  1. Went and took the road test yesterday. Funny thing is the only thing I had a problem with was the u-turn. Had to put my foot down every time. Had 2 highway patrole officers watching me . Thats where it got funny. They set me up with an eight foot u-turn because of patole cruisers in the way. I explained to them that minimum on this bike is 114 inches . they said prove it and I showed it to them in my owners manual. One officer then said okay you pass, the second ( a motorcycle cop) said not to pass me as it can be done. Went and got his patrole bike and proceded to drop his bike twice trying to make that turn. last I heard from him was a few choice words that the pg rating in here will not allow me to post . the first officer was rather tickled by thgis as he said the second rider /officer was always bragging how he has nevedr lain down a bike in his life. Needless to say I got my endorsement. David

  11. seems like to me a first gen is fro the birds.................they are the only thing out there fast enough to fly with us. And when the back end gets a little light from the speed the bird just spreds his wings and acts like a spoiler. and yes I ride a 1st gen david

  13. ok just a little hint. before oyu tighten evrything down and set it in stone so to speak, check your hitch height and the height of your trailor coupling(ball hitch) when the toungue is level. Make sure that the trailer will ride level or slightly pointing down. When I first hooked up my tralier to my bike it almost took me off the road. had my wife rides beside me and we realised that the tounge was pointed up ( towards the sky). Whenever I would lean to take a cornerthe trailer would bottom out on the hitch and force the rear end of the bike to push around in the bind. Hope that makes since as after I lowerd the hitch an 1 1/2 it never did it again. David
  14. thanks friesman1 , Ii did miss that although Im still confused. Id have to see it on the bike to understand how it works. david

  21. I agree with squidley. I keep my rear shock at 45-50 psi and front to 12-14 psi. only difference is I set the damper at 2 1 up. i change it to 3 2 up and run 60 or so psi in the rear with a rider. Hope tis helps as Brad has already stated and I agree it is all in the way you ride and want the bike to fill. David

  24. Ok been hearing about how all the second genners moved their trunks back to give their passenger a little more room. I was tols that it was already det up just had to move it. Ive been looking for a way to do this on a 1st gen. Looked at moving the trunk itself but dont have the skills to remake the mounts . Then considered moving the trunk rack mount back but it seems that isnt possible as it sets at an angle just behing the back light. Is there anyone out there who has already done this mod to a 1st gen and if so how did you do it? Any help would be appreciated David
  25. consider it done...... david
