  1. I can see why longer trips (above 50 miles) may yield higher mpgs. My rountrip commuteis about 50 miles and cruising speed of 70 to 75 mph. At those speeds, I will get between 36 to 39 mpg with better numbers during warmer weeks. If I only take the side roads, I probably may reach the low 40s. But....the highway cruise is much more fun for me for now. Ride safe.
  2. I pretty much stay on the high end of 70 for cruising speed. This summer, I plan to visit Ohio and clock in at least 500 miles for the day. After reading all the post here, it makes me want to ride more for long distances this season. Ride Safe everyone.
  3. I just inspected my brackets this morning and it showed little surface rust. As soon as I arrive from work, a nice coat of anti-rust may help a little. Thanks for this thread, this is something I'ce never really paid attention to.
  4. It happened this winter on my bike only in the morning. When I sit on my bike as I get ready to pull out, my rear shock (I think it is my rear shock) moans.....but as I sit up and down; the sound goes away. I honestly think my shock is starting to show some problems. At least I am still within my warranty period.
  5. Hmmmm, I've never seen Castrol @ Advance Auto. I need to go to Autozone 15 miles farther.
  6. True confession on this end too. I honestly 'also' don't understand what is the deal with Radials and Biased Tires in terms of moto install or on a car install. The good part is, I mase sure I have bias tires installed on my Bike as well. Please go Bias on the Venture. Ride Safe.
  7. I've never seen Castrol moto oil in our area, but I'll keep an eye out. Very interested to try this on my Venture.
  8. I used the no load signal stabilizer for my signals and also kept my self cancelling & hazard capability. LED clusters are the way to go for bright LEDs. FWIW, I can not comment on other load equalizers from Custom Dynamics.
  9. Love the Blue on the Venture. Two thumbs up!
  10. jfoster, who is the Manufacturer of the FS3330? Curious, I may get one for stock.
  11. If I am not mistaken, Yamaha recommends to replace paper air filters after every 26K...I have taken off my filters 2X now and cleaned them with compressed air, but honestly...I don't see any difference as to how much dirt was blown away or not. At least not visible through my naked eye. At 22k, I am thinking about getting a pair around mid-season.
  12. FWIW, I jack up my bike using my J&S jack about once a week and check my oil level while it is on the jack.
  13. Glad to hear all went well. Great job. I am also planning to fire up the bike tomorrow and commute to work. Need to do safety checks first - since the bike has been sitting for a month now. It is finally starting to warm up especially this coming weekend. Ride Safe.

    Tire Question.

Yes. I have Bias tires for my rear.
  15. So, are we up to speed now?
  16. Congrats on all of your installation work. Have fun working 2m & 440 mobile and stay safe while riding. Your LED side markers are bright as well. Would you be willing to share information as to where you got your LED side markers? Perhaps JC Whitney?
  17. Wow! Impressive, Rick. You probably don't slow down for anything. As far as cleaning the calipers, I've never done one on my car but I can't wait to do this job around summer time. Ride Safe all...
  18. Thanks, RandyR. That is good to know that pads can be sold separately for front and rear. As we all know, our front pads last much longer than the rear pads. I've never done a pad swap on my Venture, but I think it should be straighforward. However, it will take a little bit more time for me to clean the calipers before installing the new pads. I can sort of picture it now...this can be the perfect weekend job for me once the weather improves and it is a little warm enough in the garage.
  19. My rear pads are still good, but may go ahead and replace them around mid summer. With 22K miles on my bike, I am nursing my rear pads and using more front brakes. Like I said, by mid summer, I'll go ahead and replace just the rear pads. BTW, do they sell just rear pads or you simply get them as a set (front and rear)?
  20. Looking good so far, Owen.
  21. Wow! Sounds like it is going to be a nice upgrade. I can't wait to follow your progress as soon as you can get started. Let us know what kind of rig you plan to install with bluetooth capability. Good Luck and have fun with the installation. 73
  22. I hope you can get that leak taken care as soon as possible. That deserves a priority # 1 come Monday morning.
  23. 3 minutes left and the Jets just made a TD. I hope they have enough time for a come back win.
  24. I think I'll change mine....GB vs Jets for the Super Bowl.
  25. Congrats on your newly acquired ride. Thanks for the pic.
