank (Right?).
  24. I have synched my carb twice now. Everytime I synch the carbs, it is done at idle...but I do rev the engine time to time as I tweak the Carbtune to make it perfect.
  25. I say WW. As long as you can keep up cleaning the WW...with the amount of riding you are going to do, you should be set.
