  1. Yep. Mine does look similar to what you guys had described. More tread on the middle and more worn on the sides. I have almost 13K on my original front tire, so I am thinking by the end of this year I may go ahead and replace the front. If I can get close to 15K on my front tire, I am happy:Bunny:. Ride Safe.
  2. If you can not replace your own tire, I wouldn't pay a shop more than $200 IMO. More importantly, if the shop is going to do it...at least give him a tube of Honda Moly60 for them to use on your splines. I personally want to work on my bike for a peace of mind until the next tire change and grease job. At any rate, shop around for prices in your area...you may be able to find a shop within a 25 mile radius that will charge less and potentially do a better job.
  3. I've seen several bags on eBay for sale time to time. Hope you can find a replacement soon and get it painted (a paint job is not cheap either). For $975 for a bag from Yamaha is very expensive in my books.
  4. I am curious as to where did you measure 13.8V with the bike running. So in this case, if 13.8V is measured, it looks to be normal. What is the 'Key Off' draw on the bike? One would normally see .33mA or a tad more. As for the Stator check, if I am not mistaken, you can or may see normal resistance...I think it can be somewhere around .2 or .3. (This can be misleading) Lead Test if there are 3 connectors can be a) 1-2, b) 1-3, c) 2-3..I think it is more important to measure Stator AC output and VAC should increase with RPM. It is also best to do a rectifier test. Not sure what color leads they are in the Venture...typically it can be a Red and Black lead. Working by memory, Forward Bias will give a reading and OFL on the Reverse Bias. Keep in mind, your battery may test good, but the bike is not fully charging the battery. In other words, your battery is facing a slow death over time and will eventually be replaced after 1.5 years or so or sooner. My 2 cents.
  5. Glad to hear that you were able to synch your carbs already. I need to do mine soon, perhaps this weekend. At any rate, please consider that you probably burned a good amount of gas while you are synching your carbs...depending on how long it took you. As mentioned before, a strong head wind may drop you mpg not drastically byt noticeable in your calculations. Now fill that baby up with gas and keep on riding.
  6. +1 on that. I read it here in one of the threads.
  7. Never really tried Wally World Brand, but I think I am much satisfied with the Rotella. For a $16 oil change, that is a good price. I am telling myself, why didn't I find out about Rotella soon enough.
  8. Pretty cool indeed! I'd like to see that on Slo-Mo:photographing:

    Near hit

That was one very close call. Don't forget to say your Prayers of Thanks.
  10. Just did a change oil 2 days ago on my Venture after 3K miles of travel. Instead of using Valvoline 10W40 moto, I switched to 15W40 Rotella for $10.50 a gallon. Rode in this morning to work and the bike seems to run normally with no noticeable clutch slippage. I am starting to like this oil. Ride Safe.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I think I will just keep on riding my bike and time to time put a descent amount of Seafoam in the tank.
  12. It has been very nice over here weather wise, so I've been doing a lot more riding. This weekend is a good time to check my bolts for tightness.
  13. If you decide to get the J&S jack, you will still need the Carbon One adapter. Either way is a plus plus situation, because you will have a very stable jack that will allow you to move the bike anywhere in the garage while on jacks + if you order the Carbon 1 with legs you can have double support underneathe your bike for peace of mind and added stability.
  14. Make sure you don't have 2 antiviruse software installed in your system. As suggested, uninstall any antivirus software you have then reboot then install the latest version of Norton.
  15. I was just thinking about this, these riders almost have no time to react. It is really very sad to hear news like this one. R.I.P.
  16. Yes, I heard the news this morning as well. My Prayers to all involved in the accident.
  17. This info. is really good to know. I'm not sure if I really have to put some lubricant just on the tip of the hose and brass outer area to keep the hose from binding in the long run. If this idea is ok, I may go ahead and apply some white lithium grease or similar to it.
  18. I may have missed it somewhere, so what kind of grease did you use? HondaMoly60 is ok?
  19. Good Question. I would do the same thing, it this has not been done for a long time. If I am not mistaken, replace gear oil at least every 16,000 miles according to the manual. (Personally, my gear oil has been changed at 600 miles, 4000 miles, and then at 11500 miles.) It won't hurt to replace it with the right type of gear oil. Regards.
  20. If I recall it correctly, he got the Intense White bulb.
  21. These jacks are great and I've never had problems with it. Well made item and I highly recommend this for your Venture including Carbon One's jack adapter. As far as shipping is concerned, jacks are very heavy to begin with...it is just like shipping a good size generator/inverter, so shipping charge is premium. Caging it to save on S&H is a good option.
  22. Good tip...when you replace brake lines. Glad I saved my OEM bleeder valves. And yes to Brake Bleeders. I think they are the best bleeders you can get for your Venture and save tons of dollars down the road.
  23. I have read advertisements from them and the tread pattern seems to be ok IMO. However, I have not read any post here where someone is using a Shinko tire on a Venture. If I only had an extra rear rim, I may be tempted to give it a try for a few thousand miles.
  24. +1 to skip on emptying the tank. It will for sure save you time and aggravation. The first time I did my plugs, I just yanked that tank out of the way so I can easily blow off any dirt sitting above the jugs before pulling my wires and plugs (a reminder from forum members made me remember do this part first). 1.5 hours is really not bad for a first timer. I think I also took that long to replace mine as I was taking my time and making sure that I don't miss any step along the way. Glad to hear that everthing went well. Ride Safe.
  25. Simply order Carbon One's Jack Adapter and that is what my setup is with my J&S jack. Order the adapter with legs.
