  3. Hey PAPA bear, I was wright beside where you was parked . We talked a bit about mine. It was the one with the cut and drilled stock mufflers. After i heard your when you took of I made my mind up to install the ultra glide mufflers I had setting at the house. David
  4. yeah I meant $20 not 420 but in some circles 420 is a nice tip david
  5. I thought the only whistleing sound a 2nd gen heard was the sound of a 1st gen pulling by and away. sorry just had to go there david
  6. Prayers sent up for you................. Heal well and godspeed david
  7. so i pulled the batt. and checked for continuity between ground wire and coil ground. it was good all of them. cranked with side stand down in gear, and in neutral. clutch in and out. this makes me think you kneed to look at the side stand switch. the bike should not crank with the side stand down and the bike in gear without the clutch pulled. Unless Im reading it wrong . If so then I apologise. david

  9. As for the pipe Im not sure of the angle or lenght. What I did was ride the bike up to the muffler shop and we bent the 1 3/4 to the aproximate angle, then I laid on the floor while the mechanic told me if it was straight or not. I held the pipe to the angle that it would come out of the colector and we made gradual bends until it was straight. I think it was somewhere between 16 to 20 degree bend as I remember and adjust from there. We left the pipe long on each end and I used a metal blade in a chopsaw to cut the lenghts as needed to put it on as without taking the originals of we couldnt tell for sure. I just pulled my paper work and the calmps were $36 plus shipping,$10 for the pipes and 7 dollars for the stock clamps. 6 dollars for the atv sealor. This is the set i used for clamps. Item number:350375777867 less than $60 plus my time and I gave the the mechanic 420 tip for his extra time. david Ps the hd mod is a popular mod that a lot of peaple are doing in which they putting road kings on 2nd gens. These clamps were made specifically for that modification. Thats also why I went with the 1 3/4 pipe. you can also get it made in an 1 1/2 pipe and have the muffler side swelled to 1 3/4. I just figure I'd let it breath a little
  10. Here you go if you kneed more let me know. David
  11. someone kneeds to check these guys for a camel synch tool. Never seen a camel with four humps though. David
  12. Yankee ingenuity huh...I be a sothern redneck, but I think mine came out pretty good..............HAHAHAHAHA And it only cost me about $80.00 dollars including the mufflers. The most expensive part was the buckeye clamps but well worht it as they fit like a glove and now if I chose I can use any slip-ons that will fit a HD dresser. David
  13. Ok now you can put Road kings on your first gen. I put them on mine. I used a 1 3/4 pipe I had bent at the local muffler shop . Two 1 3/4 clamps from the muffler shop and a set of buckeye perfomance clamps for the hd mods( found on ebay for 34 bucks or so) . I put high heat copper rtv sealant inside the 1 3/4 pipe on the collector side and the buckeye perfomance clamps on the muffler side with no sealant. The mufflers bolted up to my trailer hitch but there are a few who have made their own brackets to mount it to the lower bag bolts. Mother and cimack77 are the ones who come to mind. David
  14. I looked into it a while ago for my 91. It can be done but it was above my head mechanically so I decided to leave it alone. Youve got one of the fast ones as it is. Good luck David
  15. I've never heard of one making the neutral light flash. You may have a bad ground or it may be wired incoresctly. David
  16. Let us know . If we can make it we will. Besides Laura has a double major im history and shes never been to that historical town. Not sure how a goofy redneck like myself landed such a smart and beautiful woman but I sure am lucky David
  17. BUT THats half the fun of it. We enjoy the ride. NAd as always meeting old friends and the get to add new ones to my list too. This family just keeps getting bigger and i like it. David
  18. IM a member of the national myself. Its not a problem in my state but I have heard that flying anything with the patriot guard colors in certain states could cause problems with the local 1 % club. Not sure where it was or if it is still a problem. I fly only the american flag on my bike. For now Im using an antana mounted flag but maybey the fat man will bring me a nnicer setup for christmas. Check with you state members to see if you fall under the pgr colors ban( their words not mine). State website should be able to tell you that, Good luck and ride safe David
  19. yeah Joe. If you look in the pics that sleeperhawks mechanic posted of al of us on that ride oyu can see what I was talking about. YOur passing lamp outpower the headlight with the modulator. Only other thing I could think of about that and I didnt think of it until just now is that my wifes shadow the headlight was aimed too low and in a pack I lost her when she was behind me. Acyually had several peaple say the same thing. We put in a silver star bulb and reaimed it. It was way too low. Now she can be seen. Maybey you could check the aim point of your headlight. And I have a friend on a wing that thinks it cute that peaple pull over for his modulating headlights. At least until he got behind an pfficer who pulled him over and gave him a ticket. He took it to court and got out of it but it still cost him a days pay. David
  20. we finally made it back home. No pics from us as the wife is the shutter bug in our family. And she forget her camera. But lets just say that its a 7 hr or so round trip ride for us to get to Pawley's front porch and we will be back again as soon as we can work it in. That is one good place there, Thanks Joe for the suggestion. It was nice to meet you and you lovely wife Bobie( hope thats spelled wright). And for oyu guys who say its too far to ride we even had a Harley rider with us. It was nice meeting you as well Chuck. George and Bobbie as always your hospitality was outstanding. laura and I are extremely greatfull for the Room and Board. Between Bobbie's cooking anfd Pawley's bugers I think I gained 10 lbs. David
