    ok, glad to see we are back on track on tires in this thread. I am also interested on riders experience on the Continentals. I have heard and browsed on Commanders on the internet, but I think this is the first time I am hearing about the Milestone. My original front Bridgestones is getting low (16K miles) and may not pass the next PA. Safety Inspection, so I am shopping for a front tire. As far as the tread pattern is concerned, I think Continentals have a unique pattern of all.

    Hmmm. Looks like a lot of folks are on vacation. Hopefully you can a response for your request soon. Sorry to hear about the damage, but I'm glad that your radiator was spared.

    Shoudn't we all clean the caliper pistons before hand then push it back in then install the new pads. I recall reading a thread here stating that if the pistons are not initially cleaned before pushing it in, it may introduce dirt in the caliper and possibly cause some binding in the long run.

    When I pulled my pumpkin to take the drive shaft out, the drive shaft on the pumpkin end was the first one to separate. So it is highly likely to be able to pull the drive shaft out of the pumpkin. Nothing to be worried about...read the instructions that is in this forum very well and take it step by step. Just make sure you have a descent jack to lift the bike up and remain stable up in the air. As said before, plenty of help in this forum. Good Luck.

    That is an excellent idea. Not that 90 degree temps will linger in our area for the next 6 days, I may look into removing my lowers at least only for the summer months.

    Congrats on reaching a significant milestone in your life. My Dad also had just retired 4 months ago and is loving his free time at home. Enjoy your Golden years...oh by the way, I wish I live close to Indiana to attend the party.

    :stickinouttounge:I was just thinking if one has access to a tranquilizer dart gun. That would be my choice of attack then party at night.

    With the pic you posted, I don't think it is repairable and most importantly probably not advisable to fix. I have removed my oil pan on my Taurus SHO a few years back and replaced my rod bearings and to me that wasn't too bad aside from removing the exhaust manifold first. I have never done this on a bike, but it will be at a smaller scale and you probably know by now...pay close attention in properly torqueing the bolts back. Sounds like you are a good wrencher...you can do this repair. Please keep us posted on your fix, because this can happen to anybody including my bike. Regards.

    I use White Lithium Grease. Select a tube with a narrow nose, so you can stick it in the small rubber covers to apply the grease. I use the same lithium grease on my Front brake and clutch levers.

    For my bike, I plan to just grease my shaft splines and splines on the wheels on every rear tire change. When I removed my rear wheel the first time, I still can visibly notice some grease left on the splines after 12K miles. One can probably can apply more grease every 15K miles...I know I can because I applied a little more grease on my splines. However, you really could not go wrong with applying new grease every year...it is just like changing your oil more often will not hurt the bike. Have fun with maintenance.

    I like the Whiteness of HID and will always make HID lamps my first choice when I have to buy my next new cager. So I really like the HID and need to know where to buy and what part number am I looking into aside from H4 in mind? I am also concerned with my passing lamps for it is operating on OEM bulbs. If I switch to HID headlamp, the color will no longer match with my passing lamp. If there are no direct HID replacement for my passing lamps, my next best choice will be Sylvania Ultras as soon as my lamp burns out.

    I use Shell Rotella 15W40 and Purolator 14610. To easily remove the small oil filter, get yourself a nice rubber strap wrench and a set is readily available at your local SEARS store. You will enjoy changing the oil on the Venture. It is so much easier than changing oil and filter on some cars.

    +1. It sure is too much hassle just to 'just' check the plugs. If you are close to 8K miles, you might as well replace them with new ones. NGK plugs for our Venture are inexpensive. I got mine for a little over a buck each last year. As I close in to 16K miles in about 2 weeks, I'll be replacing my plugs once again. Ride Safe.

    I personally want redundancy time to time. It can be more beneficial to new members than myself. Think about it, if we didn't have any redundancy...I wouldn't even think of switching to another oil and oil filter.

    I had just changed my oil and for the first time, I used the Purolator PL 14610 and I am very pleased with it. As for the Supertech Walmart Brand, sounds like a good buy for about 2 dollars.

    Hang in there. You are looking at a month and a half. I think it is best to wait and follow your doctor's advise. Usually your insurance may not cover you, if the unfortunate happens with no release papers from your doctor.

    I say on my end, get even with him when he least expect it. Patience has its virtue. Time will Tell and play it smart...smarter than him. BTW, did he like your 2nd Gen?

    Please let us know what you do for your side Lights or Markers. I am hoping someone here would have other ideas for a brighter side marker.
