Quick ride 'round the block=400 miles later + Angry message from her b/f
N3FOL replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
Wow, 13 pages and still going. So, I am really ready to hear about Ride II Part I - of The Ride. -
It has been ugly in our area for the past 12 days now. The last time I rode this year was the 3rd to the 6th. I am hoping this weekend will be dry at least, so I can be back on the bike. Today, we had snow and ice on top of the snow....so commuting to work was slow going.

Hello captainjoe. No, not an Eagles fan. I like the Steelers, but I think the Jets will make it happen for them after what they've done to New England. They definitely have the momentum to go all the way. If I only had extra money for gambling.
-
I predict that it will be between the Jets vs Chicago in the Superbowl.

Glad to hear that everything worked out for you. I was going to suggest that you may have been given the wrong 'speedbleeder' for your bike - sounds like this is not the case. That reminds me, I also need to replace my clutch fluid since the fluid is starting to turn a little more amber. A perfect opportunity...snow is forecasted this coming Tuesday. Ride Safe.

Also, it may be beneficial for sanity sake to check all your added wiring for your brake/run lights and horn relay. Make sure non of the wires are being 'kinked' or bent to the point of almost being cut. Disconnect your horn wiring and remove the relay.
-
Check all the fuse...one at a time. Assure yourself that only one fuse is the culprit. What do you find?
-
I am sure members here would like to know whether you have done any electrical mods lately on your Venture. What accessories do you have on your bike not OEM?
-
I started this New Year working this weekend. At least I'm not out there spending my money. I also feel this will be a better year than 2010.
-
I also ride all year round, but I am not that far north. Cold does not stop me. Rain, snow and Ice will. Today, I was able to get at least 15 miles after not riding for 2 weeks.

NEW LED highway lights 8W each 120 Lumens
N3FOL replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That explains it...satellite radio sounds like is not affected by the buzzing issue of installing LED driving lights. -
The winter storm spared us over here. We only got 2 inches and was quickly blown away by the wind. The drawback now is the wind chill and this may feel like in the lower teens to single digits overnight. Unfortunately, winter has just begun and we are not close of being 'out of the woods'.

1999 ignitor; 2 or 3 plugs?
N3FOL replied to thoward's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I wasn't really familiar of this igniter. Looks like it is a nice mod for the RSV. -
I got a nice cotton vest that could fit under my leather jacket on cold weather rides, a bag of Mint and Fudge chocolates and a shirt. We hosted our family get together X-Mas Eve party and opened gifts. Being around family members was the best gift of all. Oh, I forgot the tons of left over Filipino food that we have to consume for the rest of the Holiday is worth looking forward to. ...off to eat lunch now. Merrry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all VentureRider forum members.

What speed do you cruise at on the highway?
N3FOL replied to shikano53's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The nearest interstate near me has a posted speed limit of 65 mph...so I cruise between 75 to 80 on my speedo. As mentioned before, almost all Venture speedos are off. In reality, my true ideal cruising speed would be 72 mph. Ride Safe. -
Welcome to the forum, Lucky_1_Chris! Just like the Honda forum, there is an abundant source of technical as well as online forum help here. Sounds like you are very mechanically inclined, so owning a Venture should be just as enjoyable as your Honda bike. I know it can be very frustrating, if you can't possibly get any help...this forum is excellent with a lot of members that has tickered with the bike for years. Once you have acquired the bike, please post some pics. Again, welcome and ride safe.

Glad to hear you guys are doing ok on cold weather riding. I haven't been on my bike for about 5 days now. Flurries + Wind + Temps in the single digits is not my cup of tea even with Gerbings - road surface is not safe for Motos. Snow in the forecast this afternoon near the MD/PA line, so next week may be my next best chance to ride. - Today, it is time to plug in the battery conditioner. :cold:Ride Safe.

Cheated out of another perfectly good snow storm.
N3FOL replied to Flyinfool's topic in Watering Hole
Snow is a hindrance to riding. If I don't get the chance to use my snow blower this winter season, I will not be disappointed at all. Unfortunately, they are calling for about an inch of snow tomorrow in our area. I hope the snow doesn't stick around too long. -
Welcome back to the work force. Glad to hear that you are doing much better.

Yep, the initial prices posted are very cheap. The price alone can be just the tire itself. Mount and balance + labor looks like has not been taken into account. If the price is accurate, I say go for it before they change their mind.

Which LED Signal LIghts?
N3FOL replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hello Sylvester. Yes, I have read about the J&P Cycles LED reflector. I even have their link bookmarked in my computer. Still not sure if I really want their product or not. But please tell me (question), is the J&P Cycle side marker also noticeable during the day? Is it bright enough under the sun or only at night? What I like about custom dynamics LEDs is that they really are pretty bright even during the day. IMO, their products are of good quality. I hope custom dynamics develop something similar to what J&P has. -
Which LED Signal LIghts?
N3FOL replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You have a point there, RandyR. But think about this...how often would someone be using his flashers? The only time one will use his turn signal is to make a turn or place it on four way flashing hazard state. 98% to 99% of the time, it is mostly riding on a straightline. So I think there is still a good advantage of having LEDs in terms of power saved. BTW 'Seaking', CD has the 'New Slimline Metric Signal Stabilizer' which produces no hear and is a 'No Load' type - similar to what I have. Most of my LEDs are running lights, 2 in front (amber); 3 in the rear + Yamaha spoiler; my rear signals are not running lights but are amber LEDs. They are pricey, but I think it does illuminate the front and rear better than reg. bulbs and looks cool too.
