  1. Where exactly was your inline fuse located? How did you get to it?
  2. Great write up with pics indeed. Thanks for the link. Option A will be to go to a dealer and have them fix it. Option B...To Be Determined...maybe split the fairing myself.
  3. That does make sense. The passing lamp was a dealer installed accessory for the Venture...so this may be covered under warranty. The only problem is the dealer where I bought the Venture is apx. 600 miles away near the PA/OH border. Do you think another Yamaha dealer may be willing to take a look at this as a warranty work? My issue...it is an accessory.
  4. Hmmmm. That does not sound good if the ground wire would just break off inside the lamp housing. I'm hesitant to go in the lamp itself...I will have to think about that hard and decide what my options are. As far as the switch is concerned, I probably will have to get in the fairing which I have never done...might break something in the process. However, I see 3 or 4 allen head bolts on the left and right side of the fairing...is this all i have to take out and the rear side should pop off?
  5. My wiring appears to be ok. Well insulated done by the dealer. If no luck on tracing for the trouble...I may be forced to open the fairing. However, Freebird does have a good point...I suspected 40% that the switch may be the culprit. Coming home tonight around 8 pm was not a problem since the Venture really had a nice headlight that is bright enough...but I really want my passing lamps to light up soon...
  6. Yes. They did install a switch next to the 12V receptacle. The switch does click, but there was a time when the switch did not click the right way and the lamps did not turn on right away. IMO, the switch looks good for now...but you are right...the switch does feel funny right now. Any other suggestions...? Should I think about replacing the switch or just keep the switch on the ON position and start the bike that way in order to minimize wear and tear in the future.
  7. I have my passing lamp dealer installed at the time I purchased the bike. I went for a ride last Monday and discovered that my passing lamp (both lights) are no longer working. I checked the fuse box on the left side of the bike and all fuses are ok. All other lights work, rear lights, and turn signals work...except my passing lamps. Where else should I look...do I have to split the fairing (left side)?
  8. I've been using Valvoline 10W40 Moto Oil and Fram Moto Oil Filter ever since. I still have have 4 quarts of the Valvoline Moto Oil and Fram Filter on stand by in the garage for my next oil change. After that, I am going to try out Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W40 and Purolator Oil Filter as has been used by some forum members. There is just one condition to this...I should verify with my own eyes that the Rotella Oil does have some wet clutch application written on the jug.
  9. Nice read... Tomorrow, I am filling my tank and putting a ¼ can of the Seafoam. I do this every 2 months. Not sure if I have to do it once a month, so every 2 months IMO is sufficient for now. Ride Safe.
  10. I'd like to read more about replacing the clutch on my 2nd Gen. It is not time for replacement yet, but I'd like to educate myself. Pics are very helpful. What is the link?
  11. I still can not imagine myself paying $800 for the pipes. I usually like the silent mode, so my OEM mufflers are staying with me.
  12. Ok folks. We still have lots of Turkey left. One whole Turley was still untouched inside the oven, when we left my parent's house. We have 2 more cooked Turkey inside the ref ready to go, but I think I will have to Freeze one and eat that next year. For Lunch, I'll have Turkey with Cranberry Sauce w/ a little bit of rice and fruit salad. I guess I will have to workout before the end of the day.
  13. That is pretty much most of my riding is...lots of high speed super slab riding. And I love doing it on the Venture! As far as tire noise is concerned, I also get that noise on the lean but that is only momentary...this I can live with it. So far, I have a little over 10K on the OEM tire and may exceed 11K. I've heard lots of good feedback on the Avons and Dunlop E3s and do not cupp as much or perhaps not at all. Ride safe all.
  14. I am just aware of the 'Splines' on the pumpkin side and engine side to be greased down. I may have to make a closer look at the service manual and find out where and what that drive pin and needle bearing looks like.
  15. Good post. I'm getting close to replace my rear tire and the torque spec. is just what I wanted to know soon. 110 ft. lbs sure is tight. I think it is a good thing, because that is the only nut that keeps the axle from slipping off. For my cagers, I just normally torque from 75 to 85 ft. lbs.
  16. I will eat anything that is cooked. Our Turkey today will be cooked by the Amish. Anyway...on top of my list...Sweet Potato cooked in Brown Sugar and Butter after the main course meal. Tomorrow, someone should start a thread on WHO will be the biggest losser before summer time.
  17. ...unless you are an avid Skier.
  18. Just regular Car Wash soap on this end. I try to stay away from dishwashing liquid, since it will strip away any wax protection on painted surfaces of the bike. For tires, I don't think it is not a problem. Most of the time, I simply focus on keeping my wheels clean and not worry so much on the rubber side wall of my tires. Ride Safe.
  19. Glad to hear you guys had a great ride. Thanks for sharing your pics.
  20. I'm IN for this worthy cause.
  21. Amen, to that, Freebird. I hope I can keep my Venture as long as you have kept your Venture. Ride safe.
  22. Wish you all the luck. Watch your salt intake and don't forget to do moderate exercises. Hope you also can sell your bikes soon. Regards.
  23. I still don't buy the idea that Yamaha will stop mass producing Ventures. Due to economic conditions, Yamaha may strategically decide to slow down production and see this opportunity to incorporate new ideas and technological advancement applied to the new models...IMO. I think it is going to be a great start for Yamaha after 2010. BTW, as long as I can still get parts for my '07. I am satisfied.
  24. That may be the trick. "Take off the fuel pump off its mount." But it sure is tight. When spring comes, I may go ahead and order a new fuel filter and replace the old one. By that time, I will be around 13K or 14K depending on mother nature this winter. Thanks for your tip.
  25. That is good to know. But, I won't take your word for it. How involved is replacing the fuel filter? I've seen it last weekend, when I replaced my coolant. Space is very tight.
